He asked her things, and Magda wasn't sure how to answer them. She wanted to say she would be able to be strong, but kill someone? When he asked about her children being in danger, Magda looked over at him and wondered what she'd do then. She wanted to say she would be strong, that she'd kill any who harmed her children. Apart of her even believed she would, but could she? What chance did she stand fighting trained men? She stood no chance. Her best chance was to teach Peter not to come back for her. To take his sister and run. As far, and fast as she could.
"I would try to protect my children," If she saw someone about to hurt them, "With my life if need be." That much she knew. But if someone came back from the future and said 'this man will kill your son' could she kill him? Magda prayed she never learned the answer.
"As far as I know, the future has been altered. Whether it has secured the existence for mutants, I am unsure. But we know that the Sentinels will no longer pose as a threat for the time being." But he didn't know for sure. There could be a time clock above their heads now, counting down until someone built a weapon that could kill them. "So we could die with in the year?" Which was an unsettling thought.

She spoke of how she would try to protect her children, with her life. "And yet, it may not be your life that would need to be sacrificed." It could be someone else's. In this case, it had been Mystique's. Not a single part of him enjoyed the thought of having to kill her. Had he not been so guarded with his emotions, he would have expressed this more when faced with her and the opportunity to kill her. "It is often easy to say that one is willing to die for those they love. Yet people do not understand that sometimes it is necessary to sacrifice others to save the ones they love." It was easy to say that you would die for someone . . . but more difficult to decide that someone else needed to die for that same person. She asked if they could die within the year, and Magneto could not guarantee her otherwise. "Nothing is for certain." They could not know for sure when they would die.
All that had been brought to Magneto's attention was that in the future, decades and decades into the future, their kind had been on the brink of extinction. "But that is why I fight for mutants. To ensure that we do not die. To ensure that our numbers do not dwindle because of humans' intolerance of us." Their conversation had fortunately taken a full circle. Perhaps now she could better understand his views, even if she did not accept them. "Whether you had asked me to or not, had I known Peter was in danger, I would have gone after him," he told her. "Because no mutant deserves to die." Even Mystique had not deserved to die. She had just been a necessary sacrifice. "And I fight in this war to prevent that from happening." Because whether others expected it or not, there was a war. And it would only be a matter of time before mutants were rounded up like cattle . . . just as he and Magda, and millions of other people had been during the second world war.

It might not be her life? She could die for her children, but could she kill? Murder? Magda wasn't sure she could. She knew she'd do anything, but until it was in that moment, she knew it was only an dark thought. "I do not know if I am that strong." Emotionally, physically. Just thinking about this made her feel weak and helpless. Is this what he thought of each night? What he fought each day? "Nothing is for certain." Closing her eyes, Magda tried to imagine how hard it must be to take that weight upon himself.
"But that is why I fight for mutants. To ensure that we do not die. To ensure that our numbers do not dwindle because of humans' intolerance of us." Like in the camps. Magda was beginning to see everything from his point of view. How he was using his hard learned lessons to fight the future he saw coming toward them. When warned that it would happen again, Erik had moved to stop it. He wasn't the killer she had thought him to be. "Whether you had asked me to or not, had I known Peter was in danger, I would have gone after him," Yes, she could see that now. Opening her eyes once more, Magda turned to look up at him while he drove, knowing their time of honestly was quickly coming to an end.
"Because no mutant deserves to die." Like his mother had, like her parents had. His father. Their families. Magda did not feel anything with these thoughts besides fear for her children. "And I fight in this war to prevent that from happening." Again. The unspoken word hung there between them. She wasn't even sure if he meant for it too, but it was there. "If you are right, then running would be pointless for me and my children." She said softly, not in a 'I doubt your words' way, but in a slightly confused and lost manner.
"I don't want that future." One where everyone dies. If it was dire enough to send someone back, then surely it was dire indeed. She feared it. "I do regret though, that you must do it alone." Because she could not stay and watch her children grow under an army's command, and in fear of humans. Yet at the same time, she didn't know where was safe any longer. "And that they'd paint you a villain for it." When he was trying to save them.
Reaching over she touched his arm, the one that was extended toward the wheel, before giving it a soft squeeze. After a moment, she slowly let him go.

