Erik asked her a short but hard to answer question. How did it happen? "I don't know, Erik, how does it ever happen?" Her tone wasn't dismissive but carried the weight of his question. When she spoke again it was more stable, but still troubled. "I was lonely." It was the truth. She had been a single mother of a son who was learning to go off with friends rather then be at home, and she had not been comfortable in her own company. It left too much time to think.
"He was nice, and . . . it wasn't the first time I let down my guard, but shortly after I found out I was pregnant." There had been other men besides Josh, but not so very many she could not count them on one hand. Still, none had lasted long and even less left a mark in her memory stronger then an ounce of what Erik could do to her in a few seconds. "He said he wanted to be a family, and I thought . . . why not. It wasn't love, but at the time Peter liked him, and I would need a father for my children."
"He would get angry when I would not talk about my past. He seemed to understand I was hiding something, but he wanted my trust. I couldn't give it. Putting that with my necklace, and Peter's father that I never spoke of. He grew more angry."
Magda took a deep breath, still not looking at him. "When Peter begin moving fast, and trying to hide it, I knew what was coming. Josh noticed too before I could stop it, and he was displeased. In the end, rather then risking my family I left. Told it I rather do this alone . . . and I have ever since." Since Erik had sent her away she had been doing this alone. "He comes to visit Scarlet sometimes, but Peter and Josh tend to bicker a lot and I can't let my guard down again. I can't make mistakes again. So he avoids us."
"Now he wont have a choice. There is no going back from the other day." The men taking Peter.

Magneto listened quietly as she explained the history between her and Josh. He did not say anything, for he did not want to sound as if he was making judgments on her choices. Which, he was to a degree. Mainly when it came to her decision to be with a human. For this was what happened with them. He had been with her under the assumption that she was human, but he had also parted from her for that very reason. Humans could not be trusted. They did not understand mutants which is why they were so intent on destroying them. He was aware that Magda did not judge others based on race, but this was why she should. It was also why Magneto would never be with another who was not a mutant. Only their kind could be trusted. Especially when it came to intimacy. Though the difference between him and her, was that he was not lonely enough to settle down with someone. His family were his brothers and sisters of the Brotherhood. And whatever happened among that, happened. But with no emotional ties. He could not afford for that to happen again. And yet, ironically, he had been with her last night.
Returning his focus to her story, he continued to listen and take in all the information she was offering him. "Humans can seldom be trusted," he stated, not with judgment, but this was not exactly a new point of view from Magneto. It was what he frequently preached to others. "If trusted at all," he added, not bothering to hide his contempt for them. "You should not settle for one because you think that your children need a father." He was not as traditional as Magda in that sense. He had been, when he was a child, believing that every family should have one. But ever since Ania . . . he knew that the man he had become, was not one who could be a father in the traditional sense. "So long as they have a supportive figure in their lives. Willing to accept them and allow them to embrace their powers." He was mainly speaking of Peter. For it was his powers that had been a source of debate and tension among her and the homo sapien.

"Humans can seldom be trusted," Magda sighed in an almost silent way at his words, knowing they disagreed. Some people could not be trusted, while others could be. It was a fact she believed in, even he he did not. "You should not settle for one because you think that your children need a father." That turned her head to glare at him, and she sat up even more in her seat. Was he passing judgment on her? How dare he!
"Do not judge me!" She bit out, "You out of everyone do not get to judge me, Erik! You--" who would have walked away from his own child, and not given them that support he just spoke so highly of! Yet she could not hit him with those words, for it felt too low of a blow to serve him with. She was grateful he would not know where that was going.
"I love my daughter. I would die for her just as quickly as I would for my son. It matters not of she is human or mutant or something yet unknown--she is my blood and I will give up everything to give her what she needs! It is my life and my choice! You can speak of what children need you but know nothing, Erik!" Her voice became less angry and held more of the heartbreak she felt when she thought of him. "Children need love and support, but they also need a mother to show them kindness, and a father to show them strength! I can't give them that!"
"A father protects their children! He makes sure no harm comes to them! I lost my father, Erik and I have never felt safe since! I know what a father is--especially to a daughter! I can't give them that! I can't . . . i . . . " She was going to cry. Shifting in her seat again she moved to look forward rather then at him, but she felt unsettled so she did not sit still long; and she never looked back at him. "You will not claim your son, then you do not get a say in who I let into his life." Not that she wanted Erik to claim him and draw him into this war, but she wanted him to want too! Or to at least . . . . . . something! "Human or mutant."

