Character Basics .:Name of Character:. Erik Lehnsherr .:Species:. Mutant .:Alias:. Magneto .:Affiliation:. The Brotherhood
Appearance
.:Physical Appearance:. Magneto has a very strong presence about him, carrying himself incredibly well and composed. He stands tall with some build. Depending on when you meet him, he either has brown hair or grey. He has blue eyes, behind which is a great deal of wisdom and knowledge. He has the number "24005" tattooed on his forearm; a symbol of his time spent in a concentration camp. His attire is that of a sophisticated and refined man, often clad in a top hat and well tailored clothing.
His uniform as Magneto involves a cape, helmet, gloves, boots, a belt, sometimes a bit of padding, and a shirt and pants. The cape is either red or gray with a red inside. His helmet is red and/or gray as well (used to prevent any telepathic or non physical abilities to influence his actions). His clothing is of dark and neutral colors, mainly black and gray. As previously stated he has a strong presence about him and walks with confidence and poise. .:Height:. 6" .:Portrayed by:. Michael Fassbender | Sir Ian McKellen
Personality
.:Personality:. Magneto is a man of great and genius intellect. He is well versed in worldly knowledge and this is apparent in the way he speaks. He is multilingual, fluent in English, German, French, and Spanish, (just to name a few of the languages he can speak). He is an expert strategist, able to plan elaborate plots and use the resources he has to be successful. He is also an excellent tactician and skilled leader. He has an incredibly strong charm and charisma to him, and is a very well spoken individual. He is able to command a room and the attention of others with the way he delivers his speeches and even in casual conversations with others. If there is one thing he is not, is a liar. He consistently tells the truth, no matter how blunt or hard it is to hear. This is in part, what allows his fellow Brotherhood mutants to bestow their trust and loyalty in him.
He is very task orientated, and usually won't stop until his plan is fully carried out, or he is forcibly stopped. He strives to protect mutants and believes the only way to do this is for mutants to dominate the world. Because of this mentality, he cares and values homo sapiens very little and is willing to destroy them if it means mutants are no longer threatened by them. In the past he had worked to protect other mutants, yet as the years went by, he learned that sometimes, one has to sacrifice the lives of a few mutants for the good of all the mutants. He also has a certain arrogance to him, not often willing to admit when he is wrong or when his plan is doomed for failure. He disregards it and is stubborn in his views and actions.
He truly believes in his cause, and that homo sapiens will continue to destroy mutants unless they destroy -- what he believes -- is the inferior race. Magneto is one of the most infamous mutants, and most feared by humans. His name is known to those in both worlds, homo sapiens and mutants, as an extremely powerful mutant. His reputation often precedes him, and one either disagrees with his views, or wishes to join him to fight for a world of mutant domination. .:Powers/Abilities:.
Magnetokinesis The ability to control all forms of magnetism. He uses this control of magnetism to manipulate metals and this creates a variety of affects. He is able to lift extremely large things (i.e. stadiums, bridges, etc) as well as very small and quick things (i.e. metal inside a person's blood, bullets, etc). He is very focused and concentrated and has excellent control on what he moves. He can also fly by gliding on the Earth's EM field. Magento is often creative with his uses of power and over the years with the necessary practice, controlling the magnetism, and thus metals, around him is effortless.
Magneto is also skilled in combat and tracking, training other mutants who have joined the Brotherhood. .:Weaknesses:. - In the very early stages of his life, his power was extremely draining for him and he was unable to control large piece of metal and things that were at a great distance. As well, his power is dependent on his physical condition, if he injured or ill, it can hinder his ability to use his powers.
- He has become dependent on his mutant abilities, which means that if he is in an environment with no metal, then he is powerless.
- Magneto's emotions can get the better of him. Before being able to hone in on his skills, his powers were triggered beyond control sometimes when he was enraged. He has learned to channel his emotions but there are still extreme cases where his emotions get the better of him (particularly ones of pain and anger).
History
.:Birthplace:. Poland .:Family:.
