What the bleeding hell?
Everything trembled and shook, and Lana took a step back, flipping the photo around to look at the face. Who the hell was this? When she looked back at him he was moving. Sure she could have used her powers to calm him but he might kill her for that given his current mood. "Erik! Control! You need to remember con--" He was gone. "Right then."
Looking back she noticed he left his helmet. "Out in the real world without your condom." Looking at the photo, Lana moved toward the helmet. "Whoever you are, he is more pissed then he was at me. But at them or you?" Lifting the helmet, Lana put it on. "Oh the hell do you see out of this thing?"

Working with Erik was odd, to say the least. Yet after her own capture, she had come to see his point about sticking together; that didn't mean however that she was going to war with him--but nor would she let other mutants linger in a prison, when she had the skills to help. Lana's skills were in gather information. She could sweet talk it out of anyone.
She was a grifter, and a con artist. "There are eight." She said walking in the room, cutting past the pleasant talks of how they were and other things they really didn't care about. Opening the folder she tossed down some papers, "And most of the place is metal! Good news for you." Because he was a metal head, "Has maybe 40 guards. They only bring low level mutants there. Now one they fear." Like him.
"They took photos of them and out them in a log. I got the password and printed them real quick." So while his men got ready she could give him the low down. "John Davis," She held up a photo, and just as quickly tossed it down, "Amria Rashid" She held up a photo and tossed it down, "Anya Michael." Another photo. "Isabelle Erikson" Another photo, but before she tossed it down she froze and looked up, her skills telling her what her mind didn't understand.
What the shite was that?!

"Look at me! It's so tiny, how can I get in your way?" She said while following him toward the exit. She watched him remove his helmet and almost let him walk out the door--but instead jumped for them and closed them back so they were both kept inside. "Ok, maybe I am gonna get in your way here for just a minute."
"You can't just walk out there! We don't know anything about the future!" Letting the doors go, she tried to feel his emotions better while she talked so she would know if he had any doubts about this. "Either you've won your mutant vs human war, and everyone is living under your control--or you've lost." Or there was no war, and everyone was just walking around. "If you've lost, walking out there with no plan! . . . maybe we should stick together until we know for sure."

It was a few seconds after he let the knife fall that Lana could pull in her self enough to stop making others feel her own fear. Turning to send him a wide and frightened glare, she let him finish talking. "This is how your gonna school me? Scare living shite out of me until I get it right?"
How was that going to help her grow? How was that going to show her anything but how useless her skills were when she lost control. Hugging her arms toward herself, she stared at him. Trying to see how this would help. "I can't stop the fear. The fear is what breaks my control." She wanted to please him--as any student who valued a teacher would--but he was asking more then she knew how to give.

She could hear the steady steps of someone closer, but Lana didn't look up until she heard the sounds of fighting. When she did . . . he was there. Standing in the middle of her box, wearing a stark white lab pants, and tank top, she watched as he began to cut her from the glass.
He'd come for her? Why? She'd had left him here--even knowing he'd have come for her, she would have left him here. What did she realize? He wanted to rub it in before she even could step from the glass. Her tone was hurt, and like steal. "That I was utterly alone. That no one cared I was here." Lana would not give him the pleasure of anything more. He wanted to hear her regret what he saw as a betrayal. She reached for his hand, but paused an inch from it, then continued to reach for it.

It took her a second to see what he was sending toward her head. At first it was a flash of light, reflected in the sun. She felt herb body tense and flinch back before her mind could even form the word knife. Everything froze and hung before her powers reacted to the fear of her life.
As she exhaled so did the fear, spreading out from her in an burst of panic and fear for her life--making everyone for a quarter mile feel the same. "You said you'd not hurt me!" Had he lied? She fought to make her powers stop sending out the fear but she wasn't quite able to pull it in. "Please! I trusted you!" Her eyes never left them knife to see how her power effected him.

He pulled off his helmet revealing how much he subconsciously trusted her. She could own him right now. Make him comatose in her void, and unable to use his powers. It was a testament to her respect to the man he was that she did not.
That and the surprise of his emotions. Closing her eyes and looking away, Lana tried to ignore what she felt from him, his words and how easily he walked away. "When I do, I can only hope it won't be one under your control." She returned, not sure if he was even close enough to hear her.
Even a week after their meeting, she was still out of sorts from it. From the indifference she felt from him. Hate would have been better. Another few days later she felt that hate, not from him but from the same safe house. Lana managed to help a few others escape, but Manicore- a new and uprising corporation- took her and many others. At firsts she fought desperately, but even with her powers they remained strong, even icing her a shot that kept her sleeping sometimes to prevent her from using them.
She was going to die. Alone. With no one to come for her.

It was noon? Her gaze shot up to the sky, and then down to him (which was still up to her). "I don't sleep in." She said surprised, "I never sleep that long." But the bed, and in a locked room by herself, and feeling safe for once had put her into a deeper sleep then she'd had since she'd left home.
"Nah, I got this. I will eat and change afterwards. Take a long bath in that pool you guys are telling me is a tub." A joke but it was a very large tub. "Not had had one of them in nine years." She'd had showers but never a good soak. Lana rolled her shoulders, and shook her head to clear it. "I'm ready."