She was angry. That much was fairly evident. He remained silent, not interrupting her words, not expressing his intrigue in her unfinished sentence. He who what? He did not question it. Instead, he attentively listened to her words while driving forward. He remained calm. Not angry. Not about to lash out at her. Though he knew his words were not going to so easily diffuse whatever tension now filled the car due to their controversial discussion of opposing views. "You speak of a father to show him strength, among other things I presume," he began to say. "Yet you were with a man, a human, who instead, created conflict and tension because your son is a mutant. An occurrence that would not have existed had the man been a mutant." Of this, Magneto was confident. Because mutants did not fear what another mutant could do; they feared how they used their powers.
"Now you state that I will not claim him." Something that she had been adamant about and now, it seemed that she was holding it against him. He of course could be misinterpreting her current tone, but he did not fail to remember her words of last night and the contradiction they caused to arise with her previous actions of coming to him in disguise. "Which is something you wanted when you came to me in disguise, admitting you never would have told me that he was my son." However, he had forced it out of her. "But alas, as you say, a son needs a father to show him strength. Just not a human who will fear his gifts, nor a mutant who you believe will lead him astray, is that it?" He questioned rhetorically, piecing together what he could of their conversations now and previously. For he knew he was now drawing on their discussions before they had successfully distracted themselves for the rest of the night.

They were growing closer to her home, and while the site should make her unsteady she only could hear his words. Magda stayed silent, refusing to acknowledge him other then to point to a driveway to show him which to pull into.
Turning in the seat once they were stopped she looked at him, and finally spoke. "Look at me, Erik." Her tone wasn't angry, but there was a false calm to it. She was angry, but hiding it. "I hid who I was because I watched a man I thought I once knew drag a woman toward him that he clearly planned to kill. I watched him take the other mutant and bind him in mental over a fountain. I later would watched him drop a stadium around the white house. Fill another man with metal, and send him flying off in the air to die. I watched him do horrible things, and while I knew he was the only one to who would save my son--because he both owed him a debt, and would use the force of his powers to do so."
"And I was afraid. Of that man. Of the man I thought was power hungry, and had lost himself to the hate." Which apart of her still believed he had. "I am not afraid of you." Just wanted no part of his hate.
"But nor will I sit here and let you judge me for my choices. You sent me away. Are still sending me away. You do not get to judge me for the men I place myself with, or the men I look at for a father. Human or mutant. Whatever men I trust my children too, or invite to me bed . . . you made the choice to not be that man a long time ago. With Ania. When you wanted nothing to do with us, and wanted to send me to my people. You choose not to be that role. So stop giving me the speeches of your hate on humans. Stop judging me. Just . . . stop."
With that she opened her door, and walked quickly to her house.

She spoke her mind and then quickly ran out of the car. And he made no attempt to follow her. Instead, he remained silent. Not because he was reflecting over her words. Not because she said something that resonated with him and suddenly made him see clarity. It was because she assumed. She assumed practically everything about him. She did not seem to even consider that what he had been doing that day, to Mystique, to the President and his army of goons, was for the betterment of the world for mutants. No. There clearly could be no logical alternative to his actions. Charles had done the same thing. He had just believed the story humans had put out there: that he assassinated JFK. When in actuality, there was a deeper more complex reason for his presence.
She assumed that he solely did this out of hate. Yet she failed to understand the danger that mutants were in. Which was a shame, for her son had just been the victim of such danger and threat and she was still assuming that all Magneto did, was solely stemmed out of hatred. If frustrated him beyond belief that people were so blind to the truth and so close minded that they would believe everything that humans depicted it to be. So Magneto remained in place. He was not going to justify his actions to a woman who did not even bother to question his reasoning. If she did ask, perhaps he would offer an explanation. But until then, he would continue to let her believe he was the man she assumed he was. He did not join her inside, nor did he plan to say anything more. He just quietly waited for her to return with her belongings so that they could pick up her daughter and he could return to his work. Work that she clearly did not understand nor have any desire to.

Magda walked into the house and shut the door behind her, so that she might have a moment alone. Time to get a hold of her running emotions. Erik had been right when he reminded her that she should not want him to claim Peter--but she was also coming to realize that she did want that. She wanted the only tie she had to him to be strong enough that he wanted it, even if he didn't want her to stay.
Yet she also was coming to see that he was going to let them go--again. He had never wanted to be a father, not with Ania, and nor now with Peter. She would have to let him, let her go. No matter how hard it was. She had to be stronger then this.
A short time later when she walked out, Magda held some backs in her hands. Piling them in the trunk, and a few in the back; Magda then climbed into the passenger seat. Her first words were calm, and honest. "I don't want to spend the next few days fighting with you." Which was true. It would be their last few days, she wanted good memories to go away with. "Can we not try to be friends? For old times sake?"

