"This will help soothe your throat a little," Grabbing the water she drank it back, before glaring up at him as it did little to ease the burning she felt, and in fact only made the burning feeling spread in her belly. Slowly however, either from time or the water, the burning was fading. "How could I poison you from my own glass?" "I don't know! You gots some weird mutant pow'ers or some'ing!" He was lucky her powers hadn't tried to attack him! . . . . in fact she was surprised this hadn't.
"It may be beneficial to exercise patience, Lana," "What ev'!" She waved her had dismissing the idea, "I dind't attack you!" Lana was trying to find how why but the whole 'look inside yourself' thing was confusing because she didn't know how she'd just did it. "I was freaking out, and I though I might like drown or choke ta death, but I dind't attack you! With my powers!"
"That's the first time I've never not lost control!" Whatever he had done to her today was working! "Did you feel anything?"

"Right." She muttered, before turning to walk down the hall--"No left!" Turning she spun and ran down the hall way, her boots making thumping sounds as she did as he told her. As she got to where he ride was, he turned and grinned, calling out a 'are you ready to get out of here?' but Lana waved him back as she kept moving, and and used her powers to keep him willing, "Just sit and wait!"
Getting to the doors she pushed them opened and all but fell though them, as she hurried to find out who had been in her head. Coming face to face with him, left her . . . . surprised. He didn't look like a headmaster. He was younger then she'd thought. Walking slowly toward his desk, Lana used her powers to see what emotions she felt there, even the smaller ones. You could learn a lot about a person with the smaller emotions that they never displayed. "Yyyooouuu'rrreeee in charge here?" She asked in a disbelieving tone, while pointing casually at him. "You don't look like a grumpy old man who hates kids." Wasn't that was all headmasters were?

"Isn't it the objective of every game to win?" "Isn't that whot I just said?" Lana countered, missing Magneto's deep thinking, and rather assuming he was just funing her. "Surprisingly, you're actually right," Squaring her shoulders, Lana raised her chin in mock defiance, as if to boldly enjoy his words that she was right. "I have my moments."
"There is also a Queen in the game," "Really?" "She is the most powerful player on the board," "Course she is! She's the bloody queen! . . . Wait, bett'r then the king?" Cause that was cool. Women over powering the men! Maybe the game wasn't so dumb after all! She could see the appeal, not enough to learn it, but enough to enjoy the finer points.
"Perhaps I was mentally playing the game," That sounded boring! "You got nothing better ta do then sit there and try to beat yer self? Really?" Looking around she held out her hands, "You got all this and you rather think about a game?" Lana wasn't one to sit and think, as she was more active. "Which one is the queen? I will trade you the king and I will play with them and you can with the boys. . . . it will be boys vs girls checkers-chess-whatever."
"Hey where do I get one of them?" She pointed to his drink before standing and reaching for it, lifting it to her lips Lana took a rather large swallow before trying to couch it up and swallow at the same time--which left her gagging and burning! "BLOODY SHITE WHAT THE BLEEDING HELL WAS THAT!" She asked couching more and tears on her face from the effect it was having. "It's burning! It's like acid! Did you just bloody poison me?!"

Lana had decided to try right, just as a voice in her hear told her to turn left--then called her by name. Jerking her head one way, then the other, Lana looked for the source. There was no one. The voice had called her by name, and then talked about her powers! Lana froze, her arms slightly extended from her body as she was trying to decide if she was going mad or if she was about to be attacked.
Closing her eyes, she used her powers to try and seek out the emotions near her. Were any hostel? No. "Who the hell are you?" She called out, no longer worried about unsettling any tikes running around. Someone was in her head! . . . . which meant she wasn't the only mutant around here. "Where they hell are you?" He wasn't even close! She could tell how close people were by their emotions most the time. Not well, but enough to know he wasn't directly near her!

These boots were made for walkin'--but that wasn't what they were gonna do. In fact she wasn't even currently walking, she was riding. With some guy she'd met and used her powers to make him willing to give her a ride out of town. He was going up to some school that his cousin was attending to drop off a package for them, and then going north. Which was good, cause Lana needed to put some distant between her and where she had been. Spending too long in a place increased her chances of getting caught.
He told her that she could wait in the car, but that wasn't happening. It had taken forever to get here and she was going to use the ladies before getting back into it. Some guy had answered, and shown her were it was. He was young and nerdy looking, and taller then her. Which wasn't impressive, she was only five one. It made her look even younger then she was.
After washing her hands, Lana walked out and tried to remember which way to go. "Shite!" She grumbled, only to hear a soft gasp. Turning she saw a little kid there, and apparently they were shocked by her choice of words. "Hey no I was . . . you know what ev. How I get back to the door, kid?" They kid turned and bolted, and Lana groaned. Time to get out of here before she got in trouble. But which way?

