"Perhaps." She could tell by his tone he did not mean any kind of insult by his words. And she in a way would agree with that it was not very common for women, in particular, to wander alone at night. "But I am quite certain I could take care of myself if I ran into any problems." She may not use her powers often but she knew well enough how to use them should the need arise. This nightly training was not something completely out there for her it was something she did every few weeks. But that wasn't something she exactly let be known to others perhaps not even this man. She didn't usually intrigue people or at least tried not to do so. But she supposed any who were mutants may be intrigued. She had met other mutants to be sure it did amaze how diverse such talents could be so, perhaps, it shouldn't have been such a surprise this man was indeed intrigued by her. A small smile appeared on his lips at his next words. She hadn't really done anything to her full potential in a while and she knew that could always be improved on, but considering the risk of exposure she could never really use anything more than she had displayed a few minutes ago. "I tend to be subtle when I use my talent." She paused for a moment considering the rest of what he had said. "I don't think anyone could ever truly get to their full potential. There is always something that could be improved upon."
Maria gave the man a puzzled look at this statement. Did he honestly show his talent to people where they could see it? With how humans reacted it did not seem to be the wisest thing to do. She did well to hide her abilities for the most part so hadn't had to face to much negative of humans, but she had dealt and heard of enough to be weary of such display. "I was by no means trying to show my talent to the world." If she were to do such a thing she could imagine how much her life would change certainly considering the fact she worked with humans, or at least she assumed most were humans one could never know for sure, and lived around them as well. "Do to do so could cause issues, wouldn't you agree?" Surely this man knew what she was talking about without her having to explain that any further.

Maria gave the woman a curious look at her reply as well as her cheeks were a bit red from blushing. She didn't want to pry if she didn't wish to explain any further, though, she could make a pretty good guess as to why exactly she was curious about what she had known about the Professor. Even if it had been several years since she last saw him. "If you say so." She kept her tone friendly and open. If she wished to ask more would attempt to answer them, but it had been years since she had been to the school she imagined a lot could change in that time.
She nodded her head as Ashni summarized their previous agreements. "Yes, that's correct." She glanced around the greenhouse for a moment before looking back at the Ashni. "And if you ever want to change what kind of flowers you can do that too. It won't cost you anything extra to do that." If she wanted variety as she seemed to speak of it wouldn't be out there to assume she may also want to change the flowers ever so often. Maria would just need to know when she would want to change if she wanted to change them to be prepared for that. "We'll have to do that in the main building." She gestured toward the exit of the greenhouse as she spoke. "It shouldn't take to long." Paperwork could be quite dull but something needed especially with orders this large.

Maria's form tense a bit more as the man seemed to disregard her suggestion completely. She bit on her lip as she thought about what else she could do to convince this man he was in the wrong even though that was a lie. "I'm not quite so sure they are, sir." She knew it was probably pointless to insisting he saw nothing but if she didn't try she would felt as if she should have later. Though, this entire situation would probably bother her later. She had done well over the years to only have a few know what she could do, but each time someone found out she always felt rather anxious and this certainly was no exception. Perhaps it was foolish of her to keep trying to practice when she should be trying to blend in with humans. Yet, even if she wanted to try to hide it she knew a part of her would always long to feel her power, to be able to manipulate nearly any plant she came into contact with. Her job certainly didn't help with that part that wanted her to be able to use her talent freely.
"And why should I believe you?" Fear was a good word to use it was something she certainly felt. It wasn't fear from this man exactly but what could happen. Of what could happen to her life if anyone else was to find out about her abilities. The small life she had become somewhat content with could easily disappear. Humans simply didn't accept mutants that much she understood even if she hadn't dealt with to much of the hate personally she had seen enough of it. She gave the man a curious look with his next words it seemed to her he was telling her he was a mutant as well. Before she could utter a single word in question if her assumption was true or not he revealed his own power to her. Her expression changed to slight awe as his glassed moved into the air before he placed them in his pocket.
It was only after this display did Maria's tense form relax slightly. She was still uncertain but she didn't fear as much as she had before. She still wouldn't be to open about her own abilities she would admit what she could do but they were still in a park where anyone could come by. The last thing she wanted was for someone to catch on to what she could do even if it was by accident. Now that she wasn't so tense and anxious about exposure she noticed he did seem to speak calmly perhaps hoping to ease her own troubles about him finding her out even if it was by accident. She was quite for a few moments before answering the man. "Maria."
She considered the man since she did feel a bit more comfortable she did have a question in return for the man. "Why did you decide to approach me?" She felt that was a fair question she may or may not get an answer. She hadn't exactly been very forthcoming herself about anything. So she would certainly understand if he chose not to answer her. "It is a bit odd to approach someone in the middle of the night. Don't you think?" She was curious about him and as to why he here in the first place. She had lived in this town for several years now and she didn't not recognize his face. Though, this city was fairly large it would be probably impossible to know everyone. He could have lived here or he could be simply passing through. She wasn't curious enough about that to really question him, but did want to know why he decided to even talk to her.

