Lorna had lived with her mom, so therefore she knew a lot about her personally. Which pills she liked, which shampoo she favored. She also knew a lot about her not-Dad (who was being referred to as not-Dad now that she had a Dad). What she didn't know was a lot about her Dad. Since the week she'd found out about her Dadneto, Lorna had been in a state of euphoria and a state of anxiety of not knowing what he intended to do with this knowledge. Anxiety made her do things sometimes that nuro-normal people didn't do!
Like walk into his place while he was out and not-so-subtly look around. At first it was just the surface things. What he kept sitting out. His hats. Trying on a few Lorna found one she liked and kept it on. She walked over to the closest and open it but there wasn't too much in there to make her keep digging. She opened and closed a few drawers, then moved on to something more exciting.
There was a chest with this helmet and some other mementos. She was looking through them trying to place why each was important. Why he might decide this was what he wanted to hold on to, but not keep out in sight. There was a necklace in it, and Lorna pulled it out. Using her powers t open it and look at the picture inside. "Who are you?" She muttered, leaving it floating there while her hands dug in more.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik had been helping a few others get settled in before mapping out which land they could use for farming purposes. The vision for Genosha was growing as the population was too. He envisioned it would become a mutant nation; a strong nation. But, this was for the future. Right now, they were simply making necessary accommodations for those who wished to reside here. Having finished a little earlier than planned, he made his way back to his home, and heard noises from his room. Unafraid of a potential threat, he floated his way up, standing in the threshold, able to recognize the back of that head anywhere. The green colour of it rather distinct. Though, most of the top was hidden by . . . one of his hats, apparently.
He didn't say anything as she had pulled out the necklace, having found the box he kept concealed and for good reason. Slightly turning his hand, the necklace flew from her grasp -- even though it wasn't technically in her hand -- and immediately went into his palm, in which he casually closed his fingers over it. The idea of Lorna being his daughter was still one he was adjusting to. They both were. But, it opened up a part of him that he had closed off for a decade. Fatherhood. Ever since losing Nina, he doubted he could be a father again . . . the fear of losing a child too great. But Lorna, had caused that part of his heart to reopen, no matter how afraid he was of letting it. He didn't say anything. He just looked at her, holding the sentimental piece of jewellery in his hand as he looked at her expectantly. Waiting for an explanation.

One moment she was there with the necklace floating before her and the next she felt it tugged away from a force stronger then what her powers were using to hold it up. "Shit," she jumped in surprise and her knee slammed into the chest, knocking the helmet to the side and the kid closing. OW! Turning she sat on the closed chest and turned to look at HIM. Her father by blood and mentor by choice. She knew she should look guilty and try to talk her way out of this but Lorna didn't admit guilt and she didn't back down from a fight. Even if it was a mental one.
"You snuck up on me!" She accused, without any heat to her voice. The hat had tilted on her head, and she sat there rubbing her knees (which didn't hurt too much) while looking up at him. Clearly the people in the necklace were important. She had two choices: admit she was snooping and tell him she just wanted to know him--or ignore it. It did't take but 2 seconds to commit to plan B. Ignoring it. "Did you get the farm land planned? I found the fencing stuff, and can put it up tomorrow." Yeah, that was the right move!

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Despite her hasty attempt to hide the evidence . . . it was there. She had been caught and yet, seemed to think that by dismissing the fact that she was sitting here, in his room, on his chest, with his hat on her head . . . exempted her from explanation. Not to mention her somewhat accusatory statement of sneaking up on her. As if he was currently in the wrong. While he didn't have anything to hide per say, there were personal belongings that if found, would open up conversations that he wasn't ready to have with others. And she found the one place where it was all contained.
Starting with the locket that he currently held in his hand. "Oh, I'm sorry," he began to say though his tone was stoic and very obviously lacked apology in it. "For sneaking up on you in my room while you were looking through my things." The chest, not to mention her attire. But, as Lorna ignored the present situation . . . Magneto easily ignored her words about the farmland. Perhaps they did have more in common than one would think. "And by the way, nice hat." More sarcasm. His expression and tone clearly unamused. He wasn't entirely sure what she was looking for, but he was certainly going to find out.