When Magda returned, she spoke of how she did not want to fight, and if they could just be friends. He too did not exactly enjoying arguing with her. Though that seemed to be a rather unfortunate frequency whenever they interacted. Except for in the beginning. When they had been reunited. He remained silent for a few moments, deciding against speaking about how she should have asked him why he did what he had instead of jumping to conclusions that were untrue and that she now held against him. "Withhold your judgments," he told her. Though he knew that he had to offer something in return.
"And I will do the same." For it seemed that had been what sparked the argument. Perhaps it was best that they not take turns criticizing one another's choices. It was equally upsetting to them both and he hoped with that, would come no more arguments and fights. "Where must we go next?" He asked, inquiring about the address of her ex lover so that they could pick up her daughter. So much had changed since the last time they were together. She had settled into a home and raised two children where as his life was the one that was transient as he fought for mutant's rights. He had to admit that he would have never foreseen either lifestyle in their future.

Magda felt a bit surprised when he told her to with hold her judgments. Had she been judging him? She supposed that she had without meaning too. Yet what what she supposed to think? She had seen him to horrible things, and the woman on the telly had looked afraid. The man that he left hanging, had broken free and looked defeated. Then later, he had had looked very dark. "My daughter." She told him, then gave him the address so he'd know where to drive too.
After a moment's silence, Magda looked back at him. Her words were almost hesitant, but clear. "I suppose it is easy to judge when you do not know everything." It was what she had done, assumed he had let the darkness in. "You were a good man when I knew you. I will try to keep that in mind foremost." A peace offering, she hoped, one that would make sure they did not stay so at odds with each other. "I let the imagines on the telly shape more of my opinion then of the memories that I gained first hand." She hoped he'd take that and apply it to his own judgements toward her.

When she gave the address, he immediately started heading toward there, letting the silence linger before she broke it. She spoke of how he had been a good man, and that she will try to remember that. "What does it matter Magda whether I am good by your standards or not? If you need to think on the past to remind yourself on my goodness, then you are continuing to make judgments about me. Ones based on false evidence." She then spoke of how she had allowed her opinions to be formed from what she saw, rather than what she knew.
"I may not be the exact man you remember, but do not make assumptions about me." He paused for a moment, unsure why he felt the need to explain this to her. It shouldn't matter. He should not have to feel like he needed to justify himself. "You have not yet asked me why I was imprisoned in the Pentagon." She knew he had been in there for she knew that Peter had broken him out. Which had caused her to blame Magneto for her son's kidnapping. "If you fear the answer, then do not ask. If there is even a shred of doubt that I am not a villain, then ask me." He was giving her the choice. And he would tell her nothing but the truth.

Magda watched him as he told her that her peace offering was still a form of judgment, and she stayed silent while he did. He went on to tell her he wasn't the same man as he was back then. She could see that. She wasn't the same either. It was in these differences that caused the trouble.
Then he told her to ask him why he was in prison. She had avoided demanding any excuses from him about many things. Not feeling it was her place any longer. Yet his words 'if there is any doubt, ask me' rang in her hears. "Why where you arrested, and put in a prison?" She asked him, but did not stop there. He'd opened the door, "What happened in Pairs? With the girl who was blue, that the cameras showed you fighting." She wanted him to prove he wasn't the bad guy, but she was also braced for the words he would give her, the ones that might prove he was.

