Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She was shocked. And, he hardly blamed her. It was indeed a shock after having come to terms and accepted the fact that his powers would never return. Yet now, here he was . . . telling her the very opposite. That they were coming back. She asked him if he had known this since the other night and he promptly answered. "No," he told her truthfully. With how open he had been with her in the past, and how long it had taken him in the time he returned to tell her about what had happened . . . this was something he could confidently say he'd not kept from her.
"I hadn't known. Not for certain. I did not even, dare think it was possible." Because he knew that he couldn't survive . . . that they couldn't survive another disappointment such as that. "It was only last night that I felt it." When they had been making love. The objects moving, though he had no solid control over it. As she moved closer, she asked him if he was alright and . . . he just looked at her, the question reflective of her caring nature.
"Are you?" He asked softly, an almost tease had the conversation not been so serious. But, he knew it was only fair to answer her question rather than respond to it with another. "I'm wondering how this is possible." How after so long, after all the ways they tried to draw out his power . . . it had been his wife, his family that had been able to do so. Charles' words ringing clear in his mind. "But gladly embrace it." Because regaining his power meant regaining his identity.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION 36 Our muses sitting at their child’s sickbed. Erik had often believed that he would be able to protect his family. That no matter what, he would keep them safe. However, when his daughter had fallen ill . . . Erik had become panicked. This was not something he could protect her from for it was an inner threat, not an outer one. One that dealt with her body, with the inside of it. And that inability to physically do anything to help, was making him even more afraid and worried. They had just recently moved to Poland and with the weather change and her immune system still developing, it was reason enough for her to have fallen ill. But it did nothing to ease Erik's mind. Nothing would ease it until she was completely better. He was currently sitting at her bedside, dipping a rag in cool water and gently stroking it on her forehead to help break the fever.
When she started fussing however, he didn't hesitate to pick her up on his arms, sitting on the bed himself with her nestled against his chest. He kissed the top of her head, as she was half asleep and half awake. Magda was making a broth for her as Erik remained with Nina. This was their first child and nothing could emotionally prepare him for the fear and worry he felt for her. All he could do was hold her, softly singing to her though his voice caught every so often, unable to even imagine what could happen if he lost her to something like this. Humans, other mutants, a wild animal . . . all of these things he could protect her from. A sickness, he could not.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She turned to face him, giving him her undivided attention. They both knew the seriousness of this conversation. The inevitable one but . . . it was far easier to have than so many others in the past year. This one, actually held an air of good news. Not bothering to build up the revelation or ease into it, Erik did as he always did: was very direct.
"My powers are returning." There it was. The very thing he had tried to force out in the first few weeks of his return. The truth of them being permanently gone something he had severely struggled with. And now . . . his reveal that they were returning. "I wouldn't say this unless I knew for sure," he added on. It was the only logical explanation for the items moving in the room. But he also wanted Magda to know that he wasn't delusional nor going on false hope. "I can feel it." He could feel the metal around him. Could feel the pull it had, the force of it. So very different from the nothingness he'd experienced this past year, and the years spent in the facility.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He smiled through the kiss, breathing into it as he wrapped his other arm around her. While he knew nothing could happen in the kitchen, he was enjoying the embrace . . . feeling her body next to his. It had come far from the car ride to the house. Her encouragement as she deepened the kiss as well as her verbal one, telling him not to let her stop him.
His hand slid over her back, reaching down a little lower to touch her and run his hands over the curve of her behind. His lips parted from hers, moving along her cheek, towards her neck but stopped at her ear along the way. "Shall we go to bed?" He asked, or rather, suggested. It was either that, or a comment about working on another baby, on making one. He opted to go with the more direct question.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik's smile grew with his wife's plea, one that was difficult to not give in to. While he wasn't shy about his voice, it was more the emotional sentiment that came along with it. He hadn't even fully realized he was humming, for it felt so . . . natural. Perhaps a paternal instinct that just took over. Her playful reward for if he sang made him more eager to do so . . . but he also wanted to explain the hesitation. And that it was not due to lack of desire for giving her what she asked for.
"My father used to sing to me," he began to tell her. "A tradition in my family for generations." For his father used to sing to him, and his before him. "One that I hope to carry on." When the baby came, perhaps even before them. "And it is all thanks to you, for giving me the chance to do so," he added on, kissing her on the cheek. Though she had told him that shewould give him a kiss if he sang, he couldn't help but steal one himself.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He couldn't help but smile at her tease. How blessed he was to have earned the love of such a woman. He shifted closer to her, tilting his head to the side a little. He leaned closer to her, pausing just a mere inch before their lips would touch. "I can think of a way or two," he said softly in a low voice, letting the position linger for only a few moments until he closed the distance, kissing her.
