Magda had not quite yet adjusted to the idea of Erik's bastard. Had it been a child in need, and if she had met them before she knew, then maybe things would have been different. Instead it was a mouthy, power hungry, foolish woman and Magda found herself hating the sight of her, The thought of her. Of what she represented. Ania had died, because Magda had failed to protect her. Because she had decided to stay with Erik, and try to survive in this world. This other woman had escaped with her daughter intact. HER daughter got to live while Magda's never stood a chance. And this woman was nothing a reminder of the painful past.
She was working on one of the medical units, trying to make it work better, grateful for the task to keep her mind from things when she hear footsteps behind her. Turning her head she looked over her shoulder then jerked her head back forward, her whole body stiffening. "So I guess you do know," Polaris sounded smug, and Magda found her breathing growing quicker. She wanted her to leave, but in truth, she also refused to acknowledge her. "It's all hush hush for now, but it wont be for long." Go away! Magda found her hands tensing. She came to brag? Did she expect Magda to open her arms in glee? "Soon though. He clearly wanted me to be apart of his life. He went out of his way and delayed working with the Brotherhood to find out if I was his! Surely that says he wants me here."
Magda turned to face her, still silently raging, hoping that she girl would be smart enough to just walk away. "I figured he was waiting because he didn't want to tell you, but clearly that wasn't it. Maybe it's pride. Maybe you don't want to share?" Magda just stared at her, wishing like hell she could shut her up. Polaris reached up to causally touch some of the wiring, even pulling a few apart. Magda remained silent. She would not be bullied into childish antics by some little girl who wanted to play house. Turning, Magda looked away, determined now more then ever to ignore her. To never acknowledge her presence.
"If you are so bitter about me then maybe you should have given him a kid. Maybe he would have married you then?" She sounded amused, but for Magda it was the straw that broke the camel's back. It was the one thing she could never joke about, only rarely talk about, and for this little bastard to through it in her face was going to far.
She wanted to hit her, kick her, drag her by that awful green hair and dumb her into the sea! Instead she did something much easier. Her hand shot out and told the computer to fill with electricity, causing the wires that Polaris had her hand on to fill with it too. Magda didn't turn it off, even when she saw Polaris' hand clinch automatically, and scream out. Instead she begin turning it up and--"Enough!"
Erik had joined them. Magda turned the power off, and watched Polaris fall gasping to her knees, before turning to storm off. A crowd had gathered outside the room and every single one of them backed away giving her room to storm out without breaking stride--Magda didn't look at Erik on her way out. She'd stopped because he had demanded it, but this was far from over.
Magda wasn't sure how long she had been staring out her window, while seething over what had happened. Her fingers stroked over the tattoo on her arm, and she just keep staring out while not seeing anything. Erik would come eventually. She knew that, because she knew him. Normally they were united in all things, but this had gone too far. This time she would not be understanding.

Things had been a little tense as of late. Polaris and Magda were not getting along. While they remained civil in his presence, he was no fool. He was fully aware that they were at unease with one another, though he had never felt the need to intervene. Not until today. He was casually passing by one of the rooms in the medical unit, when he had heard a scream. He'd rushed through the door to see Magda and Polaris, one electrocuting the other. "Enough!" He demanded. Things had gone too far now. It was one thing to give side glances and minimal disapproving words . . . but to physically harm the other, well, that was unacceptable. How could the Brotherhood function if there were those within it who were attacking one another. The simple answer: it could not. But this was more than just a mere disagreement. For Magneto knew it was because of him. It was by his actions and the emotional results of them from either woman. Still, he could not let it continue. It was time to intervene.
With Magda storming out, he had to check on Polaris first to make sure she was alright as she was the one who had been physically harmed. He did not doubt that she most likely said something to provoke Magda -- as Magda would not have attacked her at random like this -- but he would get to that soon enough. Seeing that she was unconscious, he lifted Polaris in his arms, carrying her to the examining board -- as it was rather convenient that they were in the medical unit. She was at least breathing and her pulse was in tact, so the main injury was the burn on her hand caused by the electrocution. Having to prevent an infection, and not needing to wait for anyone to assist, he quickly put some medicine on the burn and then proceeded to wrap a bandage around it. She remained unconscious, and Magneto would use this opportunity to speak to Magda. The small crowd that had gathered were watching curiously. "Monitor her," he told one of them as he made his way through the hall. It was time that this came to an end.
He made his way to Magda's room, opening it with his abilities and closing it the same way. He walked right in, seeing that she was by the window. He knew full well that this was far from easy for it, but it was clear that he could no longer be passive about it. He could no longer ignore the tensions. He stood there expectantly, as if waiting for her to say something before he decided to break the silence. "What happened was unacceptable." His voice was calm, not displaying any anger, but it tone held a firmness that indicated the strength of his words. As he had previously recognized, he knew that Polaris most likely said something to purposely provoke Magda and trigger this reaction from her, and he would speak to Polaris about that soon enough. Right now however, he was speaking to Magda. "This time, it has gone too far. I will not have the two of you constantly at each other's throats." He knew why, of course he did. But that did not mean he was going to continue to let it happen. He was trying to fight a war and this was not helping!