- Jakob Lehnsherr | Father
- Edie Lehnsherr | Mother
- Magda Eisenhardt | Wife
- Nina | Daughter
- Lorna Dane | Daughter
- Peter Maximoff | Son
.:Occupation:. Leader of the Brotherhood & Freedom Fighter .:Current Location of Residence:. Unknown .:History:. Erik was born as the only child, to Edie and Jakob in Poland. They were a middle class, Jewish family and had a simple and humble life. His father was a shop owner so Erik enjoyed helping him there, along with his mom. They were a typical, happy, family with nothing overly exceptional about them. That is, until Erik began to realize that he was different. When he was about ten, he realized that he was able to do things; things that were impossible. Things that he couldn't explain, nor control. When he grew extremely angry, he was able to move and/or destroy the things around him. His father was not aware of this, however his mother witnessed it herself one time. She was shocked, but not frightened. She still loved her son and while it only happened once, it created a certain bond between her and Erik. He felt that he could trust her, for she accepted him despite whatever this was inexplicable and inhuman ability was. Due to it's one time occurrence, Erik thought nothing of it and it was soon pushed to the back of his mind.
Unfortunately, there was far more that the family would have to deal with. The war broke out, and those families who were Jewish were gathered and sent to concentration camps at Auschwitz. The Lehnsherr family was no exception. They were rounded up and forced to enter what they knew would produce a devastating aftermath. Erik was still young, so wasn't entirely certain he knew what was going on. It wasn't until he was separated from his mother, that he strongly reacted. Pulled from his parents, and forced on the other side of the fence, he fought and fought to be reunited with her. The agony of being parted and the fear of never seeing her or his father again, caused his 'powers' to resurface. He wasn't even sure he was aware of what he was doing. He was a desperate young boy, driven by the need to see his parents. It took multiple guards to hold him back and all the while, with his hand extended, the metal fence began to move, pulling him closer to it as it bent at his will. Before he was able to be successful, one of the guards knocked him out, causing him to fall unconsciously to the floor.
Not too long after his arrival in the camp, he was summoned to Dr. Klaus Schimdt, who had heard about his ability from the guards who had restrained Erik. He attempted to draw Erik's powers out, offering him a chocolate bar for a reward, but Erik was unsuccessful in his appointed task of moving a coin. Schimdt then gave Erik a far greater incentive, bringing his mother in and saying that if he did not move the coin after he counted to 3, then he would shoot her. Erik tried, and tried, the fear of losing his mother consuming his entire being, but once again, it was to no avail, and his mother was murdered in front of him. This, elicited the desired response. The rage and devastation over losing his mother caused him to destroy the adjoining room, and kill the guards that had brought her in. Schmidt (aka Shaw) realized that this was the key to draw out his power. Following this, he tortured Erik to force his ability out through the anger, pain, and agony that the boy felt. Erik endured this torture repeatedly on a daily basis. Though the camps were segregated based on sex, one young female prisoner would bring his food while he was held captive. Her name was Magda, and she was Romani, brought to the camp because of her culture and religion. The two of them formed a bond, as he only found solace when talking to her, and in an inexplicable way, she became his strength.
When the war ended, chaos ensued in the camp. Erik was held prisoner separately from the rest, but he saw this as his opening to escape. He broke free from his room, and rushed to the window to see what was happening. The first thing he saw, was a line up of female children, each being shot one by one by the Nazis. Erik recognized one of them immediately: Magda. Still not having full control over his powers, the anger over seeing a gun pointed at her head was enough. He cried out in anger, causing the guns to be ripped from the soldiers' hands and dismantled. Magda looked up at him as Erik looked at her. The two shared this silent goodbye before she was pulled away by a few of the other prisoners who were making their escape. When Erik eventually made his own escape from the camp, he left and sought out a new mission: to kill Dr. Klaus Schimdt.
Consumed with the thought of vengeance, Erik worked on controlling his abilities. He was able to do small things with it, however he didn't have the proper training that would eventually lead to him using it to his full potential. It wasn't until he met Charles Xavier that he had found a friend, and someone who was like him and able to help him. Charles understanding of genetics and the mutant genes, enabled him to properly train Erik, and encourage him to find that place between serenity and rage so that he could control his powers. When Erik did, that was when he was able to move his abilities to the next level, and continue to build and perfect his powers. This was only the beginning of his new life and newfound capabilities. His cause was to protect other mutants from what he believed would be a mutant Holocaust. The only way to achieve this, was through mutant domination, thus the inevitable destruction of homo sapiens. Erik became Magneto and over time, would build a reputation as one of the most powerful and well known mutants in the world.
