Black Swan setting: genosha
timeline: post assassin days
notes: LSquared first meeting!
| Perhaps startled wasn't the correct word but Luca was certainly caught off guard when the woman responded to his question that was . . . meant for no one. Another thing he hated; that he could be caught off guard when for so long, he was all too aware of his surroundings. He had made a living off of being stealth and inconspicuous. Now, he seemed to be neither. At least, temporarily. He watched her as she sat down and his mind was struggling to process everything she was saying. Down under. Cold. Tea. Warm. It took him longer than it should so he just responded with silence.
Looking at her extended hand, he tried to force his mind to move his own had forward; another belated action and by the time he felt like he could . . . too much time had passed. Too many moments so to shake her hand now, would just be awkward and random. And make it look far too obvious. So, he would have to pass it off as him being rude. Which, he could do. It wasn't as if he had worked to make a lot of friends in his former occupation. Turning to look at the fire, he just stared at the embers, trying to think of something easy to say.
"Luca," he introduced. The name still sounded so foreign on his tongue but he had said it far more often than Black Swan here on this island. "We have water," he suggested. "You can get water and boil it on the fire." It would be tea . . . just without the flavour. Besides, it was the easiest thing for Luca to respond to right now. Something basic and seemingly effortless but unfortunately, no conversation was completely effortless for the former assassin.

Black Swan setting: Magda's house
timeline: assassin days
notes: Sorry Magda!
| Luca didn't want to accept it. His deep seated denial and refusal to accept it making him arrogant and determined. He was watching the target through the window, his sniper rifle pointed right at him. But, he lacked the same . . . focus he normally had. Was that even the right word for it? Focus? Concentration? Stealth? Accuracy? Yes. Definitely accuracy for when he fired the bullet, it grazed the target's arm. The impact of it however caused the target to stumble back, slip and hit his head on the edge of a desk. Well, damn.
While accidents were an assassin's friend, for it became less problematic and drew less attention . . . Black Swan preferred it the other way. He preferred knowing that it was him, and only him who had killed the target. Thus, disproving any hindrance of his powers that he was feeling. There was only one way to find out. Having watched the house, he knew no one else was home so hurried inside, closing the door behind him and looking at the . . . unconscious man. Yes. He was unconscious. He could see the rise and fall of his chest. Black Swan took a slow breath and closed his eyes, putting his finger to his temple before flicking it forward while simultaneously opening his eyes. While it caused the body to jolt, the impact was far greater on Black Swan.
His lips parted in agony though he made no sound. His features twisted in pain as he could practically feel a piece of his brain frying. Had it not been his arrogance, he would not have placed himself in this position. And he would not have damaged his mental state even more. And he would not have been so delayed in his reaction that he belatedly recognized a woman standing there. There was a witness. Yet he was still trying to recover from his failed attempt of his powers. One thing at a time. Not that time was ever on a hitman's side.

Black Swan setting: genosha
timeline: post assassin days
notes: LSquared first meeting!
| Luca was just staring into the embers of the fire. He was used to being on his own, and found it comfortable enough. In fact, it was . . . odd, seeing same faces everyday. Working with the same people. Those who said hi to him in passing and called him by his name. His true name. He'd only been here but a short time and already people knew him. Of course he knew it was due to the small community but the entire circumstance was just, unfamiliar. After spending so many years being a shadow to the world, he was now leaving footprints behind him. It was a nice life that would take some getting used to.
Which was why he took advantage of these more, quiet moments. He was helping the others in building homes as the population seemed to grow. Here, there did not seem to be a concept of money, but rather, a barter system where people worked based on their trade and skills. His had once been shooting people but that would not come in handy. And so, he picked manual labour and it seemed to be going well enough.
He hoped that no one noticed though. That he would take a little longer to process things, that his motor skills were a bit more delayed. He never would have considered himself weak but with what happened . . . he supposed he fell into that category now. "No. You're fine. No one notices. You're fine." He hadn't even realized he was talking to himself -- or at the fire -- just as he hadn't realized that someone was standing there.

Black Swan setting: genosha
timeline: post assassin days
notes: Whoops! Sorry Lorna!
| Life in Genosha was quiet, though there was always something to do. It was still developing, perhaps more rapidly with the number of mutants that came in. Luca couldn't help but the militant faction: the Brotherhood. It was up his ally far more than being a mere civilian. But, he knew better than to offer himself for such a position. He was not yet recovered; not yet healed. And he had to believe that one day, he would be. With limited -- to practically no -- use of his powers, his brain would surely heal. For he refused to end up like his father had.
So remaining idle was not an option. He had instead, offered to aid in the construction of homes. He could move wood and lay brick. Another green haired woman was assisting in the task, through the use of her powers. Was it really so easy to use them without such severe repercussions as his own? A question he would dare not ask, for it would expose his weaknesses. So instead, he would just quietly work. Work and watch as she moved the objects with ease, aligning the structure as they stabilized it. He knew her name but not much more than that. A name was enough of a personal connection that Luca had often be void of for so many years. An identity. One he regained being on this island for he was no longer Black Swan. He was simply, Luca Sandoval.
"Take a break!" He heard someone yell. Luca put down the last piece of wood before the crowd dispersed. He went to fill the small small of water from the pump, putting his hand on it and stopping for a moment. Staring at it, and hoping no one noticed. It was frustrating, to say the least. Especially when he was so aware of the delay. Proceeding to pump the water out he filled his cup though did not realize someone was behind him, and by the time he did, it was too late. He turned around, bumping into the very green haired woman he had been glancing at as the water spilled all over . . . well, her mostly. He looked down, belatedly realizing what had happened and it would take him several moments to absorb the sight enough to apologize.

