Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Usually Magneto was either on the defense, or the one administering the attack. This time, it was neither. It was merely an attempt to help his daughter, who was clearly in so much pain. His eyes remained on her, though he was aware of the metal nearing towards him, though he made no move to stop it. If need be, he would, but right now, his focus was on her. She had already told him that she would make him, her demand to stop her somewhere between just that: a demand, and a plea.
He knew that being defiant may only further aggravate the situation, so he remained quiet. No so much as flinching. She then went on to say that she put Pyro in that bed, nearly killing him and would do the same to him . . . to stop her, before she did. She clearly blamed herself for what had happened to her friend, but Erik wished to know the whole story of how she had made someone sick, when the illness seemed to be of natural causes. Abnormal yes, but natural none the less. "How did you do that?" He asked, still stoic, still calm, trying to coax her to open up more so that he could get to the root of what caused this reaction from her.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He could see the impact his words had on her, and his slight smile remained. He wished she had a better family to have raised her, but also knew that this was not the norm for mutants. It just made him loathe those who would discriminate against a race more powerful. So he understood that. He knew Charles offered young mutants like that a home, but it was not the best fit for everyone. Some, wanted to live at mutants; not blend in with homo sapiens. "You can," he said in response to her asking if she was allowed to tell people.
"I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," he added on, wanting her to know that it was not shame that prevented him from announcing it. Part of it was his own need to process the information and build a relationship with her before exterior interventions. And the other, was fear. Fear over losing her, as he had lost the rest of his family. Those so closely tied to him, were often in danger. She asked more about the concentration camp, and where he had been the one to open the subject, he knew he had to continue. "My parents were both killed there," he further explained. "I was released when the war came to an end and the camps were no more." A shadow of a boy. Consumed with only one dark desire: vengeance.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She missed his meaning. Perhaps she did not yet consider him family, and it would be understandable. But he also wanted her to know that . . . well, he acknowledged it. That despite all those years of not knowing her, he did desire to make up for that. To build a relationship with her now. Which was why he was opening up about his past; something that he did not easily do -- if ever.
"She is sitting right in front of me," he told her with a hint of a smile. The single statement, summing up her 3 questions, though he still did not directly response about the people in the locket. A heartbreaking loss, and proof that no matter where mutants tried to live . . . it was a human's world. Which was why Genosha was their only sanctuary; a true sanctuary.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik didn't fight the pressure she used to move him back. It shifted him, but he was far from discouraged. If there was one thing he was, it was determined and well, perhaps Lorna was too. Which would make for a chaotic combination at this moment.
But he was not backing down. So when she told him that she wanted him to hurt her, showcasing her power as it moved around her hand, Erik remained unphased. He just looked at her, unyielding, unconvinced to lay a single hand on her -- or use his powers against her. "I will not," he told her in a quiet voice, though loud enough for her to hear. Should she do something, he would defend himself against it, but hurting her was completely out of the question. A thought that he would not entertain, nor did he sugar coat his response. He was blunt in where he stood, and it would be with her, not against her.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She didn't want to talk. It didn't surprise him, but he also knew the importance of it. Yet, stubbornness seemed to be another quality they shared. The pain upon her face, and reflected in the shaking metal around them all too familiar to him. It had taken a telepath to initially calm him down enough to save him. But Erik was not going to do that to Lorna, or have Selene do that to her rather. It was not the way to reach her.
"Stopped from what?" He asked calmly, continuing to take another step towards her. He knew that soon enough, this would raise attention and others would join the scene. He was hoping to diffuse the situation before them. "From this?" He asked, motioning towards the shaking metal as he looked at it, before looking back at Lorna. "Is it me you wish to hurt?" He asked her, almost rhetorically. He saw so much of himself in her, which was why he knew that underlying source of pain. She knew he could stop her. "Or yourself?"