"I . . . don't even know what that words means." She said with a shake of her head as if it didn't matter either way. Let him bring out his big words, she knew what she was and knew what she wasn't. He called her a disgrace and she only shrugged, "Says you, but you don't speak for the mutant race, Erik. You want lead, then let me give you some advice . . . don't become what you hate so much."
"You can hate me for what I did to you, but to call me names like some child on a playground because you disagree with what I feel it is in my right as a person and a mutant to want and do . . . makes you only slightly better then the leaders who tried to win the last war you fought in." The World War, "So call me names. Call me weak. Do whatever makes you feel better."
"Meanwhile I am going to do what I know how to do; and what I feel I can do best for me and our kind." Reaching up she wiped at her eye, before it could spill over. She wasn't going to cry before him so she was grateful to see it was mostly dry. "I've said all I can say. You can leave now." She was dismissing him, just because she knew it would piss him off. Besides, this might not be where she lived but it was more her's then his.

"What could I have done, Erik?! You through cars at people! Every one of them had talents that lead them to be useful, and strong. Should I have put fear into them? Because fear is why they hate us already. I can't make them run away, they could have turned more aggressive and killed you or all of us that night if I pushed too hard."
She wasn't sure why he assumed she could take over an army. She didn't have the power to make anyone do anything, just play with their emotions. When she was close to someone, and could read their face, and say pretty words then yeah, she could get them to play her tune--but an army of so many? She couldn't do that! The best--or worst--that she could do would be to whip them into an enraged frenzy and watched as they used their fear as an excuse to kill more of them. "I can't kill someone, because I feel them die. I don't want that life. I don't want anything to do with it! I hated leaving my friends, but they were following you, and not caring if they died to honor the cause--or you."
"I cared! I still care! I don't want to live in a place where I am constantly blocking out the fear from everyone, or the hate. I don't want to fight. I thought I could. I thought I could do it, for you. You saved me, and I tried. But that night, when we were losing I knew this was it. We were not stronger then them, and we never will be. I can't forever live in that mental hell for me, when I wasn't even sure I believed we were doing the right thing."
"So yes," She told him, feeling confidant in her answer, "My conscience is clear. Just because you disapprove, don't mean it's not."

Lana had managed to muddle through supper and enjoy what she could of her night. Though when everyone went to bed she stayed on the couch and waited. Not even sure what she waited for but apart of her just assumed that if she did then she couldn't wake up somewhere else. Eventually she did go to her room, and sit on her bed.
Which is where she woke up with a startle of some woman talking in her head. "Ah!" Being she didn't have any other clothes, she just pulled off her over sized sweater and wore the jeans and tank top for now, though she did bring her sweater for when she got cold. Which was almost instantly. "Outside?" She muttered in a half awake voice while walking up to Erik, and repulling on the sweater to stay warm even though she had slept in it. "You're like one of them annoying morning bloke aren't ya?" Lana didn't even know it was not morning any longer.

"The only thing I could have done was end up just like them!" She snapped back, but not in anger, in a mixture of sadness for her friends and tiredness from going in this circle. "I can't fight! I feel EVERYTHING, Erik. I get overwhelmed and it weakens me. You know that! All the emotions and sweet talk in the world would not have saved them."
"I hate that they died, but they were strong then I could ever be. They had talents that let them be of use in a fight, where as mine are good for what I do with them. You claim you let everyone make their own choices but you damning me for mine. You think I have to fit into your idea of who I should be . . . but I never that girl. If I pretended for a while, it was to fit in. I wont regret making a choice that kept me alive."

Stare at the white woman. Don't stare at the red man with a pointy tail. Don't look! Stay in the safe zone. Don't stare at the tail! Oh shite! She was staring!
That was the conversation happening in her head the whole time she was meet and greeting with the others. Lana had never seen someone who was a none-skin toned person--with a tail! He looked like the devil--and his name matched. Lana wondered if these were normal names for mutants or if they were shaking off their other names to embrace the other.
Erik lead her up to a room and opened the door. Lana walked in but froze after a few steps. Her room? "Yeah, it's alright." She said with a shell shocked tone. Then she took off running toward the bed, and climbed up on it to stand and jump a few times. REALLY? Bouncing down to her but, she rebounded to the floor and looked around. When her gaze found Erik's again, her expression was troubled. "Hey, I'm not gonna wake up in the back of some car and find this a dream am I?" Or worse, finding out they were planning her as their next meal. She didn't get that vibe from them but still, this was too good.
"Things like this, don't happen to girls like me."

Erik was click off his points, one by one and Lana was already forming her reply. She knew exactly what she would say and even formed some dramatic ways to express them--but it was some of his words that caused her heat to drain from her body, and for her to step a stumbling step backwards in shock. Wait. Dead?
"They're dead?" She asked, ignoring everything else. "Wh-when? How?" Apart of her knew because of his later words, but she needed to hear it. Hear the reminder of why it was best not to get involved. They died because they fought, and the 'humans' came for them. She felt sad that people she once called friends were gone, and she had not even known.
A part of her also braced for Erik to tell her it was her fought for leaving them. Let him, she knew better. They had been there longer then her, were stronger then her, and if she had not left then she'd be among the dead. He'd just given her proof.