Character Basics
.:Name of Character:. Luca Sandoval .:Species:. Mutant .:Alias:. Black Swan .:Affiliation:. None
Appearance
.:Physical Appearance:. Luca is tall with a muscular build. His features are reflective of his Native American mother more than his German father. Whilst on the job, he dresses in sophisticated and well tailored suits. His long hair that is well down his back, is often slicked back into a perfect ponytail or a single long braid. He is always clean shaven, often seen wearing sunglasses to help maintain an inconspicuous appearance. When 'quitting' his job as an assassin, he cut off his hair so it is shortly cropped, and his attire became more casual, having gone from expensive suits to jeans and a shirt. .:Height:. 6"2' .:Portrayed by:. Martin Sensmeier
Personality
.:Personality:. Black Swan is someone who mostly keeps to himself. In his line of work, it is always best not to make long lasting connections, to remain reserved and elusive, only showing up to fulfil the job. His life is one of solitude and he quite prefers it that way. He lacks enough sensitivity and empathy to be able to kill his target without questioning his actions or stopping enough to exercise remorse. Once quitting his job however and leaving the identity of Black Swan behind him, he became someone else. Due to the extensive use of his powers, his mental capacity has deteriorated a little. This resulted in a slight delay in his motor functions and mental processing. He also occasionally talks to himself and takes a few extra moments to sometimes perform a task that may be seemingly effortless to complete. .:Powers/Abilities:. Psionic Viruses: Black Swan has the ability to implant a psionic virus into another's mind which disrupts mental processing and motor functions. This would hinder natural functions of ones brains to cut off access to and override motor coordination, disorient their concentration, create a delay in perception and actions, etc.
In his line of work, he is also an extremely skilled assassin, inclusive of hand to hand combat, and extremely well trained in different types of firearms. .:Weaknesses:. When projecting these telepathic viruses onto another, for that brief moment, his mind is connected to the other person's. When killing his victim, it takes a toll on his mental capacity and overtime, caused his own brain to start deteriorating. It reached the point that each time he killed someone with the aid of his powers, it degenerated a part of his own brain. He also must be able to see the person in order to project a mental virus onto them.
History
.:Birthplace:. Germany .:Family:. Mother and Father .:Occupation:. Hitman/Assassin, Worker .:Current Location of Residence:. As an assassin, he did not live in one place, once leaving the job, he moved to Genosha .:History:. Luca was born as the sole son of a Native American mother and a German father. He had a simple upbringing, his life uneventful . . . that is, until his powers started to take form. He was arguing with his father one day and not realizing what exactly he could do, Luca projected a telepathic virus into his father's brain. The lack of control and severity of it took quick effect onto his father. Despite the doctors efforts, they were unable to explain how his brain deteriorated so quickly. He no longer had the use of his motor functions, coupled with extreme delay processing. The doctors recommended putting him in a facility, but Luca's mother refused and kept him at home. However, because of his dependency, Luca's mother dedicated every moment of her time to his father, taking care of him in every aspect. This caused distance between him and his family and when he reached the age of 18, moved out like any average new adult would.
Only Luca did not have a clear vision of what he wished to do. With the realization of his powers and the potential it held, he longed to do something that would make an impact, leaving a lasting mark. Little did he know how this would take form in his life. He ended up becoming a hitman, an assassin. It started with small jobs, simple ones . . . but as he perfected his powers, his targets became more high profile. He became known as Black Swan, a notable name in this world. He became a well known and used assassin, his capabilities and success rate granting him very high profile targets for wealthy and elite employers. Over time however, the repercussions of Black Swan's actions took hold. With every kill, came the loss of his own mental abilities.
It came to the point where he had his first failed kill, unable to assassinate the target due to his own delayed motor functions. It was at this point, that Black Swan knew he could not continue onto his path; otherwise, he would wind up like his father. Thus, Black Swan disappeared without a trace and Luca resurfaced. He masked his appearance and discovered a place called Genosha, one of isolation and resided by mutants only. This being the perfect place to lay low, Luca moved to Genosha and waits for his mental capabilities to recover so that he can fully heal. He works here in construction, aiding in any manual labour and the building of homes.