Maria smiled nodding her head at Ashni's words. "Yes, I do know now. I hadn't even realized it had reopened. So thank you for that." Though, it hadn't really been her highest priority to pay that much attention. She hadn't even realized how much time has passed since she was last there. Funny how time could sometimes go by so quickly you didn't even realize it.
"Know the Professor well?" She repeated in slight confusion at the slight change in subject. But then again perhaps it wasn't to much of change they were talking about the school and the Professor was the reason for the school even existing, really. Then again surely Ashni would know him far better than she since she was currently living at the school. "No, not really." She shook her head slightly as she spoke looking over at the woman. "I haven't spoken to him since I left the school. Even if I had known him well that wouldn't be true now. To many years have passed." She imagined she knew him as well as most students did at the time she attended.
She watched as Ashni began to stroke one of the petals of a flower. She remained quite for a couple moments not certain if she should press her curiosity, but figured why not? The worst that could happen would be her not answering. "Why do you ask?" She doubted anything she knew of the Professor would be anything new to Ashni unless he had changed in someway.

"Well." Maria paused for a moment as she considered the question. Did she have full control of her powers? She liked to think she did even if she didn't practice often. Despite where she worked it was still around humans and she couldn't really use her powers here of all places. It certainly wouldn't be the wisest choice. And while she felt she had full control of her powers, to an extent, it was not mastered not by far. But it was something that could constantly improve she imagined it was true for any mutant no matter the power. They could always learn more control, learn more about their power. Or at least that is what she believed. "I can control my power for the most part." She felt confident with that statement if she didn't she certainly wouldn't be working here for quite obvious reasons. "But it is something that can always be improved upon."
As for who would be delivering the flowers, well, not that she knew exactly where they were going it would probably be best if she did deliver them personally. There were other employees to be sure but to go to a school for mutants she would much rather volunteer than anyone else go. "It would probably be best if I was the one to deliver the flowers, yes." Although that in itself didn't exactly mean she would stay long. Did she really want to attend the school again? It wasn't something she had exactly considered before and for the moment was fairly content with how things were. It was a bit tempting, to be honest, here she was so limited with what she could really do. Whereas with the school she was surrounded by others like her who were uniquely gifted. She wouldn't have to hide what she could as much as she did here. "It is something to consider that is for certain." She didn't want to say yes or not quite yet but she would consider it.

She listen without interrupting as Ashni explained how she learned control herself. She knew there could be a lot of hesitance to having someone teach you, as well as revealing your power in front of others. That was something she had experienced when she first learned about others. And still felt that way to an extent certainly since she didn't speak to many anymore. "You were lucky to have someone to teach you." She didn't have any reason to ask who there was a good chance she wouldn't know who that person was.
"It had to close a couple years after I started attending." She answered simply her eyes trailing off the flowers once more with a small smile. She hadn't been aware it had reopened, but in truth it hadn't been to much of a surprise. It had been a great school for their kind and she imagined it still was certainly if Professor Xavier was s till running it. "But you can do much more than just with plants. You have a very unique talent." Her eyes trailed back to the woman. That was one thing she had enjoyed about the school there they didn't have to hide so much and it always amazed her how different everyone's ability was. And how many more that were still out there that she could only imagine.
Maria shook her head slightly. "No, I wouldn't be able to keep the flowers alive. With my power at least." She looked back to the flowers letting her hand run over them manipulating them slightly. "If I'm too far away the plant will revert back to it's original shape." At first she had only a few feet that she could reach out too but with training she had been able to expand that slightly. "If they are to dehydrate or diseased I can do very little with them." It was something she could often sense without even having to look at plants it made her quite good at the job she currently had. One reason she chose it she in a way could still use her talent, as she preferred to call it, even if it was only slightly and unknown to most everyone around her.

