Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He softly smiled at her words, feeling the exact same way. It had been beautiful. She was beautiful. Everything about this moment. The serenity of it. He let their positions linger for a few more moments, before feeling the exhaustion start to take over from their vigorous activities. Activities that they had not done for quite some time . . . and had already started to make up for.
Giving her another light kiss he turned to his side, finally pulling out of her, and moved one arm to wrap around her. Holding her close to him. He did not plan on leaving tonight; the thought had not even crossed his mind. Before, it had to be questioned. Uncertainty filling the air. But now . . . it was as if there wasn't a doubt in either of them. He loved seeing her smile. He loved feeling her next to him. He wanted her to be the first sight he lay his eyes upon when he woke up in the morning. He could feel his lids growing heavier, his body relaxing more and more. Perhaps they would feel it in the morning, but right now, he felt only serenity. For the first time, after a long time.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onIt didn't take Magda long to fall asleep tucked into her husband's side. For the warmth of his body to bring her into a safe sleep with happy dreams. For the first night in what could be years, she slept with ease, and feeling like her life was returning to her. The feeling carried over to her dreams, and eventually to the morning.
As her mind began leaving the dream land, and returning to the real world, she realized two very important things--the first was that she was sore. Really sore, but in all the best ways. The next, was that her husband's deep breathing suggested he was still sleeping next to her. Something that hadn't happened since the night before the men had taken him away. It was enough that she held very still so not to wake him in this moment, and instead just lay there and bask int he moment. The sounds of his deepened breaths, and the feel of the heat from his body warming her in the cool morning air.
Perfection.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION This was the first time in years that Erik slept. Actually slept. A peaceful slumber, untainted by nightmares or haunting images. Feeling completely at peace. Rested. Which was exactly how he awoke. The natural pull back into the conscious world, instead of a jolt or abrupt awakening from deeper pain and torment. He felt no such thing this morning. Knowing, that a great deal of it had to do with the woman against his body. The one he held in his arms.
The one . . . who also seemed to be awake. He just looked at her, thinking of last night. Of all that had happened. Of how they had reconnected. And . . . his powers. That was not far from his mind at all. And the conversation would have to come. But right now, he just wanted to enjoy these peaceful moments that had been too rare and few. "Good morning," he said, the words soft, and seemingly so simple. Yet, they weren't. It had been years since he'd greeted her this way after such an . . . active night. Yet, it came with ease. After so long, this came with such incredible ease.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onMagda felt him slowly waking up, and she hoped that the mood of last night would pull him into a good morning. Erik looked down at her and spoke softly. The words were simple ones, yet she could see in face that today would be a good day and her smile lit up her face! "Yes it is," she agreed, thinking that it would be a good morning indeed. She looked toward the window and knew Nina wouldn't be awake for a while yet as they had woke up very early.
She needed to clean the study and make them some food before Nina woke up. Magda also wanted to talk about last night--not the wonderful part, but the part she didn't understand. Yet first she wanted a kiss. Moving up she softly kissed him, before pulling slightly away to rest her chin lightly on his chest. "I'm going to make something to eat. Will you join me?" He needed to eat more. It was one of the harder parts of this, not being able to make sure he was eating well. Food was something desperately important to her. It was her way of living life and taking care of people when they were hurting.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He closed his eyes, embracing the kiss, soaking in it as a wonderful way to start the day. When she broke it, he slowly opened his eyes and looked at her, his lips curving a little into a smile. "Yes," he said softly, raising a hand to brush back a strand of her hair from her cheek. He actually felt hungry, which was something else that wasn't exactly frequent.
His state had stilled many things, including hunger as it came fleetingly, rather than consistently. But this morning . . . he felt it. Perhaps it was after all they had done last night, and how it had clearly worked up an appetite. It had been years since he'd been so active. "Last night worked up an appetite," he said lightly, teasingly. How good it felt to fall back into the same lighthearted remarks they were once used to. The return of his abilities changing his state of mind to a less . . . dark and distant one. There was hope and he wanted to embrace that with his wife.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onHe note only agreed but went as far as to tease her! Magda smiled brightly and hide her face for a second against his chest, before looking back up at him. "I feel the same." She told him, but added on her own teasing comment. "I fear the walk to the kitchen will be a long one." Because she was sore from the sudden but wonderful events last night.