She spoke of how she was unsure if she was that strong. Magneto knew that if one was put in the proper circumstance, they were capable of anything. "Strength is a subjective term," he began to tell her. "Some may define it as physically overpowering another." A very literal definition of strength. "Some may define it as being able to make difficult decisions." Which was what they were talking about now. "And others may define it as the ability to approach a man they think to be extremely dangerous, and ask him to save their son, aware that it could unravel years of effort in concealing a well guarded secret." He said the words without an ounce of bitterness, hurt, or anger. He was making a point right now, that strength could be interpreted in many different ways. "It shows that when you were placed in a particular situation, you made a decision that you would otherwise never have made." Coming to him. But he knew she had been desperate. And that was what he was attempting to show; that in the right situation, people would do things that they never otherwise would have done. Quite simply put, desperate times called for desperate measures.
She then went on to speak of the possibility of him being right, and how it would be pointless for her and her children to run. "It has not done you any good thus far, Magda," he began to tell her, not saying it as a criticism. Unlike before, he was currently not judging her for her decisions, but trying to explain his view of thinking. She had tried to hide the truth but someone she had trusted -- a human -- had betrayed her. Her son had been found and captured. And if -- though it was most likely -- her daughter was also a mutant, then it would only be a matter of time before she was discovered. "Besides, we should not have to run and hide." They deserved to live, free of fear. They had a right to. But it seemed that these rights were only reserved for humans: for what they deemed as 'normal'. She then went on to say that she regretted he did it alone, and that they made him a villain for it. "Fortunately, I am not alone," he told her. "Those in the Brotherhood fight with me. They believe in the same cause and they fight for mutant's freedom." He would not dismiss them. After his public appeal to them, many had joined the cause and for that, he was grateful. It showed that they were not afraid to stand up for justice and their rights.
"It is easy for them to use me as a scapegoat. For anyone who stands up for what they believe in, anyone who is not submissive and will not conform to society's ideals that are set by a handful of men, are targeted." After all, how many had been assassinated and killed for their beliefs and refusal to conform? "They now are able to use me as justification for hunting down mutants. If it were not me, it would have been another. A face that they can show the public." Because it was easier for them to do so. Even though they had started the hunt for mutants before Erik had made himself a public figure in this war. "But the hunt for our kind started before I made myself known as a threat to their campaign against mutants." Their desire to kill them. Their desire to scare them. After all, that was why the President had made such a public display with the Sentinels: he wanted to show the world that he could scare mutants and kill them if need be. He felt her hand touch his arm, giving him a comforting squeeze. It was evident that her anger and disapproval was slowly starting to ebb.
Even if she did not accept his views, at least she understood them. The gesture caused a small smile to form on his lips. "Do not feel sympathy for me," he told her in a calm voice. It was not demanding or sharp. "For unlike the previous war we were in, I feel capable of taking an active role in this one." World War II. A war where they had been held prisoners, tortured, witnessing families -- including their own -- dying around them. Never again would he let that happen. No longer would he allow himself to be submissive and simply accept the threat imposed around them. He would fight against it. Retaliate against those and strike back when they raised the first hand.

"Strength is a subjective term," Magda didn't think so. It seemed to be a word meant for ones who could do so much more then she could. "And others may define it as the ability to approach a man they think to be extremely dangerous, and ask him to save their son, aware that it could unravel years of effort in concealing a well guarded secret." Their son. He'd called Peter their son. "How would you define it?" She asked, wondering if he was trying to tell her she could be strong, or if he already thought her so.
Yet he was also speaking to her other words, "It has not done you any good thus far, Magda," No, running had not done her any good. Hiding was failing them, and Peter seemed less willing to limit his powers. "Besides, we should not have to run and hide." That sounded like a dream world. One where hate and fear did not exist. She wished such a world was their own. Her son would be safe. She could be safe. Erik . . .
"But the hunt for our kind started before I made myself known as a threat to their campaign against mutants." Magda had not known of it before, but she could see how it would have happened. Silently with no one crying in outrage. Just like last time. No one screamed unfair until the body count got too high. No one cared until they feared they were next.
"Do not feel sympathy for me," "That is not what this is." "For unlike the previous war we were in, I feel capable of taking an active role in this one." The last one. "We were children last time, Erik, there was nothing we could have done." Though he had saved her, and she'd never forgotten it. And they were no longer children, but had children of their own to protect.
At times she still felt like a child, unsure of what to do and lost in a world she knew so little about. Erik had almost smiled when she touched him, and these were the times she felt younger, lighter, and less worried about the world--because Erik was there. "But we are no longer children." He was very much a man now, and nor was he weak.