Oh, wow I love your understanding of Charles! It's really neat to see how people interpet characters and have great understandings of them c: The examples were really good too!
This seemed harder than I thought it would be to pick a certain category for a character. I think for the moment I'm torn between Lawful Good and Lawful Neutral. I don't see her as someone who would want to willingly break rules/laws and would probably be a bit hesitant. But at the same time she may if given a certain situation. I guess I'm still kinda trying to figure her out ab it? Of course, this could change over time since people do change it's all together possible. I don't see her being to selfish so I doubt she'd fit the evil/chaotic category very much. I think with just starting out she'd be more Lawful Good than anything and overtime may become some sort of neutral category or something completely different -- who knows! I guess I'll just figure that out as I figure out more of her story.

It's fine! I'm just glad I have internet! If I'm curious enough I can always look things up a summary or something not as good as watching it, of course, but it does well enough c: And that sucks I hate it when companies of any kind does that. It's really unfair I hope it doesn't happen to often to you!

The moment the words reached Maria's ears she quickly stood up spinning around to face the man who spoke. She kept one hand behind her back slowly willing the flowers back to their original shape hoping to not cause anymore attention to herself, but she had a feeling it was a wasted attempt. She eyed the man curiously there was enough light from the lampposts to give her a good idea of what he looked like. However, what caught her off guard was his sunglasses it was in the middle of the night, after all, who in their right mind would want to wear sunglasses? Unless one was blind perhaps the only thing that prevented that assumption was he had seen what she could do. That completely wiped that theory out of the way.
She consider her options she could simply turn and leave but the man could very well follow intent on proving what he had seen true. She didn't know if he was human or mutant and she wasn't sure she wanted to know. The less she interacted with this man who had seen what she could do the better. She resisted sighing before attempting to reply perhaps she could make him leave her alone on his own. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about." She'd rather act clueless, even ignorant if she could, for the moment. She always wanted to hide what she was, what she could do. It was safer. She had seen to much negativity to many people that wouldn't accept. Besides this was a public park while she was certain no one else may be out here at this hour she would rather be safe, practical. Even if someone else who she didn't know came by she did work and live here they could come across her again. Depending on what this man said it could expose what she could do in some way. No matter how friendly seeming this man in front of her seemed she would not risk exposing herself. Besides, what was he doing out in this hour? A question better not asking it could easily be turned on here and she wasn't sure she could answer it.
As she overlooked him once more she titled her head slightly crossing her arms in front of her. "Besides how could you possibly see anything?" She remarked her eyes focusing on the darken glasses he wore. "It's in the middle of the night and you are wearing sunglasses." Unless he had some kind of super eye sight it was possible he couldn't see things clearly. "They are clearly messing with your vision." It may have been a bit of a weak attempt but it was better than nothing or walking away. In either case he could have followed or make it more obvious what she had been doing. One of the main reasons she stayed and it could have bothered her, even worry her, that this man knew something about her she didn't want anyone to really know. Or at the very least not comfortable with him knowing. There were exceptions to this, of course, those she had met in the school years ago certainly and not many outside of that.

