Character Basics
.:Name of Character:. John Allerdyce .:Species:. Mutant .:Alias:. Pyro .:Affiliation:. Started with The X-Men at the school, and then joined the Brotherhood
Appearance
.:Physical Appearance:. Pyro is of medium height and slight build. He has brown hair with streaks which he often styles in different ways. Sometimes it is completely slicked back. Other times it is spiked up. He dresses very casually, as a normal teenage boy would, but at the same time he puts in thought as to what he is going to wear, and his over all appearance. He often dresses in jeans and a t-shirt, and sometimes his leather jacket.
Pyro is never seen without his lighter or flame thrower. His Zippo lighter is gray with an image of teeth, looking like a shark. He is very protective of this lighter and often flicks it on and off. If he does not have his lighter with him, then that only means one thing: that he has his flame thrower. His flame thrower is a lighting device which he attaches to his hand and is activated by pushing a button on his palm with his fingers. It is a faster way for him to start a fire, so it is his preference. He has one on each hand. .:Height:. 5"11' .:Portrayed by:. Aaron Stanford
Personality
.:Personality:. Pyro first and foremost is very proud to be a mutant. He never sees his abilities as a negative thing and hates when people are ashamed of being mutants. His pride leads to his arrogance. He is far too confident in his skills, causing him to be somewhat cocky, sarcastic, and rude at times. He has little to no respect for authority which leads to rather rebellious behaviour; he enjoys breaking the rules regardless of the consequences he knows will follow and will thus act impulsively. He is argumentative and a bit of a bully at times, as he enjoys telling other people what to do. He does not like awkward silences so does what he can to eliminate them, even if that includes mouthing off for no reason.
Pyro is both fickle and loyal at the same time. If he is associated to people who share the same beliefs as him, then he is extremely loyal to them. However, if he is surrounded by people who have clashing views and beliefs, he tends to argue and be more hostile towards them. Pyro has a deep, immense hatred for non-mutants (homo sapiens). He will target them any chance he gets, and would kill them without an ounce of remorse for his actions. He is lonely but will never admit it. In fact, those feelings of loneliness and hurt are replaced by bitterness, anger and a drive for revenge (mostly against humans).
Overall, Pyro is independent, appears to be fearless, and can have a short fuse; he can be easily angered if you say the wrong thing to him and is always prepared for a fight whether it be with his powers or his fists. Usually it is with his powers, because he enjoys showing off and receiving praise from people about what he can do, or watching others cringe in fear at his dangerous abilities. Either reaction is sufficient for John Allerdyce. He is impatient, and does not think things through. He will react, without considering the consequences of his actions, and this leads him to irrational and highly impulsive behavior. .:Powers/Abilities:. Pyrokinesis: Pyro has the ability to mentally manipulate a flame by shaping it the way he desires it to be. This involves increasing or decreasing its heat, intensity and size. He can make a fire ice cold, or blazing hot. He can not create fire on his own; but all he needs is even the tiniest spark and he will be able to start one from there. As he is able to manipulate the flame, this means he induces it to take semi solid form as a flame being capable of movement and/or grasping or carrying solid objects. The degree of Pyro's concentration necessary to manipulate a flame is proportional to the being's size, power and flame.
Pyro can not be burned by the flame that he is manipulating. He can be harmed by any fire that he does not mentally control, however this is rare for he can usually control any fire that is near him (whether he was initially manipulating it or not). .:Weaknesses:. Pyro can not create a flame but rather, manipulate it. Which means, if he does not have his lighter, flamethrower, or any spark to help ignite his powers, he won't be able to use them.
History
.:Birthplace:. New York .:Family:. Mary Allerdyce [mother], Peter Allerdyce [father], Thomas Allerdyce [brother], Kelly Allerdyce [sister] .:Occupation:. Student, to Magneto's right hand man .:Current Location of Residence:. Brotherhood Headquarters .:History:. John Allerdyce was born into a decent family. He had caring parents, good siblings, a nice home in a nice neighbourhood, and were financially stable. The first few years of his life were rather ordinary, nothing uncommon for a typical boy . . . until, he discovered something that would change his life forever.
It was when Pyro was 10 years old that he discovered his abilities. Of course, it was not in the best way. There had been signs in the past; small things, such as small flames increasing when he was around, or the oven suddenly getting a massive burst of heat. Pyro was not to blame for these things however, as the thought that he was a mutant had not even occurred to his family or himself. But when Pyro was 10, there was an incident he could not ignore.
He had 'accidentally' set a tree on fire. He had been upset at the time, and not in full control of his powers. His parents witnessed this event and though they tried to logically explain it, they knew there was only one possible explanation. The thought of his powers and what he was terrified them. He was the first mutant in their family and they were unsure how to deal with that. In the years that followed, his life dramatically changed. His parents were a lot more distant from him, and his siblings acted scared whenever he was around. John noticed this behavior, and tried desperately to alter it so that he would not be ostracized from his own family. His efforts were useless. While he wanted to be accepted, he did not want to hide his powers. He wanted to show them off to the world, proud of what he could do. His parents did not agree with his methods. He began to act out, for attention no doubt. He would get in fights, destroy public property, and all the other things a teenage delinquent tended to do.
That is why, when he was 14 years old, his parents had enough, and drove him to the middle of the city and left him on the streets to fend for himself. He was completely lost. He did not know where to go, or who to go to. All he knew was that from that moment on, he hated all humans and their inability to accept mutants. He believed that mutants were the superior race. He wanted revenge, and soon became consumed with that feeling. But he was still not in full control of his powers. He eventually discovered Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and found out that it was a place that mutants could go to when they had nowhere else to do. John went, looking forward to meeting others like him.
The school was not quite what he expected. His views and beliefs of mutants and Homo sapiens clashed with Xavier's and the other X-Men’s. For this reason, John, once again, felt out of place. But he stayed...having nowhere else to go. In the years to follow, he would meet Magneto; a mutant with a presence that he could not ignore. Magneto praised Pyro's powers (something that Pyro loves to hear) and eventually, John chose to join The Brotherhood, finally being able to fight for something that he believes in; finally fighting for what is his opinion of a worthy cause. He was Magneto's right hand man, and remained extremely loyal to him and the Brotherhood.