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Her question took him back, as he remembered every single moment. From the first parting of his family, to his hands moving the metal fence . . . the moment he was discovered by Shaw. Despite it being a long time ago, he recalled every detail. His childhood spent in the torturous camp while others were murdered, body after body.
"I was seven," he told her, his eyes still upon the numbers that forever marked his skin. Her next question, replaying the death of his mother in his head . . . of Magda, of Nina. Realizing he was getting caught up in the painful memories based on his silence, he lowered his sleeve to cover his arm once more as he began to answer her. "They were killed." Whether he was talking about his parents, or his wife and daughter. One daughter. He raised his gaze to meet hers. "Though not all of them." Eyes fixed on her so that she understood the meaning of his words. For she, was his family. A fact by blood, but a relationship that he wished to build.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION There had been concern among the mutants of the sickness that infected Pyro would be a contagious one. But thus far, no one had seemed to contract it. It was strange indeed. That such a severe illness would come out of no where, nearly costing the mutant his life. Fortunately, he was on the path to recovery. This provided some reassurance and it was fortunate that they had the skills of a doctor among them and medical supplies . . . which they would need more of. That would be a run to the city that Magneto was already preparing for in preparation should someone else get sick.
As he was walking between the buildings, he quickly noticed the metal start to tremble and shake. He paused, turning his head to the side, before turning around and setting his gaze upon Lorna. He knew that her and Pyro were close, but his recovery should bring ease to her mind. No. Something else was wrong. Erik looked at her closely, even from the distance between them, able to notice her tear stained cheeks. It was not often he saw her like this.
While he knew he could stop the shaking of the metal, he did not use his powers. She needed to learn to control it. But seeing her, the emotional state she was in and the way her powers were being used to reflect it . . . well, she truly was her father's daughter. "Lorna," he said calmly, stoically. He took one step towards her, unafraid of her. "I can see you're upset." Recognizing her state as he took another step towards her. "And we can talk about this." An offer; an invitation. An unspoken promise and assurance, that held the meaning of I'm here for you.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He and Lorna were still . . . learning about each other. And while Lorna acted nonchalant, it was clear in her actions, her body language, and her words that she finished on . . . she was curious. She wanted to get to know him and Erik knew full well that that was not an easy thing to do. That it was not something he let many do. But she was his daughter. They shared a far deeper bond than simply the mutant gene. "Have a seat," he offered, motioning to it while he did the same, the chair a bit of a distance away from him sliding on its own just in time as he lowered himself to sit on it. She was curious about him.
She wanted to know him . . . and Erik had to let her. Training her was not just about training another powerful mutant. This was family of blood. His family. He pulled up his sleeve, revealing his forearm which showed the tattooed numbers, forever a reminder of oppression and cruelty. "My family and I were taken to Auschwitz, a concentration camp during World War 2." In his height of pain and mourning, he had destroyed it. "We were all branded by numbers, to strip ourselves from our identities." To dehumanize them; resorting to mere digits. 214782.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik couldn't remember ever feeling this . . . light. But then again, alcohol might do that to a person. It had certainly done it to Erik Lehnsherr. Where the man had never gotten drunk before, it was uncertain as to how he would react to so many drinks that came one after another. The entire island -- growing into a city -- was celebrating. 5 years of success and this flourishing mutant nation. It was certainly cause to celebrate. Erik just didn't expect to it in this way. Drunk. And apparently, he was a happy drunk.
He smiled and laughed more than some even dare to imagine. Magda of course noticed and offered to take him outside of the bar area. "I will return," he assured the one who served drinks. "I am going for an air, and getting some fresh walk." Erik paused for a moment and grinned with amusement. "Darn words," he cursed. The irony, considering he usually took care to say the right thing; speeches having been common for him at a time. Instead of correcting himself however, he just shrugged and casually put an arm around Magda. His smile softened as he looked at her; really looked at her, perhaps a bit too intently. "Do you remember our first kiss?"

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik was still trying to process everything. From being face to face with Shaw to . . . something more remarkable: the discovery of more like him. And that those like him, had a name. Mutants. Erik had so many questions, so many things he wanted to learn and Charles Xavier, was willing to teach him. He had opened up his home to him, offered to teach him how to use the extent of his powers. To say Erik was intrigued, was an understatement. He had been introduced to an entirely new world and he couldn't be more excited. While it did not diminish his desire to kill Shaw, recent events had proven that he was not strong enough.
But he had every intention of being so; of killing him. All this meant, was that he required more time to do so. But his reason for returning here had just walked through the door, and he smiled as he walked towards her, his arms already moving to wrap around her as she greeted and complimented him. "Hello, beautiful," he returned in their language, leaning forward for a light kiss, letting it linger before easing out of it but keeping his arms around. "Good day?" He wanted to tell her everything, overjoyed with the discovery. But first, he wanted to see how she was as it had been days since he'd seen her.

HEY Everyone!! SOO I thought I would start this game where basically someone says a word, and then you have to take the LAST LETTER of that word, and make it the FIRST LETTER of a new word to anything X-Men related!! SO, for example:
If the word is:
MutanT
ToaD
DarkholmE
and so on!
READY?!?! I'll kick things off with an utterly predictable word . . .
BrotherhooD