Simple movements, such as how he moved her hair back from her face, were ones that she treasured. She had loved it when he did it before, and after so long without it, they felt even more special now. She had always thought how special it was that a man like Erik loved her. She had never stopped feeling that way, but this morning--she was so grateful for it. After she kissed his chest, she finally began moving out of bed. Time for cook for her husband--something she was exited to do!

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION His light smile remained as she said she felt the same . . . that the walk to the kitchen would be a long one. While he never wanted to cause her any pain, he knew that this was something good. Last night, had been incredible and he was looking forward to the promising future it held for them. He felt the warmth of her kiss upon his chest before watching her get out of bed. He looked at the scattered clothing, tempted to try and use his abilities to bring his pants to him. But . . . feared the disappointment that he wouldn't be able to.
He full well knew he hadn't the same control over it as he did before. It would perhaps take time. Erik had spent a decade in a prison . . . he knew a thing or two about patience. As long as there was -- dare he say -- hope. Quietly, he too got out of bed, getting his more comfortable pants on and a shirt to pull over it. "It reminds me of our wedding night," he said with a small smile. The celebration of their union, and the inability to keep their hands off of each other that came with it. The way they woke up with the aftermath of the vigor of their activities, yet it hadn't stopped them from enjoying the morning in each other's company. The fact that they were able to find that again . . . yes. It was most certainly hope for their future.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onThey reminded him of their wedding night. It was such simple words but the impact they had on her heart was like an Erikquake that shook her. Madga pulled on her pants, one of her favorites that had metal beads that ran down the sides. Then pulled on one of Erik's shirts from a drawer.
She knew it would hurt when he had another hard day but, this morning gave her so much hope. "Oh?" She said, pretending to think. "I am trying to remember that one. Which night was that? What did we do?" It was a tease, one like she would have made if nothing was wrong. Teasing him that she didn't remember one of the most impact nights of her life. Even as she said the words, she had almost failed in keeping her smile off her lips.
"Maybe you need to remind me." A challenge. But not an easy one. Especially since she was both hungry and sore and . . . and wanting him. Stepping back into the hall she quickened her pace to hurry toward the kitchen. She knew he might not give chance but even if he didn't then leaving him without chance to retort was enough!

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION The light smile remained on his lips as she teased him, asking what they had done on their wedding night. The question really . . . was what hadn't they done. Before he could answer or offer any remark in return, she hurried out of the room and his smile grew a bit as he watched her. He had not failed to notice her attire, and how he was once able to sense the metal so well. Now, it was just flickers but . . . it was there. It was more than it had been in a year. He looked around the room and began to pick up the clothing, neatly folding it and putting it away.
The time before he was taken, he had been very -- overly -- meticulous when it came to cleaning and organization. Since his return, he had not been. A loss of control and so the mess had not bothered him. Though he didn't overly think it, he knew that picking things up now . . . returned him to the former state of who he was. Of having that control back in his life. It was a start. Once the things were put away, he went to check on Nina, carefully pushing the door open just a little bit more, seeing she was still sleeping soundly. He then made his way downstairs to join Magda in the kitchen. "We need to talk about last night," he said as casually as he could, but there was a seriousness to his voice. With Nina still sleeping, and with his returning powers . . . he needed to have this conversation with Magda, sooner rather than later.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onHe didn't chase her but it did nothing to hinder her good mood. Magda pulled some eggs from the cooler and put them on the counter before pulling out some potatoes and beginning to peal and cut them for hasbrowns. She was humming lightly an old folk song when she head him walk in behind her. It wasn't until he spoke that she turned to look at him. She pushed the potatoes back, and turned to face him, resting her back on the counter, and her hands resting there. Magda had her full attention on him, and nodded.
