It wasn't easy to see in the fading light the type of things she could feel in pitch darkness. Lana could feel what others felt, and she knew something was off about him. He worried about something, and wasn't at ease around her. Using her powers she shifted his feelings just slightly so they weren't so profound. She didn't add anything to him, or make him feel anything he wasn't--she just helped him feel slightly more at ease and less tense.
"True, but where would the caffeine come from?" She teased, smiling over it at him in a friendly manner, mostly just to relax him more. She had thought that he could read her mind but after sitting here for seconds she wondered if that was right. There was something about him that didn't seem to fit the mind reader type--and she'd met a few here and there. Maybe it was the way he hadn't taken her hand, or didn't seem to react to her other thoughts.
Watching him, she thought ht as handsome, and wait to see if he'd react to that. When he didn't she smiled to herself and looked back at the fire. Not a mind reader. "I like you're name, Luca. It's not a common more." At least not in this area. Lana liked names, and found most fit people. Luca wasn't a name you heard in the states often. "Where you from?"

Lana was bouncing around the island for a while, trying to check out everything that was happening here. She liked the island so far, but didn't want it to be all for show. Not that Magneto had been known for lying, but she needed to be sure. Lana had her hands in all sorts of pots right now. She needed a safe place to send mutants that wasn't building up warriors. So far, she was presently surprised about everything here! It seemed as if Magneto really was just tying to build a safe little world here for mutants.
Which was the other reason she was hanging out. Part of her wanted to be apart of this. For a while. Grass never grew under her feet. Lana knew that if she was around people too long their emotions changed. She could tell every time someone got annoyed with her, or angry. It was hard to not react to the fact that someone got annoyed every time you did something small. While most people could hide it--no one could hide it from her.
Walking up to the fire she was about to ask to sit when she heard him tell it was it fine. OH! Sweet! A mind reader! "Thanks!" She said with a grin, moving to bounce over and plop down near the fire. "I just came from the down under and everything is still so damn cold to me. And this place don't have a tea shop. I could go for some tea to warm up with right now." Lana looked him over. "I'm Lana." Reaching her small hand out, she greeted him.

Lana turned her head when Magneto walked in and then gave a friendly smile at seeing him. "Thanks, Mate," she greeted, and waited for the green haired girl to leave. Lana watched her before looking at Magneto with s amused grin. "Oh she likes you." Lana teased, using her thumb to gesture to the girl that just left. "Like loves you-likes you." She was really good at reading feelings by this point, and could tell it wasn't a romantic love but more of an admiration love. But love was love.
Magneto had welcomed her to the island, and she walked up to shake his hand before stepping back. "It's not like I thought, this place." Her fingers spun in a circle int he air as if to gesture to everything around her. She wasn't sure what she expected. Maybe something more oginizied, or city like. Training in fields, and everyone on high alert. "The mutants here like it here. I picked that up quickly. They feel safe here, at ease." Looking toward the window she nodded toward it. "It's greener too! Less metal then I'd guessed." She would get to the how are you's and things soon.

Lana stepped off the boat that took her here and began walking inland. She was here invited, so it wasn't surprising that she was expected. Following her escort in she began to see the workings on boxed homes, and maybe a farm. It wasn't what she expected. The emotions here weren't ones of anger--ok, not ALL of them were. There was a few. But there was no one training, no one yelling. It seemed peaceful here. A lot of the emotions around her were more curious about her then worried.
Damn he'd done this. She was led into a room by a green haired girl who introduced herself as Polaris. The girl waited there with her arms crossed. Magneto would be here soon. Lana used her powers to soften the turmoil in the girl, and make the silent wait more bearable.
Lana hadn't seen Magneto in years. Not since he'd gone off the grid. After that she'd not really came around too much because she wasn't sure what to expect from this place. Instead she mostly just sent people to the school and if needed to him. Now that Xavier had left she was trying to see what her options were. Lana didn't bounce around saving people, she more guided them to safe places. Got them in touch with people who could help them. She was here to decide if this place could be a place to send mutants in need.

Lana loved the 70s! She was currently embarrassing the hippie attire, even if she didn't fully embrace the life style. While she believed in free love for all, she wasn't into the rest. Drugs and her powers was a time bomb that no one wanted ticking. Still, her short curly hair, and the bell bottom jeans looked DAMN good on her! Sadly her lack of height made her look like a teenager still but she was rocking this!
On her way to meet up with some friends she heard the chanting. Pausing she took in the anti-mutant words and groaned. Turning toward the chants she began sealing her emotions. She had to fight them crowd's mentality. Her steps slowed and bit by bit she let herself get closer. Standing on the edge, Lana's eyes closed and she focused only on her emotions. Thankfully this was a small gathering with only about 15 people. Maybe more would come, but she was ending this now. Crowds were hard.
Lana just worked on breathing, making sure she knew how she felt without letting the crowd take control. Then she ganged to mood. Pulling out the good emotions, and easing in the confusion. Keeping the adrilliane low. They became peaceful slowly. The chants fading off. And then slowly they began collecting their signs and breaking away. Opening her eyes she grinned. Damn right she was awesome. It had taken some effort, and she felt sweat on her brow, but she'd just ended this bull shit for today.