"It's chess actually." Lana repeated, copying his way of speaking, while making her back go straight and her shoulders square to appear more proper. "Is the objective to win?" She asked but knew the answer (mostly) so she kept going, "So not so different after all." And who didn't play to win?
Lana looked at the one in her hand, taking note of it. "Is castle another word for rook?" She asked, still mimicking his form of speech, while trying to understand why a castle wasn't a castle. Then she looked at the board and took note of all the different types of pieces. "This is going to be a game of many rules, is it not?" Which limited her interest of the game. No longer pretending to talk like him, she asked another question. "Why were you lookin' at it like it was a big question?" Or was he just the type to stop and stare?

Lana's eye widened as she watched Magneto turn blue! HE TURNED EFFING BLUE! Then grow girl parts and then turned blonde with girl parts! "WHAT THE ShITE!" Lana freaked out, backing up and staring at her for a long minute. Then everything began to connect, "You like changed your voice and your self?"
She was quite for another moment before she spoke up again, "That was like totally wicked!" She said, her London accent coming out stronger from the excitement. Clearly this was another mutant here! She should have picked up on the emotions but never had she met another like this or with this level of physically change.

Lana was still having trouble adjusting from the life on the street to the spender that was this place. Whoever this Shaw guy was, he had great tastes--or a great decorator. The mad a a statue in his over grown yard! Or what had they called it? A garden? Only nothing grew there you could eat. The life of the wealthy.
Hoping down the steps rather the walking down them, Lana didn't hide where she was going. Since coming here she had jumped on her bed like a 100 times, and not one person yelled at her. She'd even walked outside of the bedroom without everything she owned on her in case she wouldn't go back! Her guard was dropping and she wasn't even scared by that.
Seeing the back of Magento's head as she walked into the room, Lana grinned and ran forward, jumping on the couch beside him--unmindful of his drink--before looking at what was before him. "Hey old man, this is a winked checkers board!" She said moving around to the other side and picking up one of the bigger pieces. "Why they look all different?"

So here is how this works! I ask a question in my post, and who ever replies has to answer it, then ask one of their own, or a 'this or that' or something! Nothing major, just light and fun questions. Anyone can join in!!
Question: Night owl, or Day flower?

Lana could not pin point the emotion in the crowd until she felt the fear jump. That was when she saw it! Fire! Not coming from any weapon but a boy! "Bloody hell!" She muttered taking a step backwards, as he set fire to the building! Everyone began to panic, and some panic was turning into a fear fueled rage--just as she knew it would happen. Her eyes looked on, wide with the fear she could not help but to feel with everyone so close.
Stepping closer, Lana held out her hand, and used her powers to help calm the rowdiest ones. The fire boy, the few with him, the humans who were about to start a fight back. Everyone began running away, and Lana tried to hold the emotions down--but with so many, and her own emotions hindering her, she knew that she could not stop it for long. She also knew that she would be noticed standing here like this.

I love Toad! Ray Park FTW! I had a thread once where my muse tired to makes owls attack him and then he ate them! Hehe! He was trying to chance her down, but she'd run one way and he'd hop and block her, then she run the other and he'd hop and block her. SO FUNNY!

"It's a good thing you're pretty, tight pants." Lana put her hands on her hips, and explained, "This guy is new, it means I don't have a lot of trust for him and his. You need me to go in first and make sure things feel--" She reached up to tamp her temple "--alright. Because if they are setting a trap, the second they see that box open, or something twitch they will be all over you--and I am not going to get you out of another cage."
Now she sighed, "There is no hypowhatever about this. It's either, why yes I would love to make some quick cash, let me pack a bag! Or, get the bloody hell out of my place and find another poor sod. I make my money by making sure all sides are kept hidden. I don't tell who my clients are, and I don't get mutants like you exposed for things they are still set on keeping hidden."
"All you need to know right now is that I don't know him enough to trust him--just like I don't know you enough to trust you." She used to be a bit naive, and trusting but her time with Magneto had changed that. Or helped it change, she still was trusting both these guys a bit too much for her own good. "So it is either we both go, or you stay and I still get the job done, only a bit harder. You know the risks, you know the reward. What say you?"

Oh she knew she had his attention--she could feel his shift in mood. Feel the details of it. Lana wished sometimes their was a way to turn it off sometimes but in times like this she was grateful for it. "Like I said, the bloke gave my a creepy feeling, but most men tend to give that off every now and them. Hazard of knowing their mood."
"There is a bank five hours north. If you say, decide to take the offer, we'd head out tonight and wait til morning to scout the place. That's my job. This--" She gestured to her short height, and small frame "--don't look threatening. I ask some questions, bat my eyes and then leave. Once I know everything is clear, then you go in. The unseen way. You walk to the vault, open the box, take what's inside and walk out. I then give you half of your cut, and the other half when I get paid."
"What's your cut?" She grinned, and shrugged at his question, letting him use his imagination. "I don't interrogate you, tight pants, you don't get to peek either."
With that she felt like making one last point, "Look, if the man was paying humans for this he'd be paying a group of idiots the same price and they'd cut it six ways, rob the place and make a lot of news. By me giving mutants jobs, no one has to get hurt, no one has to even know, and we get more money between the two of us."