Maria remained quiet as Ashni explained more about her power. She had met others with powers, to be sure, but it was always amazed her how different everyone was. Each talent seemed to vary drastically when put together with other mutants. While there could be similarities they were often very minimum and that was always something that had fascinated her. As the woman continued explain just what she could do changing the outcome of something it reminded her just how powerful some powers could be. "I can only imagine how difficult that must have been when you were younger." Often control was hard when one was young she knew that well as she imagined most did.
"Did you teach yourself control or did the Professor help with that mostly?" She questioned a bit curious. Many did not have a teacher of some sort to help with skills such as theirs and to be able to have one made a huge difference. She knew it had personally helped her greatly as well. As as Ashni mentioned stres she could understand how stress could cause issues. Depending on the talent could depend on how much in control of emotions they also needed to be. "Thank you for choosing butterflies over a light." At least the woman was considerate enough of that it would save her a few dollars too if she had to replace it.
She smiled slightly at the question it was a fair enough to share in turn what she could do. And for the moment it was just the two of them in here certainly safe enough to not be exposed. As far as she was aware those that worked here with her were not mutants it wasn't exactly a subject one talked about at least not usually in a positive light. It was best to keep quiet and keep control of one's own talent. "I was young a child really when I first discovered what I could do. My mother was the only one who knew for a long time she made me keep it a secret. I didn't even know about others until I heard about it on the news." It had been a surprise to her certainly and it seemed not long after that she met one other who had a talent as well and introduced her to the school.
"As for what I can do..." She trailed off for a moment walking down the roll of various flowers allowing her hand to hover over them. As her hand came close to the plants she focused on allowing them to grow ever so slightly and the moment she walked away she let them go back to their original shape. "I can control any kind of plant. I can change their shape, their size, make them do what I want if they are close enough. Trees are very difficult there is little I can do with them but just about anything else." She came to a stop spinning around to face Ashni once again the small smile still on her lips.

Ah, there really are just so many wonderful characters! I love all the ones you mention too! Each character just has such interesting talents and stories I suppose that's another reason I just enjoy xmen so much c:
I looked at the wikipedia page and according to that there is four seasons. That's a lot more than I thought there would be! My internet is to slow to load videos so I doubt I could watch them on Hulu or even youtube if they were on there. But perhaps someday I'll get the chance!

Television had become quite popular, and certainly remained that way, when she was a child. It seemed to be more uncommon for one to not have than the other way around certainly compared to what Ashni explained about her own life. Maria would watch tv, sure, but it wasn't something she wanted to spend a lot of time one she often preferred the outdoors than anything. "It sounds like quite a different way to grow up. But at least now you are able to explore some the world yourself." That had to be an amazing experience in itself. She imagined one could learn so much more about a different country if one actually visited as opposed to just hearing, rather through tv or radio, or reading about it.
"When I was younger it was about the same as you. It wasn't as publicly known as it is now." Though, one key difference was she didn't know of any others until she was out of high school. The same may be the same for this woman but the way she said it made her think she knew some when she was younger than she was now. She wasn't very sure herself if mutants being known publicly was really a good thing or not. There seemed to still be so much hate an negativity toward them. Her eyes focused on the woman's hand as he glowed quite amazed with it her eyes drifted the butterflies that came out. She titled her head considering what she just saw. "What is you are doing exactly?" She saw her bring out the butterflies clearly doing something but what that something was she wasn't sure.
Maria supposed her story wasn't all that different from the woman's as she explained it. Well at least with meeting the man who ran the school the only difference being she met someone who had attended the school, and had attempted to help her learn her power before introducing her to the school. Nor were mutants known as well as they were now quite a different world even if it was only a few years ago. "Yes." She spoke with a slight nod of her head. "You could say we have a similar story."

I use to watch this show all the time with my brother when it was on tv! I remember it being a show I absolutely love but oddly can't remember that much about it? I know Nightcrawler was my favorite and that show is probably why he is still my favorite xmen character.
I would lovee to rewatch it sometime especially to see the scene you described that sounds great cx And to see how cheesy it was I imagine it'll be quite a different experience watching it now as opposed to when I was a child.