Lana was a pretty good waitress for a girl who got nothing right. Yet her customers were always happy and always left her reat tips. This was one of the perks to being a freak, you got what you needed without much work. What she needed now was a ride out of town; as fun as it was to work here this wasn't meant to be more then a weekend stop before she moved on. Lana still wasn't sure her purpose in life but she wouldn't find it staying in one place. Tying on her apron she looked over her choices.
A mom with a passel of kids who were screaming? Lana passed by them and the kids settled down without her even waving her hand. Nope.
An old man in his 60s who looked a little to loney? She passed by him and he looked away 'deciding' not to talk. Nope.
She wanted someone young and by themselves. Someone with a good car and that she could get out of here with. Lana would ditch them in the next town, work a few days and then find a new ride. The pattern was easy, and she liked easy.
The door dinged and in walked a man by himself. Looking up toward the sky (that the roof blocked but that wasn't the point) she thanked whoever heard her request and then walked over to the table he sat at. It wasn't even her table but the other waitress was send off with out even a flick. When people didn't know what she was doing, it was easy. The challenge came with strong minded people. With people who knew what she was doing. With groups. It was why she liked them young and dumb. "Coffee?" She asked the man, waiting to see his emotions before she started playing around with them.

“When I first met Erik, I dove—rather deeply—into his mind,” That sounded frighteningly dangerous. Magneto wasn't a peaceful man, and to be in that chaos . . . . Lana had felt his emotions, had felt them for almost a year, so she could only imagine what his mind was like. She didn't want too. She didn't want to see it. She knew he was smart, but there had to be more, yeah?
“It was like looking at the sun. Blinding, painful, but you can’t help but want to look for as long as you can, even longer than that." She didn't understand. His mind? The mind of a man who wanted everything Xavier did not. “It is his mind, and it will always be his mind—even though I may never be allowed to see it again.”
She didn't want to make him explain something that was painful to him, but she wanted to understand. She'd never felt love for herself, only felt others love others. The idea that someone could not help who they loved was alien to her. "But you two want different things. He hates humans, and you want to protect them. And the other things you disagree with. How can his mind be so great, if you two fight so hard against each other?" She asked it hesitantly, not wanting to hurt him more then needed, but there was also curiosity there. She wanted to understand. She wanted to feel it, but she wanted to never feel it. It look like it hurt too much, and she didn't want to feel that.

Laughing she answered him, "Do you often hit on girls and worry if they are alone later?" She asked, enjoying that he didn't care. While she wasn't pro-violence but the idea of someone wanting her enough to not care was thrilling. "But I happen to have come here along." For work but she wasn't going into that, "And while I was planning to leave alone, I don't think that will be happening for me tonight."
And because she liked to talk bigger then she was (that was a size pun, not a commentary that she couldn't give out) she added, "Though I warn you, I might be smaller but I don't come quietly." Little did she know just how many meanings her little dirty pun had, and would have when it came to their future together.

Lana rolled her eyes before hopping down and walking toward, Jason. The name seemed too normal for him, but she was willing to ignore the normal name for the larger then normal man. She had expected him to have some non-English name that fit him. She wasn't going to complain about the name though.
When she got to the stool, she climbed up and plopped down. "Alright, you got me here." She teased, having decided to not risk it and have him climb into her lap. As much as she was willing to bet he was teasing, she wasn't willing to find out. He look like a bolder to her pebble, and she wasn't getting crushed under the weight. "Now what are you going to do with me?"

The tall rugged man spoke up, proving that he was the one that had paid for her drink. Lana smiled as he looked at her, and he let herself taken in the sexy cut of his face and bloody hell that scar that cut through his brow only made him more perfect. Biting her lip, she decided then to just skill the empowered role and be an easy catch tonight. Not too easy, but he wasn't going to jump through hoops. She was doing well, she could afford a distraction--and when it looked like that, then bring it on.
Her smile faulted when he just pushed the guy away, but with luck the other guy just walked off without any aid of her. "You're really gonna make a girl hop off th's 'ere stool, and then climb up another?" She said in a flirty tone, her hands gesturing over herself as she was trying to draw attention towards her good assets. He could come to her easier, so she waited for him to do so. While she wanted, she introduced herself, "Name's Lana."