One hand let go of hers and instead, wrapped around her waist to gently hold her against him. Yes, he had made quite the mistake tonight and had certainly learned from it. But being able to resolve it . . . being able to move forward, that was what mattered. Letting the embrace linger for the few wonderful moments it did, he slowly eased out of it, though remained quite close. "Is that good enough?" He asked in the same tone of voice he had used earlier. "Or do I have more making up to do?" His voice very clearly a tease, and just enjoying these moments of being together. Of being in love.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION The light smile remained on his lips as she teased him, asking what they had done on their wedding night. The question really . . . was what hadn't they done. Before he could answer or offer any remark in return, she hurried out of the room and his smile grew a bit as he watched her. He had not failed to notice her attire, and how he was once able to sense the metal so well. Now, it was just flickers but . . . it was there. It was more than it had been in a year. He looked around the room and began to pick up the clothing, neatly folding it and putting it away.
The time before he was taken, he had been very -- overly -- meticulous when it came to cleaning and organization. Since his return, he had not been. A loss of control and so the mess had not bothered him. Though he didn't overly think it, he knew that picking things up now . . . returned him to the former state of who he was. Of having that control back in his life. It was a start. Once the things were put away, he went to check on Nina, carefully pushing the door open just a little bit more, seeing she was still sleeping soundly. He then made his way downstairs to join Magda in the kitchen. "We need to talk about last night," he said as casually as he could, but there was a seriousness to his voice. With Nina still sleeping, and with his returning powers . . . he needed to have this conversation with Magda, sooner rather than later.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik was relieved when she didn't pull from his touch. Instead, she curled her fingers around him. While he knew this was not enough to permanently damage their relationship . . . he was still relieved to know that they could hopefully resolve it tonight before going to bed. He gave a bit of a smile at her question. "It's a risk I'm willing to take," he said, and though her words were not exactly teasing . . . his were spoken on the lighter side.
"She and you are what are most precious to me in this entire world," he told her. "I doubt I can deny either of you of a great deal." The same teasing tone but, there was truth to it. Deciding to further the risk, he raised her hand joined with his to his lips, lightly kissing the back of it. He loved them both more than anything, and he wanted to only make them happy, especially with all they had sacrificed for him. Magda did not have to bare this life of hiding, but she had. She did. And he would never take that for granted. As she spoke of how she wanted those things for her, and did not want her to see the same persecution they both had suffered. That she had wanted to see her joy.
Only that . . . it was his own fault that Nina was put in this position. Not Magda's. But he knew better than to say that. An internal guilt that he carried with him. "I know," he said quietly. "I never intended to deny you of that." He hadn't thought deeply about it. Only that his daughter had asked for something, and his immediate reaction was agreement. "And I won't, ever again." He moved to take her free hand in his, looking softly at her. "I will make this up to you. I promise." He would find a way.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She thought he meant he was worried about himself and his own safety. He was easily able to take care of himself . . . which, was a bit of a contradictory thought considering he had been impaired and wound up here on the bed. But perhaps he thought more of her husbands anger should he be discovered or her affiliation with him be known. Though she was right; he would need his strength and his abilities were directly linked with his physical condition. If he was weak, he would not be as effective. After pausing in silence for a few moments, he finally spoke. "It is not my safety I am concerned about." He turned his head a little so that he could look at her, also knowing he had to address her earlier words. For it remained to be the elephant in the room, and he wasn't entirely sure he could actually rest until they had that . . . inevitable conversation.
One that perhaps had festered and grown over the past few meetings they had. "Because I know why you do it." Expressing his knowledge of it, his words having a deeper impact, indicating her revelation when she assumed he was still unconscious and unable to hear. He doubted the words would have been uttered otherwise. "Just as I know . . . " She still loved him. As she had said, and yes. He knew that. But hearing it . . . threatened to open those emotions he had thought dormant. Despite it and the different paths their lives had taken in terms of relationships . . . he still knew they had to have this conversation. For it might be the last if things grew more complicated than they already were. "And perhaps you shouldn't." Love him. He turned his head away to look at the ceiling. "Just as you should not be taking this risk." Of keeping him here.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik remained quiet as Magda spoke and explained her reasons for being hurt. He had never wanted to hurt her. It was never his intention and he knew that she was aware of that. But still. It didn't change the fact that he had done so. She spoke of their bond as a mutant and that she wanted to be a part of all these moments with her. With them. Her firsts. He remained silent; a thoughtful silence. He knew he should have thought more before taking her but . . . him being unable to say no to her was only part of the reason. The simplistic reasoning for it. After several moments of silence that followed her words, ensuring she was finish and ready for him to speak as he did not wish to interrupt . . . he spoke.