Lana smiled slowly at his words, and nodded her head before turning to walk back up the steps and letting him lead her inside. The inside was just as impressive and massive as the outside, and for a girl who was already small the house only looked larger and as if it would really hold a city's worth of souls.
Walking into the open area she turned a few circled while looking up at the massive open space. Suddenly she stopped and moved closer to him. Just a few quick steps, while looking off into the house. "I can feel em." The others. Lana paused for a moment and began sorting out the emotions and the strength of them. "Four of them. Maybe five?" Looking up at him she waited to see if she was correct. For some reason she had expected there to be more.

"Your right, you took me in and showed me a world I never even dreamed of, but then told me that if I wished to keep it then I had to fight for it. Kill for it. Kill or be killed, prepare for battle." She had hated the fight training, hated the fighting. "I feel everything Erik. DO you know what I battle is to me? When I can't not feel everything everyone is feeling there? Not everyone has a magic condom hat that protects them from others."
"You've made so many foes, and are so afraid of what they might do to you that you can't even walk around without armor on." His helmet. "I don't want that life. Had I tried harder to help you I'd be deeper in your world, or in that same prison with you; and I wasn't going to give up my tomorrow in order to live in one that I can't stand."
"And just to be clear; Yes you took me in. You gave me clothes, and food and hope. Most of what I am now is because of your influence." Her tone wasn't angry but it was firm. She didn't get angry, but she was close enough. "But you never loved me . . . and I never loved you. Tomorrow isn't something you can just hand someone. I earn it every day, and help others find their own way."
"I'm not the victim here . . . but neither are you."

She landed on her back, legs flalling around in the air as she rolled to her knees and looked around. Bloody hell it worked. Erik snapped at her, something about doing something here; but she couldn't quite make herself hear him. Her gaze looking around trying to connect the dots with where she was. As Lana reached her feet, her knees buckled and she stumbled but pushed right back up and looked over at him.
What had he asked. Yes! Right! Doing here. What was she. "Stuff." She answered in a shaken voice. Then shook her head. "I uh, I wanted to go too. Needed to see if you were right all along. I wanted to know for sure." Half truth, half lie. Looking around she tried to take note of anything familiar. "You know where we are?"

Welcome to her tomorrow? Was her for real? The sight of the house alone made her wonder if he even knew how words worked! He had made it seem like he had this place somewhere out of the city--this was a bloody castle! And he was bringing her here to live! Sitting in the passenger seat with her lips opened, staring at the massive building that was far too big for one man alone; she jumped slightly when his hand moved near her.
When had he opened it? Taking his hand she let him help her out, but didn't let it go for another few seconds as she looked way up up up, to the top. Turning her head toward him she spoke, "You own a city?!" Because surely that would be what fit in there! Letting him go she bounded up the steps toward the door, but then paused and turned back to him. Walking slowly back to him, Lana looked up at his face. "What if I don't fit in . . . ya know, with this world and these people?" What if he offered her everything, but then took it away.

He said nothing and instead turned to walk out, leaving Lana to shot a wink at the others before following him out. Once a suitable amount of space was between them and the house she moved to face him, and just stared at him for a minute. Gathering her thoughts or her courage--she wasn't sure which. "I left you to rot in prison." There. She said it! Put it out between them.
"I was young, and I was frightened, and I realized I wasn't willing to die for or for a cause that I could only see getting more people killed--of either side." It was harsh, and she knew she was waving the red flag at the bull but it needed to be said so he could build a bloody bridge and get over it---or kill her and move on. Which she was wondering if she wasn't just asking for the later. "I was never a solider, Erik. Expecting me to act as one, was short sighted of you. Blame me all you want. I left you there, yeah. I didn't even look back."
"You want an apology? Fine, I'm sorry I betrayed you. Would I do it again? Yes, but was it an easy thing to do? Not really." She held out her hands in a shrug before dropping them to her side. "You asked me once, what I wanted from life. Tomorrow, Erik. It's almost been to live to see tomorrow. You might see it as selfish but I wont fight in some war. I can't be the girl I started off being. Not for you. Not for any man."

He missed to miss her flirty comment but Lana dind't care. She was too excited to just be here for now. Looking out her window, she saw he was hovering the car but not high! Still! It was impressive because if he could lift a car then bloody hell! Who knew what else he could do! Laughing excitedly she kept looking until the wheels touched the ground again.
It was his next question that made her look over at him, her eyes bright with the thrill of finding someone who so quickly made her feel like she belonged. Lana could not wait to get to this place and meet the others, and build friendships, and maybe even learn to double her skill. "Tomorrow." She answered, not thinking too much about it. She knew all too well that everyone died, and while she wasn't afraid of death, she wasn't going to help it along. She wanted to see each day. Live them. It didn't matter how.