Huh, maybe they had more in common then some thought. Lorna wasn't really used to seeing him sarcastic so it kind of made her smile at little. Look at that, maybe she wasn't born with it. "Thanks it's my Dads." She said and then mentally braced herself. She hadn't ever referred to him as her father before, not without warning and in such a casual context. She didn't really know how he would react. Bracing herself didn't mean she looked away though, as she wasn't a coward.
Until he out right asked her what she was doing though, Lorna wasn't going to offer up the information. So instead she just pretended that this was a normal conversation. "You got a hat thing? Cause you have a lot of hats. This was really retro." She pointed to the one on her head. Picking up the helmet she used her powers to float it from one hand to the other casually fidgeting with it. And since she didn't really expect him to reply about the hats she kept going, her voice curious but not guilty. Which in a way summed Lorna up. She had never learned to be sorry for what she did since breathing had been one of the reasons her Not-Dad had used to beat her. "Who's in the picture?" She asked, "The people in the locket." The photos looked old.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Dad. The word was both foreign and familiar. A word he longed to hear and yet, was uncertain of how to react to it. Outwardly, he showed no reaction. Remaining stoic. Internally, the simple three letter word elicited such an array of emotions. Emotions that he was not even certain he'd fully dealt with, from the loss of the only one he ever thought would call him such a fatherly title . . . to his now older daughter who he never knew he had. Until recently. But instead of placing emphasis on that particular word, treating it in the same nonchalant way that Lorna said it -- something that they seemed to have in common it would seem -- she went on to comment on his hats.
A stylistic choice he had from an earlier age yet one that soon became a part of his attempt to blend and remain inconspicuous whilst remaining one of the most wanted men in the world. And then, came the inevitable question. The inquiry of those in the locket. It was not something he often spoke of and those here who knew, knew it was not something he desired to speak of. But Lorna shared his blood. She was his kin. And, it would not take long for her to find out should she really set out to search for the answer. "What were you hoping to find here?" He asked in a quiet, but calm voice. A question to answer a question. But, he wanted to know. What she looking for something specific? Or, was she just looking for a part of him.

Lorna dug her heel into the ground, and found her leg moving a little from the edginess she felt, but she wasn't about to admit it. "Yeah, I wouldn't tell me either." She said, her tone sarcastic, but held a flat almost bitterness undertone. She knew that she was screwed up. Sometimes knowing it hurt, sometimes it was just matter of fact. "I didn't really inherit the whole--" she waved her hand at his stillness (both in body and words) "--statue-ness."
Pushing to stand up she left his hat on her head--fully planning to keep it now--and folded her hands over her chest. "I wasn't looking for anything." Which was true, sort of. She had wanted to get to know him. "I was just looking." Learning what she could about him. Her father.
Which left her with wondering what he'd do with her now. So far she'd learned he liked hats, and kept a locket of people she didn't know. Since she didn't know them, she imagined they were dead. People didn't hide lockets of people they were still alive. Deciding she was already dug her own grave, Lorna figured she might as well cover it to0. "You're Polish or something right? That's were you got your numbers on your arm from." The first part she had meant to ask, but the later part had just came out. Shifting her weight she tried to back step a little. "I was curious."

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He and Lorna were still . . . learning about each other. And while Lorna acted nonchalant, it was clear in her actions, her body language, and her words that she finished on . . . she was curious. She wanted to get to know him and Erik knew full well that that was not an easy thing to do. That it was not something he let many do. But she was his daughter. They shared a far deeper bond than simply the mutant gene. "Have a seat," he offered, motioning to it while he did the same, the chair a bit of a distance away from him sliding on its own just in time as he lowered himself to sit on it. She was curious about him.
She wanted to know him . . . and Erik had to let her. Training her was not just about training another powerful mutant. This was family of blood. His family. He pulled up his sleeve, revealing his forearm which showed the tattooed numbers, forever a reminder of oppression and cruelty. "My family and I were taken to Auschwitz, a concentration camp during World War 2." In his height of pain and mourning, he had destroyed it. "We were all branded by numbers, to strip ourselves from our identities." To dehumanize them; resorting to mere digits. 214782.

His reply wasn't exactly one she was ready for. After a childhood of being ignored, having her hero offer her a seat made her hesitate. More from shock he wanted to talk to her. Lorna moved to take the seat he offered, not missing hos he moved his chair so effortlessly. Goals.
She used her hands to lift her hips so she could cross her legs under her, and lean her elbows on her knees. A relaxed, but slightly eager, mannerism. While Lorna was street smart--she lacked book smarts, yet she knew what Auschwitz and concentration camps were. Though not the full details. "How old were you?" She asked in a tone that was very un-Lorna. Gone was the sarcasm and thinly veiled anger at the world.
His other words filtered in as well. He had a family. She had more family? Were they human or mutants like them? "What happened to your family?" Could she meet them one day? Would he let her? Would they even want to know her? What id they hated her?

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Her question took him back, as he remembered every single moment. From the first parting of his family, to his hands moving the metal fence . . . the moment he was discovered by Shaw. Despite it being a long time ago, he recalled every detail. His childhood spent in the torturous camp while others were murdered, body after body.
"I was seven," he told her, his eyes still upon the numbers that forever marked his skin. Her next question, replaying the death of his mother in his head . . . of Magda, of Nina. Realizing he was getting caught up in the painful memories based on his silence, he lowered his sleeve to cover his arm once more as he began to answer her. "They were killed." Whether he was talking about his parents, or his wife and daughter. One daughter. He raised his gaze to meet hers. "Though not all of them." Eyes fixed on her so that she understood the meaning of his words. For she, was his family. A fact by blood, but a relationship that he wished to build.