Lana looked down at the drink before her before looking up at the barkeep. Once he explained she turned to look a few stools down. Her powers told her a lot about everyone, but in bars like this she normally put up a shield or mental block to keep from going mad. It was like being under water, she was aware of the emotions but they were muted and slow.
So when she got the drink the first thing she looked for was the normal tell tell signs that some dumb guy was either trying to drug her, or kill her. There was no strong levels of anticipation, just some smaller ones. A bit of lust. Some normal bar emotions of desperation, fear of being alone, and lust--there was a lot of lust here.
Which ones were coming from the drink buyer . . . and which one bought the drink? "Points for being forward, but it takes more then a drink to impress me." She said in a teasing tone, not a dismissive one. Like it was a playful challenge to step it up, or give it up now. Now the guy behind the short guy she was assuming had bought the drink--the massive sized tanned one that was rugged and . . . that was impressive.

Lana was loving life at the moment. She had managed to become a rather successful little darling of the blackmarket. If you needed something done, Lana was becoming known as someone who 'could get it for you'. Even now she was only having to do half the work, as she was building a web of connections. Need someone who could steal a 1000 LBS stature--she knew a guy. Need someone who could break into a steal vault--she knew a guy.
She wasn't were she wanted to be yet, but she was getting there. Soon she wouldn't have to do work beyond making sure everything went smoothly. Well, that was the goal anyway.
She was dressed to impressed as she entered the bar. It was a great place to meet clients. As she walked to the back, Lana held up a cardboard box. Her client walked forward, looked in the small box and then handed her a thick brown envelope. She didn't bother to count it, she could tell when someone was cheating her. Tucking the money 'somewhere safe' Lana turned and all but skipped to the bar before hopping up on a stool and ordering a drink.

The emotions coming from the girl lighted just slightly. Enough that Lana could tell that her head was no longer trapped inside whatever dark thoughts made the darker emotions surface--but she could still see them. Underlying everything. "There is an elevator," Yeah, she knew that. There had to be one since Charles couldn't walk up the steps, however Lana never looked for it.
"He never told you?" She never asked. "He uses it on account of his wheelchair." The lifts were metal, and she wasn't about to step in a metal box after her history. "I'm gonna have to take that up with him, clearly." She said lightly, more of a threatened tease, then upset. "Thought he was suppose to be ah gentleman. And look at em, makin' a girl walk up the steps."
Watching the girl for a moment, Lana tried to dig slightly. "Aren't kids normally loud bratty things who rather play out doors? Why you here in here?" Her tone was still light, joking rather then condemning.

Her small light feet were almost soundless as they ran across the hot, hard ground. Stay faster. Stay down. Keep out of sight--stay out of sight!
Well, bloody hell, today was going well! Lana looked behind her as she ran, and noticed the man gaining her on. She used her powers without looking to make his adrenaline drop, and to make others grow concerned around her. Sure enough, one man stepped forward and stopped him give her seconds to gain some ground!
Really! One little job gone wrong and the whole world turned against her. Granted this job had her stealing something from the man chasing her--and the 'thing' was now settled down in her purse. Still! It wasn't like it was his life! Using her headway to disappear, Lana darted through some woods, and came out the other side. The trees were thick but she couldn't see him anymore.
Pausing to catch her breath--really, a girl her size shouldn't be running, and NOT in these shoes!--Lana looked around. Alright. Now to blend in. First rule of blending was finding somewhere away from where with other people. She moved across the park and around some playgrounds before finally settling on some white girl sitting by a tree. Walking up to her, Lana sat right down, and curled her feet up. "Hey there, nice day." She said. Wasn't that was people talked about? The weather? "What ya doin'?" Her London accent came out more since she was out of breath.

So one thing I really love reading it everyone's little ticks and tricks with their muses or favorite comic/movie person. Basically everyone is able to fit somewhere on the board above. Tell us where you fit and why! (Or where you think others belong!)
LANA for example is CHAOTIC NEUTRAL: meaning she does whatever she wants, whenever she wants. She is all about her own freedom and self-interest, and are thus completely unreliable [case point of abandoning her 'friends' in the middle of a battle]. She wont pursue anything for good or evil reasons, but only because it suits her to do it. While she wont kill, and she sometimes has a hard time walking away from someone hurting--she wont go out of her way to save just anyone as her first priority is making sure she is alright first.
If you need help understanding what each one means, then PM me and I will reply back with my chart that I have!!