She questioned how he defined strength. To him, it encompassed a great deal. "Accepting ones mutation," he told her. His words firstly revealed that his idea of strength was limited only to the mutant race. Secondly, it showed what he believed mutants should be doing, yet the reason they did not was precisely what was wrong with society. Because they instilled fear in mutants. They made it sound like something was wrong with them; that they were freaks of nature. But if mutants accepting their powers, and embraced them, then they could have an unlimited amount of strength. Yet not all of them did. And it was truly a shame to see that.
She then spoke of how they had been children. He did not accept that as an excuse for himself. While he mostly blamed the men in control of the camps, as well as Shaw, for the horrors that befell them all, he also knew that he should have done more. He would have had the power to do far more. If only he had sooner embraced his powers instead of trying to deny them. Had he been prepared prior to entering that camp . . . things could have gone very differently. But as Magda said, they were not children anymore. "Which is why that mentality of being helpless and unable to do anything is no longer justified." He was not helpless. He was not incapable. He had the power to do something to benefit mutants and he would acknowledge that and act upon it.

"Accepting ones mutation," So not her. Because Magda had hid it from the world, and the same of their son. However, it seemed Peter had been accepting of it too, being he had refused to stop using his powers. So perhaps just her then. He answer also surprised her some, because he could have said standing up to humans or fighting them off. He could have said anything beyond what he had. Yet his answer was simple, yet very telling. Acceptance.
They seemed to still be talking about strength, even when moving on from the word. "Which is why that mentality of being helpless and unable to do anything is no longer justified." Was he talking about himself, or her? "I doubt there is anyone who would use either word to describe you." Even the ones who hated or feared him.
It did however, bring her attention to her own self. She wasn't very bold or brave and knew nothing about helping Peter. She never wanted him caught again. Yet she could not be by his side every moment of everyday. Which left her only one choice. "Nor are they words I wish to reflect my children. Will you help him? To make sure he can better protect himself next time?"

She spoke of how neither word would be used to describe him. That much was true. There was a never ending list of other words that society used to target him, as well as those used to glorify him. But he did not do this for the glory or any sort of immature adrenaline rush. He did this for the betterment of mutants. He was not one who wanted to rule the world and have everyone bow at his feet. She then went on to ask if he would help Peter; help train him and use his powers to fight off imposing threats that came upon him. Magneto paused for a moment, taking in her words. Perhaps if they had not had this conversation, then she never would have asked him to do this. He could imagine it was not easy for her to do so.
"I will," he told her. After all, he did wish the help the boy . . . not out of the sudden obligation he had as his father, but because Peter was a fellow mutant. And of course, he had once helped him. "But it would also be most beneficial if you too fully embraced your powers and honed them." If she could control technology, and she accepted and embraced her mutation, then she could have stopped the cars, even in the face of extreme fear and terror. "If the two of you together are able to perfect your powers, then you will be stronger against a common threat and enemy." Humans mainly. Magneto believed in individual mutant strength, as well as strength in numbers. And right now, he was trying to convince her to train her own powers for Peter was not the only mutant.

His words surprised her, and Magda looked up at his face with slightly widened eyes. "Me?" She should learn to use her powers to fight and defend herself? She smiled softly, but it was more to hide her self doubt. Magda could make the lights blink, and tell the power to not work. She could even boil the tea from bed so it was ready when she got up. But to do more with it? It was almost an imposable thought.
"If you think it's best, of course." She agreed, "I not sure what good I would be in a fight. Other then to make it dark." She'd never thought of her powers beyond basic things. Then, another thing accord to her. Erik was offering to teach her, and to spend time with her. "You would teach me?" Making sure of this seemed important, because while apart of her wanted as far away from the war as she could get--the other part wanted him with her.
What would he expect of her? Expect her to do? "I have only ever used my powers domestically. I can't even begin to try to think of how I would use them to ward of someone." Yet if he was the teacher, she would be willingly be his student.