Maria didn't know much about Pakistan personally but did know it was quite a distances away from here. She imagined if she had moved from her own country it'd be quite difficult to adjust properly. Though, being born there didn't necessarily mean she grew up there she decided to keep that question to herself she wouldn't want to pry to much it could be considered a bit rude. Certainly with someone she didn't even know. "Of course, if you would follow me." She made her way to the back holding open the door the door for Ashni before making her way to one of the greenhouses. She asked one of the employees inside to handle the front for a little while. There was a good chance another customer may come in and she didn't want to leave it empty.
She smiled a bit more as a question she had wondered about the woman was answered. "Do you like America so far?" She questioned glancing back at Ashni briefly. Two years wasn't really all that long she imagined it would take a bit to adjust as well. It was a simple question too one she could answer with a single word or give more detail as she wished to give. "No." She shook her head at the question about the school glancing back at her. "I use to attend it several years ago." It had probably been close to a decade, though, she was unaware if the woman knew it had disbanded once or not.
Maria nodded her head. "Sure! They are more toward the back. The front area is more local plants." Maria picked up her pace ever so slightly as she walked toward the back glancing a couple times to make sure Ashni was following. She began pointing toward a few plants telling their name and where they could be found most of the time. "There is a couple more in the other greenhouse but these are mostly what we have. Do you see any to your liking?"

"We have a bit more of a selection out back." Maria gestured toward a door located in the back while moving to walk toward the woman again. She'd wait and see if the woman would like to look before she escorted her there. "We don't have to many exotic plants but you are more than welcome to look." She could understand how it may be difficult to pick out the perfect plant for a specific person, but the thought in the end is what mattered hopefully. It depended on how old these students were and how appreciated of they were of such gestures. "We can perhaps attempt to find any specific plants you are interested in." Though, that may take time sometimes exotic plants weren't the easiest of plants to keep around. Different locations meant different climates, temperatures, rainfall there was always a lot to consider.
She smiled at the introduction easily taking her hand. "Ashni is an interesting name." She commented hoping that hadn't been very rude. She hadn't strayed to far from where she now lived and it always interested her to meet others from all sorts of other places. Some even all the way across the world in countries she may never actually visit. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Maria Coleman." As she let her hand drop to her side she raised an eyebrow curiously upon hearing just where this woman had worked. It was a familiar name one she had been a student of many years before it had disbanded. She suppose it should be no surprise that it was back and running it was actually very nice to know it was. She did wonder when this had occurred, though, she decided to chose her words very carefully she didn't want to make any assumptions just yet. "I've heard of that school before." She decided to leave it at that for the time being.

Maria kept the friendly smile on her lips as she listen carefully to the size the woman was talking about. She placed one finger on her chin tapping it slightly as she thought about how much would be needed for this, well, she wasn't sure perhaps some sort of dormitory if it was for students. A living quarters most likely a private institution or some kind of college. Though, she was aware that making assumptions wasn't the best idea it was something she often did anyways. "It is thoughtful of you do this for the students." She commented realizing she was probably being a bit to quiet as she figured the order in her head. "We can do as you requested if that is the amount you want. Do you want all the same flowers or a mixture?" She questioned her eyes focused on the woman for a few moments until she turned away.
Maria made her way back to the counter moving sheets of paper until she found what she was looking for attaching the paper to a clipboard. She wasn't quite sure if this woman was going to place the order right away or not but she didn't want her to wait if she decided too. She pulled out a calculator from the door as well knowing this would certainly be needed for the rather large order. Once the woman began speaking again Maria's eyes snapped back over to her nodding her head at her question. "Of course! Simply traveling expenses nothing more than that I assure you."