Magda heard the door open, and she paused while tracing the name. She knew who it was, and had expected him to come. "What happened was unacceptable." Slowly dropping her hands to her she, she turned to look at him, surprised he would take this tone with her! She was not one of his men, and she disliked this.
"I will not have the two of you constantly at each other's throats." Magda begin walking toward her, her anger clear in every move she made. He was right, this had gone far enough but clearly his little favored bastard wasn't going to let things go, and Magda would not stand by and just let the insolent bitch disrespect her in her own home!
"Will you not?" She asked, making it clear she was not in agreement. Coming to a rest before him, Magda looked up into his face. She had never disagreed with him like this since they had come together again. Had never done anything but offer her support and council. This time she would not! This time it had gone too far! "Allow me to tell you what I will not do. I will not stand there and accept the fact that your little bastard wants to belittle, and disrespect me! This is my home, Erik, I have given everything I have to it and to you, and for that--for her to seek me out and say the things she did is what I will not allow to happen in my own home!"
And for him to come to her and not even ask if she was alright, or what had happened only hurt her more! He should know her! He should know by now she did not do these things to everyone! That his little princess had over stepped! "And I will not have you telling me I cannot." That she could not protect herself. "Because if she dares another stunt like this one, it will come down to me or her." And Magda knew how Erik would choose. She didn't want to think it, but the Brotherhood came first. It would be which one was more valuable to the mission.
"Does she know?" Magda demanded, "Did you tell her!? Did you tell her about Ania? Or does she just run her mouth until she pushes people too far?"

Clearly, she was angry. He could not recall the last time she had been this upset. He of course could understand that anger, but that did not mean he condoned what she did -- just as he would not condone whatever it was Polaris had said to her to infuriate her to this extent. Hearing Magda refer to Polaris as his bastard, filling Erik with emotions that he did not even know possible. The derogatory reference to his daughter was . . . difficult to silently stand and listen to. Perhaps it was that instinct that was causing him to embrace her as his daughter as each day passed. Whatever it was, Polaris was precious to him, and hearing her called a bastard . . . well, Magneto had to fight back saying anything, as he allowed Magda to finish speaking. She spoke of how this was her home, how she had given everything to it, how she would not allow this to happen again . . . and that it would come down to Polaris or Magda. This was precisely what Erik had been seeking to avoid: a confrontation where he would be faced with an ultimatum. He never wanted it to come to that. He wanted them both in his life. But, it was becoming abundantly clear that this desire was not as easy or likely to happen any time soon.
She then asked whether he had told her about Ania or not, and that caused him to cease all other responses to her previous words. So that was what it had been. She had commented about a child belonging to Magda. He knew there was no way Polaris had been made aware of Ania. Erik had not told her and Magda certainly would not have. So it must have been a more general comment. One that had hit a nerve. And understandably so. For this was a subject that even he and Magda did not frequently discuss. "I did not tell her anything regarding our past." Not of the concentration camps. Not of their time together. Not of Ania. Magneto did not tell anyone of these things. He merely expected them to respect Magda as the woman he was in an intimate relationship with. And he knew that she was not getting that from Polaris. Why should he have to explain his past with Magda in order for people to understand that? But having a basic idea of what Polaris had said . . . he knew that it was a sore spot, and that he would need to speak to Polaris about this as well, still without revealing the reasons as to why it was so triggering. "You say this is your home, well it is my home as well." His words were not defiant or meant to be argued. His voice was not stern or firm. They were calm and smoothly spoken, with the effort to help calm her angered mood.
"I do not condone her behavior toward you, and I will speak to her about it." He wanted Magda to know that he was not only speaking to her about what had happened; he would have a conversation with Polaris as well. "But she is my daughter. To reject her is to reject a part of me as well." He had not asked for this nor wanted it, but it was in his life now. She was in his life now. "I can not go back and undo the past. What's done is done." He knew that when expecting Ania, that he had not wanted any part of her. Had he known about Lorna then, he wouldn't have wanted any part of her either. But she had been placed in his life now . . . and he could change that. He had made a decision and he would live by it. "I do not expect you to be understanding of this, or even embrace it. I only ask that you be civil toward her. If not for her sake, then for mine." He was asking, rather than demanding. He could not order Magda to do anything. He could only appeal to her in this way. He took a small step toward her, his eyes locking onto hers, looking at her intently. "Please," he said calmly, in further attempt to calm her as well.