This time she did roll her eyes and let out a sigh, "What ev." If he wanted to play nasty then she'd wouldn't play friends. "I came because I have a job for you. And off the books one, if you get the feel." One that would be less then legal. "I know some guys, and I make my money by doing jobs for them, or finding people who can get the job done--for a fee." She was the middle-woman so to speak.
"This new guy, he's sort of shady, but he is offering to pay half up front. The rest when we deliver the good. A thousand dollars . . . . and that's just your take home pay, tight pants." Which meant he was offing more money, but she was taking her cut. "It's a simple enough job for you. Walk through a wall, stay invisible, steal something out of a deposit box."
"Now do you want to hear more, or do I need to else where cause you're tired of me?"

He snapped at her before going over to get a drink, and then drinking it before her. Lana rolled her eyes, but she could feel his emotions and knew she had insulted him. "My bad," Her tone wasn't apologetic, but more one that said she understood she'd crossed a line. "I'd lived in worse, believe it if you will, but I lived worse places then this. I just don't see the point of it if you could do better."
She had ran away from home years before she met Erik who took her in and showed her a better way to live. While she didn't agree with the 'TO WAR!' mindset, she did enjoy the her ability to get the finer things in life. "You got a job, so you live here by choice. Why?"

"Don't snap at me because you rather work like a dog." She demanded as they walked into his building. Pausing at the bottom of the steps as he walked up them, Lana stared after him. Really? Granted just over a year ago she was living on the streets but since then she had learned to live differently, and these shoes weren't street shoes.
Though the view while climbing the windowless steps made it worth it. Finally at the top she walked in and looked around, before opening her coat, and setting it to the side. She looked out of place, and Lana doubted he'd believe her if she told him she spent years in places worst then this. "Now I don't know how the whole working from 9 to 5 thing is, but . . . I would have thought you'd be able to get a better place then this." Looking around, she took in the small place, noting where everything was, and his personal belongings.
After a moment she turned to look at him, "Gonna offer a girl a drink, tight pants?"

He had a place . . . nearby? Lana looked around, before turning toward where he nodded. He had a place in this neighborhood? Or was he going to make her walk a few blocks in these shoes? Lana didn't try to hide the judgement from her face, but nor did it say there long. His teasing distracted her. "In these shoes? You don't expect a girl to walk when she can catch a free ride now, do ya?" While her coat hid her bright blue dress, her white knee high boots could be seen--and as she was short, she made up for it with heel.
Turning to walk with him, they began the trip toward 'his place' while she continued. "Lets just say you have something I need, and couldn't get anywhere else." She made her words have a double meaning from her tone, "so I didn't even bother changing me clothes in my hurry." Her accent slipped some, going deeper then it was at other times. Lana's stride was smaller then his, making her having to take two steps for his every one. "Don't worry, I'll make it worth your time.

Instead of feeling awkward he countered her words, telling her the view would be better but that she'd never know until she got the extra sight needed to see past his clothing. Touche. He went on to ask how she planned to get out, "Oh I imagine their will be a bloody lot of running involved."
Down halls, past men, making them feel just the right things to distract them from getting their grubby hands on her. "But uh, good luck with your walking. I'd like to see that." Her tone made it clear she doubted he would be walking anywhere. "Step one, tight pants, is how do you plan get out of your cage?" She knew how she'd get out, but stopping to aid others wasn't high on her list--not to say she wouldn't if she had a chance, but just that she'd make sure she could get out first. "They seem very intent on keeping you in."

Lana waited outside the gates for him to come, and when he did she smiled over (and up) at him. "Now, now, tight pants, your hot but . . . I'm not that type of girl." She was teasing him, tight pants being the name she called him because of how well his pants seemed to fit him--and she noticed. Noticed it well. "I am here about something else."
Her eyes shifted behind him to some of his coworkers leaving and she decided this wasn't the place to talk, as he still managed to keep his powers hidden from most others in his life, where as she had her feet firmly in the mutant world. "About something we have in common." Their mutant parts. "Got some place we can talk? If not then we can catch a cab to my place."

"Nah," She almost laughed at how wrong he was, "Not even close." Her eyes drifted over him and she resorted to an old habit of making up for her short height and lack of protection by making the others feel uncomfortable, "If I did then I could right past them pants of yours, and at least the view might be better."
The emotions changed and she could feel the men getting ready. They'd come for them soon. If only to make sure they were in their cages for the night--was it night? Or day? "And you should care. What you gonna do? Walk right out the front door?" It was said with her only paying half attention, as she was trying to tell what was happening.