She asked a series of questions. All of which were fairly complex ones that required detailed explanations. But this was what he had wanted. He had wanted her to question his intentions and not immediately presume that they were ones stemmed from an evil heart. Humans did it to mutants all the time. He wanted her to be better than that, and now she was proving she was. He paused, knowing that he would have to give the whole reason, the whole story, rather than just parts of it. The question became, could he trust her with such truths? She had come to him in a guise, under a deception yet at the same time, felt that she would not reveal what he would tell her to another. He knew he could at least start with her first question, for all of them were fairly loaded -- particularly the latter ones.
"I was arrested for assassinating President John. F. Kennedy," he answered. His words were emotionless, not revealing any bitter resentment toward the false imprisonment, though he would forever despise the fact that he had wasted ten years in a cell. What made it worse, was that during that time, so many mutants had been dying and he was unable to do anything to stop it. Reaching a red light, he took advantage and turned his head to look at her. "I did not do it," he stated, his voice sincere. He had never lied to her and he hoped that this record allowed her to believe him now in what he said. Turning his gaze forward to the road again, he continued. "I attempted to stop the bullet from hitting him. A bullet fired by another's gun." The man had also been caught, but Magneto was the one that had taken all the blame.
"The bullet curved, but they apprehended me before I could fully cease it." Thus, causing the attack to be lethal on the president. He did not go into detail about the trial; about how they had made him expose his power and used that against him in the prosecution. He knew with this, would come the same question that Charles had asked him. For those who knew him, would know that he would not try to save another human without strong cause. And they were right. For JFK had not been a human. "He was one of us," he stated, adding a legitimacy to his motive of saving him, rather than a motive for supposedly killing him. To have a mutant in such a high power of position could have made a difference, but instead, he had been killed. Not that he held the same belief as Charles in relying on legislature and laws to win this war.

Erik began answering the questions, and Magda stayed silent while he did, not wanting him to stop speaking. There was something about him, his voice, his conviction, his charisma--it made almost everything he said sound true and believable. Still, Erik was many things but he wasn't a liar. That much she knew to be true. "I was arrested for assassinating President John. F. Kennedy," Her lips parted and a silent gasp formed on them. An assassination?
Erik came to stop at a light, and looked at her, right into her eyes. "I did not do it," And she believed him. Yet knew there had to be more to the story rather then just he was there, and got blamed. Thousands where there. How had they picked him? "I attempted to stop the bullet from hitting him. A bullet fired by another's gun. The bullet curved, but they apprehended me before I could fully cease it." He had been trying to save a life, and they'd damned him for taking one. Was it because they saw mutant, and thought weapon? Did they not believe Erik when he told them? WHY was he even there?
"He was one of us," Which explained so much. In truth, it explained everything. Erik--who had thought he was alone the last time she'd seen him--had found others like him and was protecting them. It fit him. Fit what she knew of him. Looking away, Magda looked out the window, fighting to keep her emotions in check, but knowing some of it was on her face. 10 years in what had to be a windowless, sunless cell all because he was trying to save someone like him. When she spoke, it was almost hesitant, but her tone said it wasn't because she disbelieved him. "Then . . . ." She sighed, "Then I am . . . I am grateful that Peter helped an innocent man, even if I think his risk was foolish of him."
Looking back to Erik, she tried to imagine how he felt when no one believed him and . . . no. Her face shifted as she realized what this meant. "And you would not reveal his secret, even after his death, to save your own life." He would not have undone everything the president had done. He would not have brought everything into question, because he would want to protect whatever the president had done to help their kind. Or had he told them?

She spoke of how she was grateful that Peter helped him escape. Not Erik, his father, Not, Magneto the mutant. But rather, an innocent man. That was how she had perceived him. In this particular case, it was true. He may be guilty of many crimes, but killing the President had not been one of them. Threatening the current President, well, that was part of what he was wanted for now. She then seemed to realized that he had not revealed the secret. That despite the chance it could have given him, which he doubted anyway, he had not spilled the truth. "It is not my place to forcibly expose a mutant," he told her. Years ago, he had gone with Charles to find recruits. Part of why he had suggested them doing so was because some mutants did not want to be found. Some did not want to expose their powers.
Magneto could convince them to do so; to reveal their mutation and be proud of it. But he would not put them in a position where it was physically forced out of them. For he had been in such circumstances at Shaw's hand, and would never do the same. "I should not have had to spill the secrets of one mutant, in order for society to see the truth of my innocence." Because he should have had justice on his side. But alas, there was none in the world when it came to humans. Mutants had to fight for it. "They had already decided that it was my doing. Telling them that the former President was a mutant would not have solved anything, nor was it my place to do so." He had tried to make it his place to save him, but once again, humans were responsible for the death of another mutant, this time, a more powerful and influential one. Firstly because it had been a human who fired the gun, and secondly, because it had been humans who had stopped him from altering the direction of the bullet to save the President's life.

Erik would not expose another mutant. While he claimed that he should not have to do that in order to clear his name--Magda wondered if it had been hard or easy for him to keep that deciding factor to himself for all these years. Had he spoken up it would have helped prove his words, but undo everything the president had done in his career--and personal life. His wife and children would suffer for it.
Reaching over she touched his arm, giving it a small squeeze so he would know that she approved, and understood. While there might be many disagreements between then, on this they agreed. No mutant should be forced to come out, and Erik would not ruin so many lives just to save his own. "And what of Pairs? I saw parts of it on the telly. A girl jumping from a window, changing form. You following her." Dragging her toward him as she cried out in fear. "Will you tell me what happened there?"