Lorna watched him as he hid the tattoo on his arm. Seven. While she had been in a camp or anything, it made her think they had the same pattern for their early years. She had a good life until she began showing powers. Her Mom hadn't been the most attentive, but she hadn't hated her. It suddenly had gotten bad.
He told her his family died. She imagined that meant they hadn't died naturally but had been killed. From what little she knew about places like that, it wouldn't have been a easy death. He looked at her, and she straightened her shoulders a little. He then added on that they had not all died. "Some of them lived?" She asked, wondering about the family he had out there. "Why are they not here?" Did they not approve? Were they human?!
She knew that everyone here had human parents, or at least one human parent. They were common enough now that they could begin finding others like them but before this, it had been more rare. Maybe he had a brother or sister. Maybe they were human. "Are they the ones in the locket?" She knew they weren't. She already decided the pictures were of dead people, but he had skipped that question and she was still trying to get answers.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She missed his meaning. Perhaps she did not yet consider him family, and it would be understandable. But he also wanted her to know that . . . well, he acknowledged it. That despite all those years of not knowing her, he did desire to make up for that. To build a relationship with her now. Which was why he was opening up about his past; something that he did not easily do -- if ever.
"She is sitting right in front of me," he told her with a hint of a smile. The single statement, summing up her 3 questions, though he still did not directly response about the people in the locket. A heartbreaking loss, and proof that no matter where mutants tried to live . . . it was a human's world. Which was why Genosha was their only sanctuary; a true sanctuary.

Lorna froze and could only stare at him. Her eyes were slightly widened, and her lips parted in a almost jaw dropped reaction. He called her his family. Magneto. Thought. of. Her. Like. His. Family. It was one thing to think of him as her family, and know that they were--but hearing that he did too was heavy, and powerful. Blinking a few times, she recovered as best as she could. Nodding slowly, Lorna tried to shrug but the heavy knowledge made it more of a twitch. "Yeah, cool." She whispered with her voice cracking. "Mine too. My family I mean."
"I mean, mine's not dead but they might as well be." Clearing her through again, she inhaled deeply. It helped her recover more. Sitting up more, but keeping her legs crossed she let the silence hang for a moment after that. "So am I like . . . allowed to tell people that I'm your kid, then?" She wanted it to be open knowledge. She wanted everyone to know. "Did any of your other family live? Or are still alive? Or were you the only one to make it out of the concentration camp?"

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He could see the impact his words had on her, and his slight smile remained. He wished she had a better family to have raised her, but also knew that this was not the norm for mutants. It just made him loathe those who would discriminate against a race more powerful. So he understood that. He knew Charles offered young mutants like that a home, but it was not the best fit for everyone. Some, wanted to live at mutants; not blend in with homo sapiens. "You can," he said in response to her asking if she was allowed to tell people.
"I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," he added on, wanting her to know that it was not shame that prevented him from announcing it. Part of it was his own need to process the information and build a relationship with her before exterior interventions. And the other, was fear. Fear over losing her, as he had lost the rest of his family. Those so closely tied to him, were often in danger. She asked more about the concentration camp, and where he had been the one to open the subject, he knew he had to continue. "My parents were both killed there," he further explained. "I was released when the war came to an end and the camps were no more." A shadow of a boy. Consumed with only one dark desire: vengeance.

"I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," He said it so casually. "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," The words kept echoing in her head. "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," each time she hear the words in his voice they meant more to her then when he called her his family. "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," She had spent her whole like knowing that her mother and f--step-father were ashamed of her, and hated her powers and now . . . "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," He just said it. He just came out and said it. And Magneto didn't lie. He never lied, even when they hated it when he didn't. "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna,"
Looking down at her shoes she tried to let them soak in. Tried not to think about what might happen if she did make him ashamed of her. Lorna knew she was a hot mess, and yeah, she wanted to get better but she also didn't know how. She had ended up pushing everyone away and making them hate her. What if she did the same with him? "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," Failing with him wasn't an option.
"I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," "You'd be the first then." Admitting that wasn't hard, but hearing his words were. Not hard as in a unwanted feeling, but hard as in she wanted them too much. Magneto went on the talk about his family and getting out. "You were alone then? When you got out? How did you not turn out . . . coo-coo for coco puffs?" She asked, honestly wanting to know. "I am not ashamed of you, Lorna," She needed to know his answer. It might be the only thing that let her hear these words again.
