The first soft lights of morning had not even begun to to shine, though dawn was breaking just enough that the morning was no longer pitch black but a softer mix. The slight weight of Erik held her to the bed while they slept, Her on her belly with her arms tucked up under the pillow to make it less soft, while Erik rested half beside and half over her and one arm around her.
It was in these moments that Magda should have felt safe, but even with Erik's comfort she sometimes had dreams. Tonight's were worse then the others. She was seeing her father die again, her mother. She looked down the dark hole that made the barrel of the gun and then heard the bang of it being fired--only Erik wasn't there to stop it.
Magda jerked softly in the same second that the light bulbs exploded and the radios turned before going so loud the speaks popped, and she let out a muffled scream as she twisted to turn so that her face was burred into Erik's chest and protected. A half second later the speakers went silent, having gone so loud they too popped and died.

While Erik was not a deep sleeper, he was currently sleeping soundly enough. The company he found in Magda provided a strong comfort and he found himself forgetting more and more the reasons that they should be apart. He had not been anywhere near awakening until he heard the blaring sound of the radio suddenly turn on and it caused his eyes to abruptly open. He felt Magda nestle his head against him and he placed his hand on the back of her head in attempt to comfort her from the sudden jolt and shock of what seemed to be the electric wiring of this place go haywire.
He looked at the lights, which were now just shattered bulbs and glanced at the radio which had exploded from the sudden burst of sound. He hadn't even had time to react to use his own powers to lower the sound or pull the plug out of the radio. It had happened far too quickly. Not yet moving from his current position, he closed his eyes once again, though he did not go back to sleep. "Are you alright?" He asked her, for she too had seemed to be startled into awakening due to the spontaneous chaos of sound.

Magda knew her heart was beating so far, and so hard that is was a wonder he could not feel bumping him. Erik had moved to protect her when everything exploded--and Magda had not only felt him do it, but felt herself doing things too. With every moment she spent in Erik's world it was becoming more clear who--or what--she was.
Slowly her breathing slowed, but not her mind. Her hand moved from his chest, to rest on the outside of his arm, keeping him there, like he was holding her. "What happened?" She asked, but knowing it just the same. She had happened. She had done this. Only she wanted to pretend it wasn't her.

She asked what had happened, and Erik was unsure. For it was not his own powers out of whack. While he sometimes lacked control of them when he was extremely angry, now was no such occasion. So there was really only one other explanation. "It must have been a disturbance in the electrical wiring of the room," he told her. "I will speak to management about this." So that they could get another room since there were clearly problems with this one.
He opened his eyes once more, having noticed her slight panic. Most likely from having been awoken so abruptly. "Do not worry," he assured her. "That seems to have been the extent of it." After all, what more could be effected by electricity in here. His hand on the back of her head gently moved to stroke her hair in attempt to further comfort her. "You should go back to sleep," he urged her, for it was still early and while he would need to get started with the day soon enough, he wanted to at least wait until she was at ease once more before he left.

His reasoning seemed ideal, but her heart knew better. She had done this, not some power surge. "There seems to be a few of them here." The lights had blinked earlier when they'd been together. He'd done that to her, made her do it. Not in an evil way, like the man in the camps had done to him, but in a wonderful way. Only she didn't feel wonderful now.
She felt fear.
Her hand shook when she adjusted herself to try and against him. With her face buried into his skin, her lips brushed him when she spoke. "Yes. We should sleep." His comforting gesture almost made her feel safe, but it was herself she was afraid of. There she stayed in his arms until light begin talking the room. Had it been a few minutes or hours? She had no idea of the time that past.
In whatever time that had past, Magda had decided she would not ignore this, but try to see if she was right. Had this been her? Or was it as he said, and a faulty room? Pushing to sit up, Magda got up, and pulled her shirt over her head, before looking back at Erik.

Though Erik knew he should awake from bed, he ended up drifting in and out of sleep for the next little while. That is, until he felt Magda shift from him. He slowly opened his eyes, watching her pull on her shirt. She seemed, unsettled for some reason. For it was usually her who was convincing him to remain in bed for just a little while longer. Her actions however prompted his own, as he too stood from bed. He firstly reached for his pants, pulling them on before going to the washroom.
From there, he took a large towel and then re-entered the room, placing the towel over the small bits of glass that had exploded from the bulb above. That way, neither of them would step on the pieces since he didn't exactly have the proper equipment to clean it up. With that done, he sat at the edge of the bed, silently watching her for a few moments before speaking. "What's wrong?" Because something seemed, different with her. Did she not sleep well? Was she still in a bit of shock over the sound? Was something else going on that he was completely oblivious to?