"I did not tell her anything regarding our past." Then his daughter was a which who could see things she should not, because she had known just what buttons to hit, and right how to hit them. "You say this is your home, well it is my home as well." Their home, one they spent time together in but did not share, for had had her rooms and he had his. She was with him, but not with him, and Polaris had seen it, somehow she knew that was something that bothered Magda. And she'd used it.
"I do not condone her behavior toward you, and I will speak to her about it." Meaning he had not yet. Either because Polaris was too weak or because he had wanted to come here first. It also meant that chances were he did not know what happened between them yet. "But she is my daughter. To reject her is to reject a part of me as well." Magda closed her eyes and turned her face away, unwilling to look at him for the words were a reminder. "I can not go back and undo the past. What's done is done." Looking back at him, she let him finish, so that when she spoke he would do the same for her, as he had done before.
"I do not expect you to be understanding of this, or even embrace it. I only ask that you be civil toward her. If not for her sake, then for mine." Magda opened her mouth to rebuttal, but then he spoke once more and she was surprised at the words. "Please," Because he never said please. He never asked, he told. But he was asking her, and using a word that from anyone else would have made the request a beg, but from Erik it only humbled the request.
Taking a large sigh, she looked tot he side for a moment, trying to control her anger before looking back at him. "I said nothing to her, I was going to ignore her until she went away, but she said things I will never be able to ignore." Magda hated her, so much. For everything she was, and reminded her of. "In her displeasure over you not acknowledging that she is your . . . yours, she came to me and told me that I had I allowed you to get me pregnant you'd have married me." Two things that was sure to get to her, and in one swift comment, Polaris had used them both against her. Magda wanted children, and she was very aware of where she stood with Erik. Apparently she wasn't the only one.
"I will never embrace her, but I don't want to make this harder for you." But someone had to stand up for her, and if she could not stand up for herself then what good was her freedoms? "But nor will I allow that--" Bastard. "--that arrogant little girl to speak to me suchly." A vender had once treated her disrespectfully and Erik had reacted strongly, but when Magda defended herself from a greater threat it was unacceptable.
"Every time I look at her, or you speak of her the only thing I can hear is your words to me when I was pregnant. Then you did not want to be a father, Erik, and now you do. You sent me away after she died because I was human . . . and you went to another! She is a reminder of that. Every time I see her, every time you speak of her I am back in that moment . . . . I am not sure there is any civilness left in me, Erik." Her tone wasn't meant to hurt him, but one explaining why she could not be civil. "I tired to ignore her, but she would not have it so."
"There was once when I knew there was nothing I would not do for you, but I do not think I can you you this. . . . not yet. Maybe not ever."

Her tone was slightly more calm, but her words were still angry. It was clear she was not going to back down or let this go. Magda then explained what Polaris had said to set her off. He remained silent, understanding that such comments were enough to anger anyone . . . even he was rather, displeased upon hearing that Polaris had said such things to Magda. He knew it was not justified or appropriate, but he -- as always -- remained calm and composed, knowing that him getting upset and overly defensive would not help the situation. Magda and Polaris were already both so upset; he did not want to intensify the situation even more -- if that was even possible at this pint. So he stayed quiet, allowing Magda to get all her thoughts and words out, waiting for her to finish before he decided to response. "What she said to you was inexcusable," Magneto said truthfully, and not just to appease Magda. He meant what he sad. As he had always said, he was not someone who would get married, nor plan for children. What happened was unexpected, but he had to deal with the consequences. As did the other people in his life whom he was close to. "And I do not expect to embrace her." He knew that. He would not have false hope that the two would somehow magically be friends and suddenly get along.
"She does not understand our relationship, Magda." He didn't speak to anyone in depth about it. So long as Magda knew how he felt, that was what mattered. "She speaks thoughtlessly as is her nature with those she does not care for. I am by no means agreeing with her words nor justifying it. But you should not pay attention to it. She does not know or comprehend us." Them, as in, their relationship and them being together. "To allow this to drive a wedge between us is what she wants." Magneto was not blind or oblivious to Polaris' . . . possessiveness. He knew that she enjoyed being center of attention, a feeling that had grown stronger ever since she found out he was her father. "We are stronger than that." For look at all they had been through. But even with that said, he needed to clarify something else, regarding her words about having sent her away because he did not want to be a father and seeking the comfort of another human. "I never wanted to be a father." Words he still stood by. "I never planned to be one and I knew that my lifestyle could never be catered toward a child." He did not believe that he was destined to be a father . . . how wrong he was. But he would not justify his reasons for having relations with Susanna. He knew it had been a lustful night; no emotions involved, no commitment. Just, a single night of intimacy and then it was done. He had left and never saw her again nor had any intention or desire to. And she was not the only woman he had such an encounter with.
"What should I have done when I found out the truth? Should I have cast her out? Rejected her from the Brotherhood when she had come to fight for the cause we all strongly believe in?" His questions were somewhat rhetorical, and he ensured his tone was not defensive. It still held that same composure. What would Magda have wanted him to do for now she spoke of how she could not even stand the sight of her because it hurt too much . . . and how she may never be able to show civility toward her. "Tell me what you propose I do, for it is not my intention to hurt you with her presence." What then? Would Magda tell him to send her away? To send her back into a world where mutants were targeted; a world where she was alone with no one? Had he found out she was his daughter before The Brotherhood, things would have been different. But she had already been with him. How could he have so quickly rejected her? Erik was mostly using logic to apply to this situation, but he also knew that deep within him, there was a strong feeling . . . strong emotions toward her. Ones that had caused him to feel what he did when he saw Polaris harmed. He had called it paternal instinct, and he knew that it was impossible to even remotely describe that feeling.
