Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Recent events had truly changed everything. It had all started with an anti mutant rally. Magneto had gone along with a few fellow Brotherhood mutants. Mostly, to see the crowd. To ensure that no mutant was harmed. These kinds of rallies were truly revolting. To see so many angry people protest against others. And for what? For being different? For being superior. That was what Magneto hoped to show the world.
So he just watched, silently. His eyes moving over the zealous and aggressive crowd. But had he believed in fate, perhaps he would have believed it brought him there, for as his eyes surveyed the group, they rested on a familiar face. A woman he recognized from his past. She stood with another man and the two of them . . . were quite active in the chants and shouts that came from the crowd. Their hatred of mutants clear as day. Selene seemed to have caught Magneto looking at her and she gave him a curious look. She knew better than to delve into his mind so Magneto offered the information to her.
"I have met her before." To say the least. He'd done more than just meet her but that was irrelevant . . . or that was what Magneto thought. Selene looked at the couple and focused in on their thoughts. Magneto didn't need to ask to know that. He knew her well enough to know when she was using her powers. But nothing would have prepared him for what she said next, revealing that they had a child who was a mutant. It at first, fuelled Erik's dislike for them. To be here at an anti mutant rally with a child who was a mutant. But when Selene continued, sharing that the woman had thoughts of Magneto . . . that was when she revealed it to him. That the daughter was his.
Despite all the commotion around them, Erik could have sworn the earth stilled. That everything ceased to exist as he processed this piece of information. He had a child. A daughter. That was the thought that consumed his mind for the rest of the day. And the day after. And the one after that. It would be a few days before Magneto decided that he could not just sit on this information. He needed to confront the mother of his child. And, he needed to meet his daughter. After a bit of digging, they managed to find the address, and he wasted no more time, making his way to her residence.
A seemingly perfect neighbourhood, yet inside of the house, was his daughter. His child. A child he had no knowledge of. Well, that was all soon about to change. Dressed in his usual casual attire he stood outside the door and waved his hand to ring the bell. How, traditional. But he would ease into his presence here . . . for he knew that she would not welcome him, and Magneto was prepared to fight that, for the sake of his daughter and the fear of what she may be enduring under the care of two humans who hated mutants.