The crisp night air played lightly with Maria's hair as she walked down the rather deserted street. It had become something of a ritual, a habit in a way for her to stay out late ever so often at last once a month. If she was lucky sh may try every couple of weeks, though, there were times she could go two or three months between these little exercises. She normally made it in the middle of the week on Wednesday where they would be the least amount of people out and about for this outing of hers. On these nights she was more aware of those around her, though, it wasn't out of fear it was simply to make sure no one would notice her. It was probably a bit odd for a lady to be out so late but she didn't much care. This routine often reminded her of when she was much younger, a teenager, sneaking out for this very reason.
She was well aware the negativity those with 'special talents,' as she liked to call it, or powers, abilities, there were many different terms she had heard. Even names she had heard, though, some she would not like to repeat or even think about they could be rather... cruel in a way. Mutant. That was the official term they were called. She did a good job at keeping her special talent a secret from everyone. There were a few who knew about it but the mast majority of those were mutants as well so she felt it wasn't quite so bad. Some she kept in contact with, but overall she had in a way distances herself from most. Not quite on purpose but simply events that had occurred people move, places close up, so many things that could occur in one's life for people to become distant, unfamiliar, and even changed.
A smile easily came onto her lips as she approached the entrance to the park. It was dimly lit there were a few lights spaced out in an almost random order but there was more than enough places that didn't appear to have any light out. The moon wasn't very full either preventing much light to grace the ground below it. For the first few minutes she entered she followed the worn out trail her eyes glancing around curious if anyone else was about. As with most nights there didn't appear to be anyone, but she liked to be certain. Her arms moved back and forth slightly as she walked with a slightly excited bounce to her steps. She was dressed rather simply a plain blouse and jeans.
Once she felt comfortable and rather certain no one was around she began to walk off the trail, though, still slightly worried that there could be someone here she didn't do anything right away. Slowly she walked toward a large tree her hand lightly grazing the trunk feeling it's tough bark. Trees were not something she could move easily and only a very little. Perhaps if she actually practiced with trees she could improve that aspect slightly. She could feel the deep roots directly under her feet the tree felt healthy, hydrated. It was something she could often tell with plants if she focused, after all, if they weren't hydrated or ill in some way she couldn't move them as she could a healthy one. Her hand dropped her her side as she walked past the tree her eyes focusing on the smaller plants: flowers, vines, grass. Those that she could easily manipulate to her will, well, if she was close enough she could. She did have a limit to how far she could reach out to plants.
She bent down slightly her eyes bright as she focused on a few flowers that were planted evenly spaced clearly made to look this way. She allowed her hand to graze the petals of one particular flower the petals were soft, colorful, and most importantly healthy. She moved her hand very smoothly allowing the flower she was focused on the grow, become larger. She knew there was a limit to how large these smaller plants could become but often she pushed that limit. It was an interesting control and, of course, if she wanted she could control many plants at once. A smile graced her lips as she stood up bringing her other hand out in front of her as she concentrated on the group of flowers, as well as a couple weeds and blades of grass, allowing them to grow together. This was something she missed, something she felt deprived of, and something she always had to hide. Even if she worked with plants nearly everyday she couldn't do this freely. She always had to make it look like a slight breeze had moved the plants rather it was fully bloomed flowers or small blades of grass. She could rarely do anything beyond that even if she had learned years ago just what she was fully capable of. There were, of course, exceptions times when she had no choice but to use her talent but she did try to avoid those as much as possible. She was often torn between wanting a normal, human life and a life were she could do this freely as she was now.

Maria's attention was less on those who were in the park and more on the book she was currently reading. It was easy to become distracted and even absorbed with the text. Rather it was actually learning something or just reading about a far away world, places she could only imagine. This particular book she had in her hands happen to be the latter and much more easy to lose herself in than the former. So the moment someone sat down beside her she jumped slightly. She blinked her eyes before placing a slender finger on the page she had been reading as to not lose her place and turned to look at who had sat beside her. The woman in questioned began small talk almost as quickly as she had sat down. She could pick up a hint of some accent she couldn't place right away. She had been to a few places in her life, all within the United States, but that didn't by any means she could identify every accent she came across.
Upon the first words that escaped the woman's lips Maria smiled nodding her head ever so slightly. "It really is a wonderful day." It was a nice temperature outside and there was plenty of sunshine something she absolutely adored. Though, there was a chance she supposed as with everyday that it may turn cloudy or even rain. But then again being summertime that were less of a chance that may occur and if the weatherman was correct today would remain cloudless. She was rather hopeful that would remain true for the rest of the day.
"I was simply reading." She raised her book slightly as she spoke before letting it fall to her lap a few pages falling over her fingers that held her place. Now that she was actually paying attention to the woman who so suddenly joined her she noticed she seemed to be slightly out of breath perhaps she had been on a walk or something. Which really in a park wasn't to much of a surprise. "Seems like you may have been excising? It is a nice day for a walk or a jog." She commented simply hoping she was not being rude to make an assumption.