Magda looked up from her knees, as she had just been staring at them after he had gotten up. Forcing a smile to her lips, she tried to not look as frightened as she felt. "What is the gadjo word for being hunted at night?" When the dreams you had were evil? There was a word for it, and it escaped her now.
"Between them and the lights, and the radio . . . . I find myself unable to find ease this morning. Perhaps I will take a bath this morning, rather then seeking food with you." It was an excuse to be alone, and she feared he would know. "Did I disturb you?" From sleeping more afterwards.

Nightmares. Is that what it was? He could certainly understand those. After what they witnessed in their past, he could most definitely relate to being haunted at night by those terrorizing memories. What gave him even the slightest bit of ease, was his channeling of anger toward Shaw, and his obsession with vengeance. The thought of killing him was what helped calm his mind; not a lot, but it was something at least. "Nightmares," he said, answering her question. She then spoke of all else that seemed to trouble her mind, saying that she would prefer to stay here rather than search for food.
"We should pack up," he told her. While his work was not yet done, perhaps it was best they find another hotel to stay at. For he recalled that this was not the first time something like this had happened. She had mentioned it before. "We will find another hotel to stay at," he told her. While it was not much, it was all he had the power of controlling. For the memories that haunted her at night, were not things he could control -- even if he did want to give her peace of mind. Just as she could not fully grant him the same. "No," he added, answering her question. "I needed to get up." He needed to start the day and not spend its entirety in bed. "You tend to wear me out at night," he said with a teasing accusatory tone of voice, in the hopes of bringing her mind to ease after her troubled night -- and morning.

"Nightmares." She repeated slowly, and very softly. "What a dark word." It sounded as evil as it was. Nightmares. Erik said they should pack and switch buildings but she knew it would not do any good. Still, someplace new would give her a clear place to think. It was with his next words that she finally smiled, "Clearly not enough, you always rise with the sun." A tease in return.
Standing, she moved away from the glass, thankful for the towel he dropped down. Then she moved to her clean clothes, and began dressing so she could pack. "Erik," Turning, Magda looked at him, while tying off her skirt, "How does your powers work?" It was a little random, but she hoped her tone was curiosity rather then anything more. With any luck he would think she was trying to distract herself. "I mean, is it like thinking, or is it like breathing?" Did it just happen as he thought it, or was it more physical?

As he began to pull out a new shirt, he listened to her ask about his powers, questioning how they worked, and whether it required thinking or whether it was as natural as breathing. They had never really discussed the details of his abilities before, so he wondered what had prompted her curiosity. Not that he was unwilling to answer the question. "It is a bit of both," he began to say, pulling on his shirt. "It is second nature but at the same time, can require concentration and focus." He had more control over his powers now than he did before, but he still sometimes lost that if he was in a massive emotional state -- most often anger.
"At the camps, I was unable to control it. It was prompted by anger, fear, and pain." Which was why Shaw had tortured him; to expose those powers. The only reason he was really sharing any of this, was because she knew more about it than anyone else, for she had seen him practically every day. "They had just newly manifested then and I did not know how or what exactly I could do. Not until it was forced out." Not until Shaw had created the monster he was now. His own creation would be what destroyed him. "I will say that I did not do this," he told her with a slight smile, referring to the exploding bulbs and radio. Perhaps that was why she asked, because she had believed this was caused by his powers?

Magda took in his words, and felt her hear break at the memories of the camps, not just for him. There had been many that had been hurt in the name of science. That evil man had done everything to try to understand Erik's gifts, and to force a child to use them. "I will say that I did not do this," Her eyes widened, "No, I didn't think you did! I just . . . I just dreamed of the camps, and . . . " Exploded the room.
Her breathing escalated slightly, and Magda tried to pretend to be calm. "and I was just thinking about it." His powers, the evil there. "Are there others like you? Do you think? Is it something others catch--" Like a cold, "Or is just something you have to born with? Would the others be in danger too? Because that man is still out there." She hated to even speak his name, hated to think it. "If he learned of them, or if he found you, he could hurt them, yes?"

