Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION This was perhaps the closest to being relaxed that Erik had ever been. Who knew, that it was a single presence that would allow him to rest in a way he had not since being taken to the camps. A place that had changed both their lives. But his mind was not focused on that time, shockingly. Yet, everything he did was linked to her. Currently, he was sitting with Magda outside on the small balcony of the hotel room he was in. They were both seated on the elongated chair, looking up at the starry sky. She knew of his abilities -- she had known since the camps -- but she didn't know his mission.
But, he knew he would have to tell her, especially since he had to follow a new lead that would take him out of the city and potentially, out of the country . . . as it always did. The past little while he had spent with her hand been incredible, and he wasn't ready for it to end. But nor, could he expect her to journey with him on this path of vengeance. Leaving a trail of bodies in its wake. They had been sitting in a comfortable silence for a little while, his arms around her, as he appreciated the view and the person he was with. But finally, the words that needed to be said, escaped his lips. "You're too good for this world." And he meant it. The world was a dark place, and she was perhaps the only light in it.

Take my hand, take my whole life tooMagda was in paradise! She was sitting on a balcony, resting against the man she was falling in love with, and thinking that this was everything she could imagine wanting! Erik and her and found each other at the wall and reconnected. Ever since they had begun this thing between them. It was something magikal. Something special. She knew that everyone fell in love, but they fit so well together. It had to be something amazing! Magikal!
They were magik!
He called her too good for this world. Magda laughed softly, and looked up at his handsome back. Her fingers lifted to trace his jawline. "Hardy," she said playfully, "I just fit you," Her voice might have hinted at teasing him, but her words from from the heart. Erik was a serious man. He dressed serious, and he stayed in serious hotels. She liked adding some mess to his life. A wrinkled shirt, messy foods, and laughter--all the laughing she could pull from him.
For I can't help falling in love with you

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He loved hearing the melodic sound of her laughter. It was so light, so . . . innocent. She told him she fit him and . . . he agreed. She did. They both fit each other and despite whatever relations he'd had with women in the past, none were like this. None so, committed. None so effortless to just be oneself. Magda was special, and he wasn't ready to let her go. But, he also would not lie to her. Especially not her. She knew about his powers the first night they met; she was the first person he had admitted it to.
A chance to tell someone of his own choosing, which . . . had seldom happened. If ever. The manifestation of his powers had been through pain and anger, but with her, he was able to just tell her. And he knew that he would have to do the same when it came to what he was doing. He had purposely avoided the topic of his work, and Magda knew him well enough to not press. But tonight, he needed to be completely honest with her. Smiling as she gaze up at him, he titled his head down a bit to meet her lips, kissing her lightly before drawing back. "These past few days have been incredible," he told her honestly, wanting her to know that.

Take my hand, take my whole life tooHis kissed her, and if she had thought the night could not get any better, she was proven wrong! Oh so wrong! A kiss under the stars as they just sat here was perfect! Smiling brightly up at him when he pulled back she knew his words held more meaning then what they expressed. While she hadn't known him long, she was learning to pick up on more then just his words. Erik seemed like a man of thought, rather then feeling; but Magda knew better. He was both and it made him both easy to know, and hard to know.
While his words meant a great deal, and she loved hearing them, they were a beginning. He was going to say something important. "Incredible. I like this word!" She teased him, "I agree, they have been incredible!" Smiling she rested her hands in his lap, letting her body rest into his. Touching him was a pleasure that she dind't intend to be a rare pleasure. She liked it, and she knew he did too. He needed someone to touch him.
"I didn't expect this, but I never want to forget this moment." She would give him time to say his important words as he was ready. Magda knew she wouldn't have to push them out. He wasn't a coward. He just took his time.
For I can't help falling in love with you

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He quite liked that she agreed. And yet, it made this all the harder. Though they shared the thought of this being rather, unexpected. He'd always wondered if he would see her again, yet he had never expected things to go in this direction. The nomadic life he led hindered forming any close relationships -- though that not being the sole reason, it did certainly play a big part. "Neither do I," he told her quietly, sincerely. He wanted -- needed -- her to know that.
He also knew that he couldn't keep avoiding the subject. Tonight may be the last night they had together and unlike the others he had been with, he wasn't just going to walk away and never look back. "I have to leave for Italy tomorrow," he told her. "For work." It wasn't a lie. It merely lacked the details, but . . . tonight, he had to tell her. She had to know that the work he did, was something far bigger than just a simple job. For a simple job, was not enough to part him from her company.