Lorna's mother walked into the room, took one look at her, sighed and walked out. Lorna knew she'd disappointed her again but didn't know how to help it. One again her body had somehow rejected the harsh chemical dye that her mother put on her and the bath had washed it out. Something about her powers never let the dye set in. Her hair was green, and it would always been green. Her mother was dye it, and it would stay until it was washed again, and it would just wash out.
Eight year old Lorna dried off and dressed in jeans and a black shirt, both well worn and aged. Clearly her favorite. She pulled on her shoes and ran down the steps. She knew that if the dying didn't work her mother would eventually cut it off. It had happened before, which was why her hair only went to her shoulders. Maybe if she grabbed her hat and got out of here she could lay low for a while.
Dane was in the odd place of knowing her parents hated what she was. She was a mutant. Her mother hadn't always been so against it, but the more Lorna's powers came out the more her mother got angry. They wanted a cure. They wanted it to go away. Lorna just wanted her mother's attention. On her way to get her hat she heard the bell to the door. She could hear her parents talking about cutting her hair again so she decided to get to the door first. Maybe a visitor would distract them and she could get out the back door.
Running to it, she pulled it open and blinked up at the man standing there. She knew how she looked--tallish for her age, thin and pale with green hair that hadn't been brushed yet today. Her pale skin made the three-day old bruise on her neck still look purple and black. Her green hair did nothing to hide the yellowing of the week old bruise at her hair line. Her clothes, while clean, were faded and had worn places in them where she wore them all the time. She had others but the black made her hair greener, and she liked her hair. Even if her parents hated it. In contrast, this guy was tall and neat all over. He looked like a sales man here to sale them something. Nothing was wrinkled to faded. Before she could say anything she hear her father yelling at her for answering the door, he took her by the arm and pulled her back away from it before looking at the guy that was there and giving him a smile. "Sorry, kids these days!" He joked, "Can I help you?" Lorna stayed standing behind the door, knowing that they didn't like people seeing her hair.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Magneto looked at the young girl who opened the door, and right away . . . he knew. His eyes locked onto her and all he could do in this moment was stare. It was his daughter. Lorna, apparently. She was, beautiful. Her green hair had him inwardly smiling; a sign of her mutation that made his heart swell with pride. She was truly, beautiful. But as he looked at her more, he started to take in the other parts of her. The worn condition of her clothing. The . . . bruise on her neck. The soft smile he hadn't even known was on his lips faded, and just in time for a man to come and pull the child back, looking at Erik. Daring to speak to Magneto. He supposed it was safe to say that it took a great deal to make him angry.
Certain things more triggering than others. To see a child harmed because of . . . whatever the reason may be, though every possible reason would be rejected for there was no excuse, was all too familiar. Erik felt it safe to say that it was due to her mutation. It always was. But, it hit far too close to home, as he too had been tortured as a young boy. And in this particular instance, it was far worse because . . . it was his daughter. As if unnervingly composed, the calm before the storm, Magneto looked at the man, completely stoic. "Kids," he said in agreement with a huff of breath. Then, in one sudden motion, he raised his hand, causing the man to fly back into the house and hit the wall.
Magneto casually stepped inside the house, the door closing and locking behind him. Fortunately, the pathetic excuse for a human had a belt on. Erik then crouched down in front of the girl, a slight softness on his face. "You're going to be ok," he told her, reassuringly. When he heard footsteps hurriedly approaching, he stood up to face who was there. Her. She looked shocked and . . . fearful. Good. She had every reason to be. Magneto raised his hand, using the bracelet around her wrist, the ring on her finger, and the necklace around her neck to have full control. Raising out his other hand to pull the phone chord out of the wall as the man dialed, Erik used it instead to wrap around the man's wrists, restraining him, and pulling off the woman's bracelet to do the same. Jerking his head a little, he had both of them fly over to the couch, where he forced them to sit next to each other.
Hands restrained, and Erik used the rest of the phone wire to restrain their feet too. He would not kill them in front of Lorna, but it took some restraint to not cause more harm. He casually took off his hand, placing it on the table in the middle of the living room as he made his way to the chair across from them, only the table between the three people. Nonchalantly sitting in it, his tone matched his demeanour. "We need to have a little chat." He was looking at the woman. A woman he had known. A woman he had relations with. And . . . the woman who had given birth to his child.

Lorna jumped when her father flew back to the wall. The man at the door walked in and bent down near her, telling her that she would be ok. She didn't have to say anything to him, because her mother came in behind her, and the man used his powers on her too! "MOM!" Lorna yelled, and ran forward but stopped after he put them on the couch. There was something frightening in how calm ad still he was. Putting his hat on the table and sitting there. Lorna ran to stand near her Mama, not sure what was happening. Her mother didn't once look at her, or acknowledge that Lorna was there. There was no worry for her daughter with the scary man here.
"What do you want?" Her mother said, and Lorna looked between the man and her mom. She wasn't a stupid kid, she knew her mother wouldn't protect her. She had to protect herself. Still, her mother was all she had so she was going to protect her if she could. The last thing she wanted was to be alone. "Is this your mutant?" Her Dad asked, and her Mom just glared.
The scary man was a mutant! They didn't like mutants here. They wanted them fixed so they would go away, but Lorna didn't want to be fixed! She liked her powers! She wanted to keep them!

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION What did he want. "An explanation," he answered simply. But perhaps one that was different than his initial motives for coming here. He did not want or need an explanation as to why she did not tell him about Lorna. He and Susanna hadn't had a deep relationship that involved love and strong union. So he didn't need to know why she had not told him of Lorna. And for that reason, he elaborated his answer to her question.
"For the bruises on her neck." That was after all what had triggered his response upon entering the house. But Magneto was no idiot. It did not take a genius to know what Lorna was abused at the hands of these two. The mere disdain that tripped from the man's lips when he said mutant was indicative enough. But Magneto wanted to hear them say it. Say what they had done to her. Daughter or not, she was a mutant and that was reason alone for Magneto to be protective over her. The blood that they shared, just made that instinct stronger.