He felt Magda touch his arm, a gentle touch, a soft contact, one that confirmed the shift in mood and alleviation of tension that had existed just moments ago. Letting that subject be put to rest, she then once again asked about Paris. It was what he had wanted, for her to ask him. Yet he knew that in explaining that situation, there would be seemingly impossible to believe events. But to start it off, he would need to explain who she was. "Her name is Raven, or as I knew her to be, Mystique." A woman he had and would always be quite fond of. He had not attempted to kill her because he wanted to. He had done so out of necessity. Yet holding that gun to her had not been easy. Pulling the trigger had been difficult. And he knew that in doing so, he had lost her. Not just physically, but emotionally. And the trust and loyalty that existed between them was gone.
"She was part of The Brotherhood, one of our earlier members," he stated, his mind recalling that moment where she had taken his hand; a non verbal gesture of choosing her side. And it had been with him. "We were close," he said with intentional ambiguity. "She was very passionate about our cause and eagerly fought for it, even during my imprisonment." He knew that had he not been imprisoned, perhaps things would have been different. Perhaps he could have deterred her from even considering to kill Trask. He of all people could understand the need to exact vengeance, so he believed that if anyone could relate to her, it would be him. Thus, if anyone could get through to her, it would have been him. But it had all been too late. He paused there, allowing the time for any questions regarding the 'blue woman' as Magda referred to her as. This was not something that could be rushed in telling, for there were many aspects of it that were a bit complicated, particularly the next part.

"Her name is Raven, or as I knew her to be, Mystique." Another mutant name. Magda had only ever gone by her own, but she had seen many mutants in his group use such names. Toad for one. They always seemed to hint toward their powers. Magda wondered about the girl's powers, she could change her shape? Everyone had saw her change into the woman, then back to the blue. "She was part of The Brotherhood, one of our earlier members," Which said a great deal about the woman. She was a fighter, believed in 'mutant power'. Magda wasn't sure where she stood right now, but knew that many had taken to Erik's side after seeing him on the telly and being moved--Peter had spoken of nothing for days and days afterwards.
"We were close," That gave Magda pause, for she could almost tell what he meant. Erik gave detail about everything else, but this he kept vague. Was this Mystique a lover of his? Feeling the slight jealous feeling, Magda knew that it was foolish for her to feel such. They had parted ways and even herself had found comfort in others. Surely this Mystique wasn't the only one. "She was very passionate--" Was she now? "--about our cause and eagerly fought for it, even during my imprisonment."
Erik seemed to pause talking, either to drive, or give her a moment to think about things. "The story is a complex one, is it not." For any time one started off a friend, and then ended up with one trying to kill the other in the streets . . . . Was it something personal? Or for the cause? Had this Mystique switched sides or betrayed him? But Magda knew the odds were not in Mystique having hurt her emotionally and left in in a rage. Erik was too in control for that. He held himself back emotionally, so he could do the mission first. "Did she come to fight for humans?" She asked, trying to follow the story.

Magda could not be more right. It was indeed a complicated story, and he was trying to determine the best way to tell her. Sparing her all of the irrelevant information and focusing on the aspects that would provide justification for his actions. "She was going to kill Trask," Magneto stated. He would have had absolutely no objection to this act . . . had he not discovered that the repercussions would have been so great. Assuming that she knew about Trask as he was often in the news, as were his machines, Magneto left out further explanation of the man. "There are mutants who possess incredible powers," he began to explain. "These powers involve time travel. Or rather, sending a person's conscious mind to a different time period." Not their physical being, but their mind. He allowed a few moments of silence to pass, letting this absorb into Magda's mind and understanding.
"A mutant came to us from a future time, informing us that Mystique's actions would cause the approval of the Sentinel project." Who knew that it would have such great consequences. "She would also be captured because of it and tested upon as her genetics were the key to unlocking the machines in becoming unstoppable." Leaving mutants powerless against them. "This in turn would cause the extinction of our race." Of mutants. Eradicated from the earth just as Hitler tried to eradicate all those of Jewish religion, as well as numerous other groups of people. "There were only a handful of us left, no more than ten. It was our last hope in saving mutants from extinction, to send a mutant back and stop the event that would have such severe and unimaginable repercussions." He knew this was a lot to process. But he needed to finish so that he could explain the initial concern: why he had tried to kill Mystique. "I could not let this happen. And I felt the only way to secure our future, was by eliminating the one mutant who threatened it." Mystique.
For it had been proven. Magneto's fears and predictions about how humans would treat mutants had been true. Even Charles conceded to that. He just continued to hope that humans would change, but Magneto was not willing to take that risk. "It brought me no pleasure to do this. Targeting Mystique was far more difficult than I can express." She had been a friend. A loyal brotherhood member. A mutant. "But I believed that one life to save millions of others, was a sacrifice worth making." He had made that judgment. And knew because of it, he would never have Mystique's forgiveness. But what was important to him now, was that Magda understood his reasons. She may not agree with them -- Charles certainly hadn't -- but he had been desperate. He was dedicating his life to stopping the threat of mutant extinction, and it devastated him to know that in all the years he fought, it was futile because humans would win. This revelation now fueled his actions, realizing that he needed to be more aggressive and fight harder against the threat of human domination.