Take my hand, take my whole life tooIt took a few seconds for hos words to seem into her, and once they did she felt disappointed. He was leaving? For Italy! She had always wanted to go, and now he was leaving so soon. Blinking slowly, Magda moved to sit up so she could see his face better. "Tomorrow?" She asked, the word coming out slowly as she was still trying to accept what he said.
Magda adjusted once more, this time drawing her knees up under her, so her skirt covered her legs, and hung over the side of the couch they shared right now. She knew he traveled often, but would he back. "For how long?" A long trip or short trip? Would he come back to see her, or was he saying good bye. Even though he was only in her life for a little while, she wasn't ready to say good bye. "Italy." She repeated slowly.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik knew it was soon, but at the same time . . . his trips were not exactly planned. He went where the leads took him. He went, wherever would take him one step closer to Shaw. "Yes," he answered, returning the gaze. Previously, it had never been difficult to leave a place behind . . . not until now. He wanted to ask her to go with him, but also knew he couldn't. Not until she knew the whole truth. And even then, what right did he have to ask her to join him for this kind of madness? Because yes. He knew that was exactly what it was.
Yet, it had become his purpose. His reason for waking up in the morning. "I'm not sure," he answered honetsly. "My work has me travelling," he said, knowing he did not broach the subject of his work often. And in doing so now, opened the door to elaborate on it. It was time. So that she knew his reason for leaving and that it wasn't anything related to her. "At unexpected times," he continued, looking at her with soft intent. "And undesired times." His words revealing that he did indeed want to stay here, with her.

Take my hand, take my whole life tooNot sure meant not soon. Magda was used to being alone, but this felt different. She wasn't ready to be alone after him. "How unfair," She said softly, her voice a more half hearted tease then a complaint. "That we would just find each other only for it to be so short." Would she see him again? Should she ask for a way to try to find him one day?
Magda had never asked out right about his job, and she wondered now what allowed him to travel so much. She both envied it and wished he was a simple farmer. "What is it you do, that is taking you so far?" Lifting her hand she rested it on his shoulder, wanting to touch him. If tonight was all they had left she wanted to feel closer to him. She wondered if she could sit here all night with him, and just talk. If tonight was all they had she wouldn't leave until he made her. She'd make the most of it.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Yes. It did seem rather unfair. He should have known better than to get too attached. Too . . . emotionally invested, aware of what he was doing and the impossibility to compromise his mission. Yet, Magda seemed to be the exception to a great deal. Her presence granting him a calm he'd not had since before his family was taken. His silence, held agreement to her words . . . for he too did not want to part from her. Especially since he wasn't even certain if he would see her again. Just as he had never been sure if he would see her after the camps. After he'd watched her escape. Then, she directly asked him. What he did. He had created that opening and knew that he could not evade the question anymore.
She had been incredibly patient and understanding of his lacking desire to talk about it, and had not pressed about his work in the days they spent together. But now . . . he needed to be honest. She was perhaps the only one he could be completely honest about when it came to his life's mission. For she had been there. She had seen it. He took a slow breath, remaining composed, despite the sudden unfamiliarity of vocalizing it to someone. To anyone, which he had never done before.
She had been the first person he had ever told of his abilities; that he had ever had the choice of telling. And now, she would be the first he told his mission to. Out of desire. "I'm looking for the man who killed my mother." The words so . . . casually spoken, yet holding a great weight to them. For Magda would know that it was linked to the camp. And, if she knew him well enough . . . would know that by 'looking', he really meant 'hunting'. Because Erik had every intention of killing him.