"We both know it is difficult for me to say no to Nina," he said with a bit of a smile, a light tease but he would not leave it at that. As she was honest with him, he would of course be honest with her in regards to what he had been thinking. "I never wanted any child of mine to live in a world where she had to hide her gifts." Their daughter's powers. He had fought for mutant rights -- albeit in a radical way -- for so many years of his life.
"And it, pains me that our daughter has to." Because of him. The unspoken words, but implied ones. Because of choices he had made, they were all in hiding now. "Hearing her ask to go to the zoo, knowing it is a place where she could . . . express herself through her abilities. No restraints. Just pure joy . . . I didn't even think twice." Part of it was deep seated guilt, for putting her in this position where she couldn't talk about her powers.
Especially as Erik's entire political standpoint and belief system had been one where mutants should not have to hide. Where they could be themselves. He took the risk of walking over to her, slowly taking her hand in his, aware that she might pull away. But he did so anyway, just as he look deeply into her eyes, sincerity in his gaze and tone of voice. "And I should have." Thought twice about it. "I'm sorry." He had no issue in admitting fault, especially to his wife when there was very little that hurt or upset her. A wife who had stood by him in all of this.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION His light smile remained as she said she felt the same . . . that the walk to the kitchen would be a long one. While he never wanted to cause her any pain, he knew that this was something good. Last night, had been incredible and he was looking forward to the promising future it held for them. He felt the warmth of her kiss upon his chest before watching her get out of bed. He looked at the scattered clothing, tempted to try and use his abilities to bring his pants to him. But . . . feared the disappointment that he wouldn't be able to.
He full well knew he hadn't the same control over it as he did before. It would perhaps take time. Erik had spent a decade in a prison . . . he knew a thing or two about patience. As long as there was -- dare he say -- hope. Quietly, he too got out of bed, getting his more comfortable pants on and a shirt to pull over it. "It reminds me of our wedding night," he said with a small smile. The celebration of their union, and the inability to keep their hands off of each other that came with it. The way they woke up with the aftermath of the vigor of their activities, yet it hadn't stopped them from enjoying the morning in each other's company. The fact that they were able to find that again . . . yes. It was most certainly hope for their future.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Despite her hasty attempt to hide the evidence . . . it was there. She had been caught and yet, seemed to think that by dismissing the fact that she was sitting here, in his room, on his chest, with his hat on her head . . . exempted her from explanation. Not to mention her somewhat accusatory statement of sneaking up on her. As if he was currently in the wrong. While he didn't have anything to hide per say, there were personal belongings that if found, would open up conversations that he wasn't ready to have with others. And she found the one place where it was all contained.
Starting with the locket that he currently held in his hand. "Oh, I'm sorry," he began to say though his tone was stoic and very obviously lacked apology in it. "For sneaking up on you in my room while you were looking through my things." The chest, not to mention her attire. But, as Lorna ignored the present situation . . . Magneto easily ignored her words about the farmland. Perhaps they did have more in common than one would think. "And by the way, nice hat." More sarcasm. His expression and tone clearly unamused. He wasn't entirely sure what she was looking for, but he was certainly going to find out.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Hearing her reaction, had Erik put away another cup, before setting the cloth down, turning around so that his back was against the counter, hands by his side, and looking at her. He gave a slow nod of his head, indicating that he was ready to listen, and would not say a word in between to interrupt. They didn't have arguments often. And disagreements were natural and eve healthy for two people in a relationship.
He knew she was hurt but he also knew that listening to the details of it was incredibly important. Perhaps he couldn't take it back, but he would at least know how to make it better. But talking, communication . . . well, even Erik knew the full importance of that. So the least he could do was give his wife his undivided attention and do as she requested: just listen.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik had been helping a few others get settled in before mapping out which land they could use for farming purposes. The vision for Genosha was growing as the population was too. He envisioned it would become a mutant nation; a strong nation. But, this was for the future. Right now, they were simply making necessary accommodations for those who wished to reside here. Having finished a little earlier than planned, he made his way back to his home, and heard noises from his room. Unafraid of a potential threat, he floated his way up, standing in the threshold, able to recognize the back of that head anywhere. The green colour of it rather distinct. Though, most of the top was hidden by . . . one of his hats, apparently.
He didn't say anything as she had pulled out the necklace, having found the box he kept concealed and for good reason. Slightly turning his hand, the necklace flew from her grasp -- even though it wasn't technically in her hand -- and immediately went into his palm, in which he casually closed his fingers over it. The idea of Lorna being his daughter was still one he was adjusting to. They both were. But, it opened up a part of him that he had closed off for a decade. Fatherhood. Ever since losing Nina, he doubted he could be a father again . . . the fear of losing a child too great. But Lorna, had caused that part of his heart to reopen, no matter how afraid he was of letting it. He didn't say anything. He just looked at her, holding the sentimental piece of jewellery in his hand as he looked at her expectantly. Waiting for an explanation.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik continued to feel Magda's eyes on him for the entire ride home as Nina continued to tell stories about the zoo. With each one, he felt as if Magda's gaze was piercing deeper and deeper into him. Though eventually, Nina's energy and enthusiasm started to wane. Not due to lacking excitement but rather, the tiredness that was starting to take over. And when she drifted to sleep, silence filled the car instead. By the time they got home, she was fast asleep. Erik got out and carefully picked Nina up, carrying her inside and getting her ready for bedtime.