Magda listened to his story, not sure what she felt while hearing it. The end of the world? Death to all mutants. If their was so few left then . . . Peter. Her daughter. Herself. They would have been dead, for if not then surely Erik would have known about them sooner rather then how he had come to learn of them. It was frightening to think. Turning just her head so that she was looking away from him, Magda tried to take in the idea of her own mortality. Of that of her children, and what she would do to protect them. Could she kill one to save millions? Doubtful. Yet Erik had seen the numbers and decided he must.
Magda wasn't even sure how she felt about that. "It brought me no pleasure to do this. Targeting Mystique was far more difficult than I can express." Because no matter what he claimed to be, Erik wasn't heartless. He wasn't the stone cold killer they wanted to make him out to be. Even with that knowlage she still wasn't sure how she felt. Looking back at him, Erik said what she had been thinking, "But I believed that one life to save millions of others, was a sacrifice worth making." One life. One life that he clearly had favored, for he had said ti was hard. What if someone came and told him that another mutant was the key now? Would he kill them?
It was a hard thought, knowing that one life could save so many, but knowing she might not be able to make the same choice. Looking back at him, she tried to read what she could on his face, even though it was hard. If Peter turned out be to the next key? Or herself? "This is a lot to take in," She admitted, "I am not sure I could have made that choice." Because she wasn't sure she could kill anyone. "What happened after? I saw on the telly that she was still alive." Which made her heart jump, "Is that . . . . is that still the future for mutants?" For her son? Were they going to be killed?!

She spoke of how she was unsure whether she could make that choice, and he could understand that mentality. When he had been a boy, he never thought himself capable of killing anyone . . . until his mother was murdered before his eyes. It had unleashed an anger within him that he had no control over, and that he did not regret. While he had not killed to save his mother -- for he had been too late -- he had killed to avenge her. And that had not been his last murder. He had killed to help save Magda. And the spiral of killings that followed were all to avenge those who had died during the Holocaust. Though now it was less about vengeance and more about survival. "That is perhaps because you have never been in a situation which required you to," he told her. People were capable of extraordinary things; things they never would have thought themselves able to do. So he wanted to put this into perspective for her.
"What if you knew who was directly responsible for killing your son and daughter at a future time? What if you knew how they were going to kill them, and did not believe there was a way to stop it unless the threat was permanently eliminated?" He used her children as examples, because he knew she loved them, probably more than herself. "What then would you do, Magda? Would you allow the impending threat to continue? Or would you do all you could to protect them, no matter the cost?" In his case, it had not just been one or two mutants, it had been their entire race. "If you saw them being threatened and attacked before your eyes, would you not intervene and stop the attack in the most effective way possible?" Meaning, kill the aggressor. He knew these were dark images to present, but he was making a point. Besides, this was the world they lived in. It was not just in their past at the camps, but it was also in the present and the future.
"It is difficult to understand making such a choice when not faced with the circumstance that calls for it. But imagine those you love being endangered and their death inevitable, unless you take matters into your own hands." He believed this was what made him an adequate leader for the Brotherhood; being able to make decisions that others may not be able to make. Her next question pertained to the future. Part of him wanted to continue playing on the scenario of what if . . . but he decided against that. She should know the truth. "As far as I know, the future has been altered. Whether it has secured the existence for mutants, I am unsure. But we know that the Sentinels will no longer pose as a threat for the time being." But that did not mean he would stop fighting. For after Trask, there would be another. Peter's kidnapping proved that.