Take my hand, take my whole life tooHis words were not the ones she was braced to hear. She sat very still while her mind attempted to understand his words. Looking for the man who killed his mother. She had never met Eddie but she knew of her death. Dr. Schmidt had shot her in effort to make Erik use his powers--and when it worked he had began finding other ways to make him use his powers. She had been the first, but most impactful.
He was looking for Schmidt. Magda blinked slowly, while trying to find a way to react to this. He was looking for the man who had killed his mother, and did vile, horrible things to Erik in the name of understanding how Erik had this . . . . this magik. Blinking a few more time, she opened her lips to try to say something, but nothing came out. He lived like this? Going place to place to look for him. To what end?
He was not looking for a confrontation. He was looking for blood. "Schmidt." Magda felt cold, and her arms moved closer to her body. Schmidt was a evil man, and she didn't like the idea that he was out there. He'd killed and done worse to so many. Erik. "I didn't know he was still out there." She finally was able to say in a slow voice, as she still thought about his words. Like a rock dropped in a pond the ripples got bigger. Each second making his words deeper, and having a new layer or meaning. He was hunting a monster for revenge after killing his mother.
Reaching her hands out she took his hand into both of her's and pulled it to her lap. She didn't like the idea of him doing this, not because she wanted Schmidt alive but because she wanted Erik to have peace. What if Schmidt was hurting others? "And you think he is in Italy?" She asked, holding his hand, her fingers rubbing over his skin. She was trying to give him comfort, knowing that if he was doing this then he had no real job. He'd already said there wasn't anyone in his life. His hunt for Schmidt was all he had. She didn't like him facing this alone.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik knew it was a difficult thing to understand, just as it was a difficult thing to explain. But if there was anyone who could, it was Magda. She had been there to witness it, and endured her own horrors at the camps. She knew the evils of the man and the way he experimented. Though he wasn't sure what kind of reaction his words would draw from her, he was grateful and relieved for the way she responded. Taking his hand which provided immediate comfort, and underlying understanding in her tone. As if recognizing that this was something he had to do. But he knew there was more to it. There was always more to it. For he'd left a trail of blood in his path to Shaw, and he was not going to only tell her half of the truth.
"He goes by Sebastian Shaw." His real name, apparently. The mind was a true mystery. But years of digging, research and . . . methods of persuasion, Erik had managed to uncover the true identity of the man. "Possibly," he stated answering her question. He wasn't optimistic enough to believe that he would find him so easily . . . but he had to follow each lead. It would only make him one step closer to finding Shaw. "I've been following leads, to see where they take me." If they take him any closer to the object of his hunt. "Most of them involve Nazis." The men that had followed these awful orders, using that as their excuse. Well, Erik was bringing them to justice as well and holding them accountable for their actions.

Take my hand, take my whole life tooMagda hadn't known adult Erik long, and she hadn't known child Erik long either, but the bond they had made meant she KNEW him without having to know him. If Erik was hunting down the man who killed his mother, and did unspeakable things to him, then his life had a darkness in it. One she wished she could help ease. Yet she knew this was something he had to do. "He goes by Sebastian Shaw." Changing names was common for some of the men trying to hide from justice. What little could be served to the men who's done these things to people in the camps.
She held his hand while he explained more. She wasn't foolish, she knew that his leads were men who had hurt and killed many, and that justice might not always mean calling the police. Magda's people had a distrust for the police anyway. She wasn't quite sure what he was doing for justice. "They cannot be willing to talk to you." Which meant his life was not only filled with revenge, but violence and solitude.
But she understood. This Shaw man, had taken a child and used emotional and physical pain to try to draw out the magik that he had. She'd seen him them. She'd seen him just trying to find the will to live. She understood he needed to do this.