She was asking a series of questions, most of which -- if not all of which -- he did not know the answers to. He had yet to come across someone like him, and until then, he believed that he was alone. Alone to face whatever gifts that had naturally manifested during the most tormenting time of his life. He didn't know what Shaw was currently doing, but he knew what the man was capable of doing. And that was enough to make him want to kill him even more. But it did not explain her sudden interest in his powers, for while he used it rather comfortably around her, they had not held complex discussions about it or their origin. He looked at her, curious as to what sparked the sudden inquiries. And, she almost sounded concerned when asking them.
He moved closer to her, aware that he did not answer any of her questions, but rather, returned one of his own. "Why all of the sudden curiosity, Magda?" He asked, not making it sound like a bad thing necessarily. Had this truly just been brought forth by a nightmare? He knew the power that such dark dreams could have, but still. "I do not think you have to worry about my ability being contagious, or being endangered because of Shaw." He didn't even know if there were others like him but she of all people did not need to be worried about that. But whatever had sparked her questions, he wanted to help her put it out. He placed a hand on her cheek, a further attempt to comfort her. "So put your mind at ease," he added as more of a reassuring comfort, than any sort of demand or harshly spoken words.

Magda lifted her hand to rest over his, and she closed her eyes for a moment. "The lifts are always there when I want them to be, Erik." It had almost always happened, she never had to wait. "I went turn the radio yesterday and before I could touch it the channel changed." Again she had told herself it was just a loose knob or something. "I had a nightmare and everything in the room exploded." Her hand tightened over his, and Magda forced her gaze to look up into his face, so he could see how much she believe this.
She did believe it, because she felt it. Felt the surge of something in her that reached out. Felt her body know what would happen seconds before it happened. Magda did not know what it was or how to control it, or even how to make it happen. She only knew that something was happening to her. "Erik, I think I did this." And it frightened her. Because she had seen what happened to Erik as a child, and knew the risks he took of going out into the world every day. She dind't want to be hunted. She didn't want to be afraid. "I do not know what is happening to me."

She moved her hand to rest over his and he watched her as intently as he listened to her. She began to describe instances that sounded oddly familiar. Because it was what had happened to him as a child. Not the exact same occurrences, but incidents that were impossible to explain. Things that happened that were out of his control. Things that he couldn't believe were happening, but unable to deny for he had seen them with his own eyes. He could hear the tension in her voice and feel it with the way her way her hand tightened on his. And he had no words, for he was absorbing what she was telling him. He had thought he was alone all this time, and yet she was telling him of a possibility that he felt far too dangerous to hope for.
He couldn't believe it. Not until he was sure. For he feared the disappointment would be too great. So all he could do was remain silent and calm, and very carefully think over her words. She believed she did this. He tried to piece together all she had told him, never having had thought of it before but then again, this was the first time she had voiced this to him. So something had convinced her. She felt it strong enough to tell him of it. And . . . he had to be sure he was fully understanding what she was saying. "Magda, consider what you are saying," he began to tell her. The impact of her words. The magnitude of them. "Are you suggesting that you have, abilities like mine?" Could she also control metal? Or was it something entirely different? Suddenly, questions started flooding his mind and he knew that she had no more answers than he did. But that did not mean he wasn't desperate to know.

"Magda, consider what you are saying," She had, for days now. Even if she only began to really believe. Last night had confirmed it to her mind, been the proof that her own mind could not ignore. "Are you suggesting that you have, abilities like mine?" "I am not suggesting. I am telling you that I have abilities . . . but not like yours." She could not make his pants come to her. Or perhaps she could, but she'd never tried. "Or I might, I don't know. I only know the others."
Moving she gripped his hand tightly and pulled him toward the window. Once there she looked down at the street lamp below, which was off now that the sun was waking the city. Holding out her shaking hand, she tired to make it happen again. She could feel it. Feel herself making the lamp break it's commands and begin asking to power. The light came on, but then quickly turned brighter and brighten until it burst raining bits of glass of gasping people below.
Jerking her hand back, she pulled her other hand from Erik as well. Stepping backwards until her back touched the wall she pulled her hands closer to to her, as if it would make sure nothing else exploded. Turning her eyes up to his, Magda watched him, and pleaded with her eyes for him to say something to make this better. "Erik?" What did this mean? What was happening to her?