A hand on her arm stopped her, and Lana paused to turn and look down at it, while Wanda asked about the humans. The ones who were about to kill her. Lana wanted to bit out how it shouldn't matter, but mutants had to look out for one another. "They'll be fine if I don't leave them like this long. Which is why we need to get out of here."
Reaching over with her free hand, Lana wrapped her fingers slowly around Wanda's wrist. Then she very subtly gave her just enough of a push. A touch of fear, a small drop of adrenaline. Fight or flight. "We need to get out of here so I can let them go, and we will be a safe distance from everything. They will be more worried about us then the robber." Pulling her arm free, Lana let go of her wrist. "Now, are we leaving, or do you want to stay and take your chances with so many?" Either way, Lana was walking out the door, and bolting to get away.

"I didn't think you were American, luv." "We're all American's now," she countered, in a witty tone, rather then an annoyed one. America was supposed to be a land of freedom, where all races and genders could come together--but there was still much against them. For Lana she had the three strikes rule. She was a woman, she was black, and she was a mutant. At some point, one, both or all of them worked against her.
The emotions behind her hit her like a brick. She'd learned over the years to control her reactions to feeling the assault of fear, and anger. Inhaling slowly to keep control, she looked back at the bartender. Oh shite! Time to keep her head down. It wasn't her money, and it wasn't her fight. Seeing something red out of the corner of her eye, she looked back at Wanda and then bowed her head in annoyance. Why the bleeding hell did mutants always have ta be a hero? Not one, NOT ONE, so far had ever just let things go. No! They had to save the day, or they had to make it worse. Often times, the former lead to the later.
She noticed one of the men in the bar staring at Wanda, and his eyes wide. Well, there went a quite night at the bar. 'SHE'S A MUTANT!' Lana closed her eyes, and put up a shield. Xavier had taught her how. It was never strong enough but it would help her in moments like this. It was like being underwater--she still felt it, but it was a slow burred version of the emotions rather then pure and quick.
When she opened them again, the robber was clutching his gun and looking at Wanda--everyone was looking at her. The man who had outed her moved forward as if he planned to do something, the robber begin turning his gun toward her instead of the bartender. "Well, shite." Lana muttered, before holding up her hand, "Stop!" And used her powers.
Lana's powers were controlling the chemicals int he body that made you feel. And she used her powers to fill the room with a drop in adrenaline, and a massive spike in fear. The drop and spike was so strong that the few closest to her--the bartender, the robber, and the human who outed Wanda--passed out. The ones not near her, fell back to their chairs or on the floor and had blank looks on their faces. Jumping from the stool, Lana looked at Wanda. "This is where we leave." And she turned to walk toward the door, expecting Wanda to keep up.

He let go of her hand to cover his face, and run his hands over it. Lana pulled her hand back to rest on her knees, but didn't let the more painful emotions return. “No. “As wonderful as that sounds, Lana, I can’t just pick and choose my emotions. I’m afraid I’ll just have to find a way to deal with them.” Yeah, she could see that. He wasn't the type to abuse other's powers. She'd only known him a short while but she could see it. Lana had just wondered if he would.
“It would be an atrocity, a crime against poets everywhere!” "I'm not all educated, but that sounds like the definition of bad poetry." She piped back, and almost tried to make him do it. She could. She could start him off and tease him into finishing it. They'd laugh, and for tonight the pain would fade by it's self. However, Lana knew it would not help--only distract.
"Can I ask you something, school teacher?" She asked, her teasing tone from a moment ago lost to the more serious one; as she wanted to understand so she could help him more. How did he love a man like Magneto? She could see why some loved him, but Charles was a man of peace. She'd heard of him before. He wanted humans and mutants to colive together--which wasn't what the Brotherhood lived for. "Why him? I don't understand." Maybe it was because she'd never felt love of her own, but this didn't make sense.

"You don't settle for sweet?" Lana paused, watching the girl while trying to decide where this was going. Not many people in her experience just wanted to talk. They always wanted something. "Are you a dangerous girl? Or just like...hard things?" That was subtle. Was she hitting on her? Oh bloody hell. "Do I look like a girl who is dangerous?" Lana piped back, because she knew she didn't. She was short, tiny even. Her small frame made her look weak--and physically she was. However, mutantly she packed one hell of a punch.
That was thanks to her training. She had started off a girl on the streets using her powers to get by. Then she was picked up by another mutant, trained, and saw what more she could do. "Is he sweet? a friend of yours?" Hmmm. Lana shrugged, "Never met him before." However nor had she met the girl talking to her before either. "Look, kid, your not from around here--" Neither of them were, if their accents were to be hear, "--so let me give you a bit of advice. Americans don't like the questions." She wasn't saying it with a rude tone, more of one that said 'this is not how you blend in'.
Maybe the girl--Wanda--wanted to stand out, but Lana wanted to blend in. Mutants stood out. Mutants got caught. Lana wanted to be the fun flirty girl who got away, and got away quickly.