He also knew that perhaps he was stalling, ever so slightly because he knew that he and Magda were going to have that conversation. Once Nina was tucked in bed, comfortable and asleep, Erik made his way down stairs to see Magda in the kitchen, cleaning a few things up. He didn't even ask if she needed help as he took hold of a towel and started to dry the dishes. He wasn't even sure how to casually start the conversation, considering anything he asked about her day or gout, would only serve as a reminder of them going to the zoo. Not that she was likely to forget it. "I can finish up in here," he offered, looking at her to try and get a sense of how she would react . . . and whether the conversation was going to be an inevitable one.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik knew it was a difficult thing to understand, just as it was a difficult thing to explain. But if there was anyone who could, it was Magda. She had been there to witness it, and endured her own horrors at the camps. She knew the evils of the man and the way he experimented. Though he wasn't sure what kind of reaction his words would draw from her, he was grateful and relieved for the way she responded. Taking his hand which provided immediate comfort, and underlying understanding in her tone. As if recognizing that this was something he had to do. But he knew there was more to it. There was always more to it. For he'd left a trail of blood in his path to Shaw, and he was not going to only tell her half of the truth.
"He goes by Sebastian Shaw." His real name, apparently. The mind was a true mystery. But years of digging, research and . . . methods of persuasion, Erik had managed to uncover the true identity of the man. "Possibly," he stated answering her question. He wasn't optimistic enough to believe that he would find him so easily . . . but he had to follow each lead. It would only make him one step closer to finding Shaw. "I've been following leads, to see where they take me." If they take him any closer to the object of his hunt. "Most of them involve Nazis." The men that had followed these awful orders, using that as their excuse. Well, Erik was bringing them to justice as well and holding them accountable for their actions.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She helped remove her underwear and made quick work of her bra. Erik took full advantage, helping part her legs so that he could settle comfortably between them. His hand wrapped around his cock, trying not to get distracted over the fact that it was not yet thick with arousal. Magda had always been incredibly desirable, and he'd not struggled in the past when it came to being fully erect . . . so the thought was unsettling. But not one he was quick to give up on. Instead, it just resulted in a more heated kiss, coaxing her mouth open with his own to deepen it.
One hand still between them where he felt her slick with need, longing to fulfil it by filling her completely. His other hand went to her breast, cupping it and massaging it in the palm of his hand. While he wished to distract his mind, he felt it practically screaming at his body . . . urging it to do what it should be in this moment. Much like the way it had when trying to force the movement of metal. He refused, absolutely refused, to meet this with the same failure that had been. And the sudden fear of the possibility, had him kiss her harder, and attempt to thrust his cock inside of her.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He closed his eyes, embracing the kiss, soaking in it as a wonderful way to start the day. When she broke it, he slowly opened his eyes and looked at her, his lips curving a little into a smile. "Yes," he said softly, raising a hand to brush back a strand of her hair from her cheek. He actually felt hungry, which was something else that wasn't exactly frequent.
His state had stilled many things, including hunger as it came fleetingly, rather than consistently. But this morning . . . he felt it. Perhaps it was after all they had done last night, and how it had clearly worked up an appetite. It had been years since he'd been so active. "Last night worked up an appetite," he said lightly, teasingly. How good it felt to fall back into the same lighthearted remarks they were once used to. The return of his abilities changing his state of mind to a less . . . dark and distant one. There was hope and he wanted to embrace that with his wife.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik knew he was in trouble. The moment Nina went on about the zoo, this time in what Erik presumed was more detail since it was only them in the car . . . he could feel Magda's eyes on him. He didn't dare return the gaze. Though he occasionally looked from his peripheral vision and could see Magda's look of . . . displeasure. At least looking in the review mirror he saw Nina's excitement while she spoke . . . but each story she told, he could feel his wife's expression piercing deeper into him.
After a while, he finally spoke. "Nina, love, you must be tired." Not that he ever wanted to silence his daughter but . . . she had a long day and . . . Magda was clearly not happy as the conversation pressed on. "Why don't we listen to some music to help get some rest." Something soothing, he thought, as he put on the radio. Anything to fill the silence and keep from each amazing story. While he loved hearing it -- despite having experienced it -- he knew it was only putting him deeper and deeper in trouble with his beloved wife.