She seemed surprised by his suggestion, and then went on to say that she was unsure whether she would be helpful in a fight. Did she truly believe that her powers were limited to make lights blink? Her ability to control technology was incredible. Rather complimentary of his own. But of course he did not expect her to fight for the Brotherhood. He merely was offering his help to train her and Peter to better defend themselves should there be a next time. "I would," he confirmed, knowing he would have to work on separating his emotions. Yet, it had always been a difficult task to do that with her. That night had proved it. She provided a welcome distraction from his thoughts when she went on to say that she had only ever used her powers within the household. "You possess a remarkable gift," he began to say, wanting to give examples of scenarios where she would not be as useless as she felt. He wanted her to realize that she had the ability to fight against humans when circumstances called for it. She merely needed to embrace her potential, rather than minimize her use of powers.
"The ability to control technology encompasses a great deal," he began to explain. "If there are those threatening you and there was a vehicle near by, you could use the radio within it to create an explosion." That was just one of the many examples. "You can use video surveillance to spot a threat well before they make their presence known by standing in front of you. You can control aircrafts, vehicles, so many modes of transportation, computers, electrical wiring within a building, televisions, radios, and so much more. You could control weapons, even nuclear ones should you desire to." He was merely giving her examples of how strong her power could be, of how she could use so many different things to defend herself if she did not wish to use them to strike an attack. "The possibilities are endless," he finished saying, his mind already going over all the possible things she could do with her powers.

He spoke of all he could teach her to do, and Magda felt overwhelmed. He could so easy imagine all that she could do, yet she who had the powers had only ever used them to turn the lights off and boil some water. An explosion? She could do that? Apart of her wanted to try it, but not so close to getting her daughter and getting back to her son. How odd to think of her powers as a weapon. And knowing she could protect her family if she learned . . . it made her want too.
"If you could teach me even half of that, I would be grateful." She said softly, still trying to take it in. They were almost to the house, and Magda knew their time was so short. "It's the one at the end of this road," She told him, before looking back at him. "Thank you. For everything you've done and are offing to do. I know it can't be easy." Even if he didn't show it, she knew this had to be affecting him some. To train his son but not claim him.
"You're a good man, Erik." And she meant that. He had his moments when she could see it so perfectly. "Please don't think that I why I kept Peter from you. I was honestly afraid of the men you were fighting. Never of you or your powers." She felt the need to make that known, as their talk would be light while her daughter was in the car. "Please believe that." Because his words before had said he thought she did it because she hated him.

He planned to teach her all he could in the time she decided to stay with them. Even if she did not plan to fight for the cause the Brotherhood stood for, he could at least equip her with the proper knowledge to fight off any threats that she may encounter in her life. And considering how it was for their kind, he was fairly certain she would indeed encounter more. She pointed out that the house was the last on this road. As he drove toward it, she thanked him and went on to speak about her reason for not telling him about Peter. He knew he had to believe her if she told him that the reason she withheld the truth was because of the men he was fighting, rather than him. She had believed him to be an extremely dangerous mutant . . . but he would dwell on the reasons.
He had never lied to her, and he had to believe she would grant him the same courtesy now. "It was a decision you made and were entitled to. Regardless of the reasons." She was his mother and had made a conscious choice. As he pulled in front of the house, he put the car in park and turned to look at her. "I will stay true to my words. Peter will not know of my relation to him." He was not going to say anything, and he would force himself to separate any emotions during training. He wasn't sure what it was to be a father and didn't know if it was something he should explore. She had not wanted him to expose the truth, so he would go along with her wish. "I will wait here while you get your daughter," he stated as he looked back out the window.

Magda gave a soft nod to him, when he said he would not not tell Peter. "I will not tell him either, but I wish you would think on one thing. Should something happen to me, where would he go?" As she did not expect an answer, Magda got out of the car and walked toward the door. She knocked on it, and when the door opened she could tell that they weren't as pleased to see her as normal. Walking inside, she shut the door behind her.
From their, everything begin going to hell.
At first they were asking she leave Scarlet with them. Magda refused, but then became more instant. It was shortly after this that Josh made his presence known. Magda called up the steps for her daughter to get ready because they were leaving, but he pressed, demanding she leave his daughter away from her son and his sort of trouble. Magda became angry, they both begin talking over one another, which turned to yelling, which turned to anger. When he called her son a freak, she lost her temper; Magda pushed at him, and he pushed back, pushing her into the wall behind her. Her powers--which were not fully trained--made the lights blink, and Josh called her the freak, and refused to let Scarlet come down the steps. Magda pushed pasted him to get her daughter but he grabbed her arm and pulled her back, causing her to fall back and hit her head.
Magda felt the world spin, and Scarlet cry out. Even John took a step back as if he had not meant too. Scarlet knelt beside her, crying and touching her. Erik. She needed to get Erik. He'd make sure Scarlet didn't get left behind. However the door was getting dark. Then Josh demanded Scarlet get away from her, and Magda saw him begin reaching toward her daughter, and Scarlet lift her hands up and out toward him--but the rest was lost to darkness.
