This was it. Taryn had met another mutant in Corin, and had been opened up to a whole new world, one where she wasn't alone anymore. All those years after discovering her powers and the trauma that caused, thinking that she couldn't be the only one and now, now she had proof. And was about to get a whole lot more. Corin had given her an address and a name, the opportunity she needed to meet with the Brotherhood she had heard about before even coming over to America. Erik - Magneto as he also seems to go by - seems to have a been a friend Cor's, and so now Taryn would aim to be the same.
So here she was, in the headquarters of the Brotherhood, waiting to meet up with the leader himself. She wondered what he'd be like, tall she imagined, enigmatic, charismatic, everything you'd expect a good leader to be like. Of course she was being a bit quick and figured that regardless of how she thought he would be he more than likely wouldn't. Taryn was fine with that though, he obviously had what it took to head up and band together such a diverse group of people.
Then all of a sudden he was there. Tall, like she thought, a little rougher around the edges than Corin, but still a very good looking man. Definitely older than her, but she was only 21 so that would make sense. 'You must be Erik, I take it? Glad to finally meet you, Corin spoke very highly of you. Certainly a nice place you've got here, lots of good people by the looks of it.' She gave a smile and offered her hand. Gotta make a good impression with these kinds of people.

Erik, or Magneto rather, was slowly building the Brotherhood. It was a name he had created to demonstrate the unity of mutants; to show their loyalty to one another. They were kin, of the same race so the Brotherhood had seemed fitting; for they were all brothers -- and perhaps sister if one wanted to become technical. Today, they would be expecting a new addition. Whether she would come for she shared their views, or come due to curiosity, it made no difference. What exposure he could provide for mutants was the main purpose. It was not often that mutants were handed the address to the Brotherhood headquarters either. But because Corin had vouched for her, Magneto made this exception, though he was clear about the necessity of keeping this location secret. It was to protect the others; to ensure that they did not fall under the captivity of an oppressive society. While their headquarters would have to change every now and then, their current accommodations were rather comfortable. He had taken over one of Shaw's estates, able to find the location thanks to the aid of those who had previously been aligned with Shaw, and now were part of the Brotherhood. It was large, capacious, and well suited for their needs. Having been told that someone was approaching, Magneto immediately rose from his seat and made his way to the front doors.
He was not in uniform at the moment. He was clad in more casual attire, though having a sense of pride in his appearance, he often wore well tailored clothing. It gave him a certain, sophistication. His uniform was reserved for more public statements, and right now, there was no need for that. Stepping outside his eyes rested on the image of a young woman. Young. Attractive. Could not be much older than 20. A slight smile formed on his laps as she readily made her introduction, extending her hand in greeting. "It is an immense pleasure," he responded sincerely as he took her hand in his and gave it a proper shake out of formality. It was always a pleasure to meet a fellow mutant and she was certainly no exception. "And we are growing still. Yet with exceptional individuals such as yourself, I tend to appreciate the value of quality over quantity," he told her. He may not yet know the details of her gift, but he had already commenced in praising it. Any gift that a mutant possessed was remarkable. It was just a matter of how they used it and what they used it for. Which was another promise he often made to those he brought here; the promise of helping them hone their gifts. To use it to their full potential. "Have you brought any of your belongings with you, or do you intend to stay only for the day?" He would never force a mutant to stay here against their will, it defeated the purpose. But his words were his offer to help her take her things to the room that had been prepared for her, should she wish to stay for some time.

He really was quite enigmatic this Erik guy. Very tall. Very pretty. She'd still rather have Corin any day, but she probably wouldn't say no in a hurry. He also had a very good handshake and the way he spoke about what he was doing with the Brotherhood gave her the impression he was a very intelligent man. Taryn thought that his comment about quality over quantity seemed a little off, given that this whole Brotherhood thing was surely about grouping together and uniting mutants but she brushed it off.
As they were conversing and she began to feel more comfortable, Taryn took the time to look around the large building in which the Headquarters were currently housed. It was rather grand, clearly a full estate. Which lead her to wonder where this man got the money for such a place. Maybe he was born into a wealthy family like she was, or maybe he earned it. Though for something of this size he'd have to be amazing at whatever it was he did for a career. Unless of course he stole it. It suddenly dawned on Taryn that he really didn't know much about this guy, apart from what Corin had told her. And that was very little. Suddenly his question as to whether or not she would be staying seemed a little daunting. But there were others here, she would be fine.
'If it's all the same to you, I'd like to stay, probably just for a few days. I came here to meet other mutants like us, and the longer I can stay the better an idea I think I'll get of what people like us can do.' And god was she excited to be here and doing this. So many mutants here, there would be no way she could find out enough about them in just the one day. Taryn was sure she could learn from so many of them, and maybe even teach them a thing or two, it would be a learning experience for everyone. Providing she didnt go around accidentally suppressing people's powers as soon as she found them out.

Taryn stated that she would like to remain for a few days. Which was quite alright with Magneto. Most those who were newly here came out of the intrigue and fascination of meeting other mutants. It was how he had enticed Corin to come after all; with the promise of giving answers and helping him realize his potential. Although the mutant had seemed to have a fairly excellent grasp on his powers. He wondered if Taryn was the same way or if she would need a little bit of guidance. Regardless, now was not the time for such a conversation. Social convention did dictate that he get to know her before having her show him what she could do. It was not as if this was some sort of secret club that required the initiation of 'show me your power'. He gave a small nod, slowly turning toward the door and motioning with his hand for her move next to him so they could walk alongside each other into the house.
"We have a few mutants here with us," he told her, knowing she would meet them and get better acquainted with them. "However, what they can do is merely a small fraction of the entire mutant population's capabilities." Meaning, there were many more mutants out there with a diverse range of powers. This is where came in the words of his value of quality. While numbers were indeed important, it was also about the mutant themselves. Magneto truly believed that a single mutant was stronger than any human, regardless of the mutant's power. However, those who were part of the Brotherhood were not only part of it because they were mutants. They were part of it because they wanted to fight for mutant rights. They wanted to perfect their skills so that they could use it for a higher purpose. These were the kind of mutants he wished to be aligned with and guide toward and fight alongside with to achieve their common goal: freedom from persecution.
While he would not force anyone to stay, it was his ultimate objective to show them how they could become freedom fighters for their oppressed race. But again, now was not the time to engage in a complex political discussion. It was their first meeting after all. Thus far however, his impression of Taryn was a positive one. She was young, but well spoken. Polite, and curious enough to reside in an unfamiliar place for a few days. And she of course held an exquisite beauty. It wasn't just about the facial features. By a human standard, Taryn was indeed attractive. But as a mutant, she held a strength; one that could only ever be held by a mutant. And that was far more attractive than simply just generic features that qualified beauty. So far, he did quite like her. And was eager to learn more about her and her powers. "Have you met any other mutants, apart from Corin and now myself?" He asked with a bit of a smile.