She was not suggesting anything. She was telling him that she had abilities. It was no longer a form of denial for her. She knew. She was aware that she possessed powers that could not be explained. Or apparently controlled. So he thought. She stated her powers were not like his and then led him over to the window. He joined her in looking down on the street and when she extended her hand, the light came on. It caused his eyes to ever so slightly widen at the sight. She had abilities. There was no doubt in her, and her confidence in this was all the conviction he needed. She had powers. She was like him. How to define said powers still had yet to be determined, but he had a feeling that they could figure it out once they really talked about it. His eyes remained on the lamppost as it shone brighter and brighter, and then exploded. He continued to stare, even when she stepped backwards until she was against the wall.
Even when she spoke his name, it took him several moments before he looked at her. She looked frightened; terrified in fact. He was unsure what expression was on his own face as he approached her. He raised his hands to her cheeks and leaned forward, kissing her with an excitement that he had never embraced her with before. Even when they were reunited, there had been a mix of other emotions. But this . . . this kiss was filled with a strong thrill and joy. Eventually he pulled away, keeping his hands on her cheeks as his lips curved into a smile. "This is remarkable, Magda," he exclaimed, his tone reflecting the same emotions that were in his kiss. Happiness. "Absolutely remarkable!" And with that, he kissed her again, unable to contain his excitement in this moment.

Erik watched the lamp, before looking at her and walking forward. Magda had never seen that expression on his face. It wasn't one of fear, or confusion. It was . . . . almost pleased? She was on edge of panic and he was pleased? Erik framed her face, and kissed her. She gasped against his lips, taking in comfort at first. "This is remarkable, Magda," Was it? "Absolutely remarkable!" Then he kissed her again. Magda lifted her hands to his arms, and let the kiss linger for a moment; if only to take what strength she could from him. His presence alone gave her comfort, and strength; but she was still frightened.
Turning her face tot he side in order to break the kiss, Magda sucked in air before speaking breathlessly. "I dose not feel remarkable." She looked up at him, "Everything is exploding around me! I am afraid of touching anything electronic! I have a nightmare and everything shatters. Erik, what if I am a danger to you? To others? I don't understand what is happen to me, or how to stop it, or control it!" He was pleased but she was trying to figure out what to do next. She was glad he was holding her, and her hands fisted in the shirt shelves. "That is why I was asking you about your abilities. I was trying to understand. I've thought this before but I was too afraid tell you. I didn't understand it." Not that he would be mad, but she didn't want to admit it to herself.
"I don't know what too do now."

She expressed her concern, stating that it did not feel remarkable. That she feared harming others, including himself. He did not think she would. No. In fact, he knew she would not. "Do you believe that I would harm you with my powers?" He asked, somewhat rhetorically. She had always told him that she never feared him. So how could she consider the fact that he would ever fear her? "You have never been afraid of what I can do. So why should I be afraid of your own capabilities?" He asked. He felt a slight guilt basking in his selfish joy of discovering that someone else was like him . . . and that someone else, was Magda. Of all people. It seemed that fate truly had brought them together, and it felt incredible. He was not alone. While with her, he had not felt it, but this bonded them on an entirely new level; a new magnitude that he had never thought possible.
"We will find a way to control it," he told her. So that she would not be afraid of things happening around her that she could not stop, though knew that she started. "I have learned to control my abilities, we will do the same for you." Words to give her hope, that if he could do it, then so could she. As well as giving her hope in his use of the words 'we'. For they were together in this. She had helped him through his torture at the camps; giving him a will to live and to fight through the seemingly endless pain. He could help her now, find out more about her capabilities and see how they could control it; how they could keep it to a degree that she felt comfortable with. He was so very excited about this! "We will figure this out, together," he added, further reenforcement that they were in fact, a teAM. The excitement of this news had even temporarily numbed his hatred for Shaw. For the first time in so long, he felt genuine joy.

"Do you believe that I would harm you with my powers?" Her answer was an instant, "No!" "You have never been afraid of what I can do. So why should I be afraid of your own capabilities?" "Because you have control, Erik, and I have none." "We will find a way to control it," He promised, "I have learned to control my abilities, we will do the same for you." He sounded so sure, and strong. As if there was no doubt in his mind. It was what gave her strength, what made her believe.
"We will figure this out, together," "Together," She echoed the promise, looking up into his face, and trying to keep the trimmer from her voice. They would do this together. She had always been afraid that when it came to picking her over his cause that because she was human he would never pick her. Yet she wondered now . . . where did she stand.
"Erik," I love you. She almost said. I need you. Stay with me. Never leave me. Be with me. So many 3 worded things she wanted to tell him. So very many. "You're not alone." She said instead. "And nor am I." He had assumed he was the only one like him, but she was proof he was not. "And we will do this together."
