It was a warm day and in a way Maria was grateful for that. Even if she had spent a couple years here in the northern part of the United States she was more accustom to the much warmer temperatures in the south. She could go back, sure, but she was rather content with her life here and had no intentions of moving at least for the time being. Despite the warmer temperatures she still wore long jeans that reached the top of her feet that had plain flip flops. She also wore a slightly loose short sleeved tan shirt. It had a few simple designs along the collar and ends of the sleeve but nothing more than that. She had a bright blue purse around her shoulder one hand gripping at the strap of it.
It was her day off and a common habit she had taken on such days was to simply enjoy the city or make the short trip to other larger cities. But on today she wanted to keep it simple, the simpler the better in her opinion. Her bright eyes scanned the sidewalk waving toward the few people she passed, though, they seemed to be in to much of a hurry chit chat which seemed a bit silly, but work she supposed wasn't something that would always wait. As Maria came closer to her detestation, the park, her eyes focused less on people and more on where she was walking. There was a bit more of a bounce to her walk as she stepped into the park it wasn't the largest one she had ever been in but more than adequate for what she wanted.
Her eyes looked over the several trees pleased that they seemed much as they were last time she was here. There was always something about plants that she felt connected to it was probably because of her so called special talent as she liked to call it. Something she seemed to rarely be able to use less anyone call her out on it. She had heard it a few times growing up and that was reason enough to not use and certainly not here where there seemed to be so many people.
Maria walked deeper into the park her eyes focused on a particular large tree sitting down beside the trunk of it. Her hand barely grazed the soft grass, that had clearly been taken well care of, moving it ever so slightly if anyone looked they would assume it was a simple breeze moving the small blades. After a couple minutes she pulled her bag onto her lap and pulled out a book she had placed inside. Reading was something she enjoyed and being able to read in what nature she could find was even better.

Her small light feet were almost soundless as they ran across the hot, hard ground. Stay faster. Stay down. Keep out of sight--stay out of sight!
Well, bloody hell, today was going well! Lana looked behind her as she ran, and noticed the man gaining her on. She used her powers without looking to make his adrenaline drop, and to make others grow concerned around her. Sure enough, one man stepped forward and stopped him give her seconds to gain some ground!
Really! One little job gone wrong and the whole world turned against her. Granted this job had her stealing something from the man chasing her--and the 'thing' was now settled down in her purse. Still! It wasn't like it was his life! Using her headway to disappear, Lana darted through some woods, and came out the other side. The trees were thick but she couldn't see him anymore.
Pausing to catch her breath--really, a girl her size shouldn't be running, and NOT in these shoes!--Lana looked around. Alright. Now to blend in. First rule of blending was finding somewhere away from where with other people. She moved across the park and around some playgrounds before finally settling on some white girl sitting by a tree. Walking up to her, Lana sat right down, and curled her feet up. "Hey there, nice day." She said. Wasn't that was people talked about? The weather? "What ya doin'?" Her London accent came out more since she was out of breath.

Maria's attention was less on those who were in the park and more on the book she was currently reading. It was easy to become distracted and even absorbed with the text. Rather it was actually learning something or just reading about a far away world, places she could only imagine. This particular book she had in her hands happen to be the latter and much more easy to lose herself in than the former. So the moment someone sat down beside her she jumped slightly. She blinked her eyes before placing a slender finger on the page she had been reading as to not lose her place and turned to look at who had sat beside her. The woman in questioned began small talk almost as quickly as she had sat down. She could pick up a hint of some accent she couldn't place right away. She had been to a few places in her life, all within the United States, but that didn't by any means she could identify every accent she came across.
Upon the first words that escaped the woman's lips Maria smiled nodding her head ever so slightly. "It really is a wonderful day." It was a nice temperature outside and there was plenty of sunshine something she absolutely adored. Though, there was a chance she supposed as with everyday that it may turn cloudy or even rain. But then again being summertime that were less of a chance that may occur and if the weatherman was correct today would remain cloudless. She was rather hopeful that would remain true for the rest of the day.
"I was simply reading." She raised her book slightly as she spoke before letting it fall to her lap a few pages falling over her fingers that held her place. Now that she was actually paying attention to the woman who so suddenly joined her she noticed she seemed to be slightly out of breath perhaps she had been on a walk or something. Which really in a park wasn't to much of a surprise. "Seems like you may have been excising? It is a nice day for a walk or a jog." She commented simply hoping she was not being rude to make an assumption.