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik was not a picky eater. Circumstances of his past prevented him from being one. Concentration camps, maximum security prisons, being a fugitive . . . no. He certainly was not a picky eater. And yet, he still felt the need to question it. Lorna had offered to make dinner and well, they both knew she wasn't exactly the domestic type. Perhaps part of her wanted to be, Erik was uncertain of it.
The important thing was that the two of them spend time together, learning of their bond having gone deeper than just mere mentor or fellow mutants. They were related by blood. So he of course was not going to turn down the offer of this opportunity. Still. He couldn't help but ask as he looked at the meal set before him as she encouraged him to try it. "So remind me, how exactly you made this?" Ingredients. Cooking procedure. Erik was indeed fascinated and even appreciative of the effort. However, if there was one thing he was not it as a liar . . . so with that, he so deeply hoped it tasted good.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION What did he want. "An explanation," he answered simply. But perhaps one that was different than his initial motives for coming here. He did not want or need an explanation as to why she did not tell him about Lorna. He and Susanna hadn't had a deep relationship that involved love and strong union. So he didn't need to know why she had not told him of Lorna. And for that reason, he elaborated his answer to her question.
"For the bruises on her neck." That was after all what had triggered his response upon entering the house. But Magneto was no idiot. It did not take a genius to know what Lorna was abused at the hands of these two. The mere disdain that tripped from the man's lips when he said mutant was indicative enough. But Magneto wanted to hear them say it. Say what they had done to her. Daughter or not, she was a mutant and that was reason alone for Magneto to be protective over her. The blood that they shared, just made that instinct stronger.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Dad. The word was both foreign and familiar. A word he longed to hear and yet, was uncertain of how to react to it. Outwardly, he showed no reaction. Remaining stoic. Internally, the simple three letter word elicited such an array of emotions. Emotions that he was not even certain he'd fully dealt with, from the loss of the only one he ever thought would call him such a fatherly title . . . to his now older daughter who he never knew he had. Until recently. But instead of placing emphasis on that particular word, treating it in the same nonchalant way that Lorna said it -- something that they seemed to have in common it would seem -- she went on to comment on his hats.
A stylistic choice he had from an earlier age yet one that soon became a part of his attempt to blend and remain inconspicuous whilst remaining one of the most wanted men in the world. And then, came the inevitable question. The inquiry of those in the locket. It was not something he often spoke of and those here who knew, knew it was not something he desired to speak of. But Lorna shared his blood. She was his kin. And, it would not take long for her to find out should she really set out to search for the answer. "What were you hoping to find here?" He asked in a quiet, but calm voice. A question to answer a question. But, he wanted to know. What she looking for something specific? Or, was she just looking for a part of him.

Tag: Lana Kane Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik gave a small smile when Lana commented on Lorna liking, or well loving him. For he knew all too well that Lorna would have hated someone sensing her emotions and saying it out. Despite the harmless act, Lorna often had her guards up. Truth was, Erik also held affection for the young girl. As a father would. "Like many others, she has been through a lot." And to know that she cared for Magneto, brought him the ease that she was able to find that comfort with someone when it had been lacking for nearly her entire life. His small smile remained when Lana continued to speak of how this place was not like what she had imagined.
"Less of a military camp, and more of a civilization," he both asked and commented. The trips from government agents ensuring they were not some training arena preparing for war had been in abundance towards the beginning. Even still, Magneto knew the ones that did not trust them. And while they did have mutants who trained to protect the others and their land, military was not the purpose of this space. Which, Lana continued to speak of as she said that mutants felt safe here. That they liked it here.
"That is the hope," Magneto said thoughtfully. To hear that she felt it, brought him some ease as well. "I suppose I've let go of the days I felt compelled to surround myself with metal," he said only half joking. The initial Brotherhood headquarters had been full of it; that after all, was when he was in the height of his actions against the human race. "But here, is meant to be a home for any mutant who so desires." He paused for a moment to properly look at her. "Including you." If she wanted to stay.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Call it paternal instinct, but the second his phone went off . . . he knew it was her. He knew it was Lorna. He also knew that she was incredibly upset that he had not brought her, but he did not regret the choice despite the upset it had caused his daughter. Lorna was undoubtedly an extremely powerful mutant, but what she had in powers, she lacked in . . . well, diplomacy. It was his hope that she would get there but it would take time, and training. Until then, he could not risk it where important conversations were to take place. Selene was the natural choice, and one of his most trusted confidantes.
But, he was well aware of the fury that is Lorna which would be awaiting him when he returned to Genosha. Which was also why he had made it a point to stop for Cheese its. Glancing at the message, he decided that it would be far worse if he didn't reply, than if he did. She knew how to get his attention and after being absent from her life for so long . . . that side of him wished he knew how to make it up. Though, the deep seated knowledge of knowing that he never truly could. It's not about fun, he began. But about what is needed. He paused for a moment, knowing that this was not something that would be resolved through texts. We can talk about it when I return. And that response would either temporarily diffuse the situation, or make it ten times worse.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Magda had been one of the few -- if not only -- person he had physically told of what had happened to his mother. And even if he had not, she could have easily assumed his mother's fate, considering where the two of them had first met. But no. Magda knew it was a way to appeal to him; to remind him, to have him emphathize with those that were now persecuted. Perhaps the former version of himself would have. Perhaps Erik would have. But not the mutant he was now; not this darker version of himself. Of Magneto.
"And they too would have ended up dead." Just like my mother. The unspoken but implied words. But speaking of his mother, was not why he was here. The world was at war; and mutants were at the forefront. "But it was after all, humans who had taken her," he reminded. An inferior race, that had started his hatred against them. "Are you aware of what the punishment is for your actions?" Apocalypse was far from merciful in such cases.