She had planned to let him bring it up and thankfully he did. "And the other night." Adding the words on let him know that she knew what he wanted to talk about, that she had been waiting for him to bring it up and explain what he was thinking. She didn't know what to think, or what was happening but it was clear that something was happening. That Erik clearly knew about it since he was not worried about it.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She turned to face him, giving him her undivided attention. They both knew the seriousness of this conversation. The inevitable one but . . . it was far easier to have than so many others in the past year. This one, actually held an air of good news. Not bothering to build up the revelation or ease into it, Erik did as he always did: was very direct.
"My powers are returning." There it was. The very thing he had tried to force out in the first few weeks of his return. The truth of them being permanently gone something he had severely struggled with. And now . . . his reveal that they were returning. "I wouldn't say this unless I knew for sure," he added on. It was the only logical explanation for the items moving in the room. But he also wanted Magda to know that he wasn't delusional nor going on false hope. "I can feel it." He could feel the metal around him. Could feel the pull it had, the force of it. So very different from the nothingness he'd experienced this past year, and the years spent in the facility.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onHis powers were coming back. Magda's eyes lowered to his hands. She had learned that his powers didn't really come from "magikal hands" like she had thought before, but it still seemed the source of his power so that was where her eyes was looking. Was he sure? Erik said he was sure. How did he know? He could fell it, he told her. Erik seemed to know everything she would said, and instead just said it.
His powers were coming back. She wanted this hope for him so much, but she was afraid that if this didn't work then he would get worse. She wasn't sure she could go back to loosing her husband like that after he had just began coming back to her. Just began? Was that the change in him? She had thought it them, but now she wondered if he was finding himself instead. Looking up to his face she tried to think of something beyond Erik's voice echoing in her head. His powers were coming back! It was something that she wanted and prayed for, and now that it was here . . .
She worried that if it wasn't true that she would loose him for good. "You've known this since the other night?" She asked, clearly in shock, and trying to adjust to this. Had he known and not told her? Magda walked up closer to him and rested her hand in his, looking back at his hands before returning to his face. "Are you alright?" Was he feeling alright? Did he feel like she did and was afraid too?

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She was shocked. And, he hardly blamed her. It was indeed a shock after having come to terms and accepted the fact that his powers would never return. Yet now, here he was . . . telling her the very opposite. That they were coming back. She asked him if he had known this since the other night and he promptly answered. "No," he told her truthfully. With how open he had been with her in the past, and how long it had taken him in the time he returned to tell her about what had happened . . . this was something he could confidently say he'd not kept from her.
"I hadn't known. Not for certain. I did not even, dare think it was possible." Because he knew that he couldn't survive . . . that they couldn't survive another disappointment such as that. "It was only last night that I felt it." When they had been making love. The objects moving, though he had no solid control over it. As she moved closer, she asked him if he was alright and . . . he just looked at her, the question reflective of her caring nature.
"Are you?" He asked softly, an almost tease had the conversation not been so serious. But, he knew it was only fair to answer her question rather than respond to it with another. "I'm wondering how this is possible." How after so long, after all the ways they tried to draw out his power . . . it had been his wife, his family that had been able to do so. Charles' words ringing clear in his mind. "But gladly embrace it." Because regaining his power meant regaining his identity.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onNot for certain. She could understand the fear of wanting something but afraid it was too good to be true. She felt it now as she was trying to find the hope that his powers were back, and the fear that he might fall deeper into himself should this not be something that last. She knew how important this was to his sense of self, and she wanted this for him--but feared loosing him if he lost it again.
"You feel it?" She asked, trying to embrace the hope, even though it was hard. Lifting his hand that she held to hold him to her chest, the back of his hand resting on her heart while her two hands held his fingers and palm. "You're controlling it again?" Which meant, "Their poison didn't work." At least not as long as they hoped. If he was healing from this then that meant any others could as well.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik knew it was a difficult thing to understand, just as it was difficult to explain. How he could sense metal. How he could feel the magnetism. How he was able to pull it out from places where he didn't even have to see it. "Not quite," he answered, though wasn't overly disappointed by this fact. It reminded him of his early years in life, where he was trying to control his abilities and it was the rage that had brought it out.
It started small, but the camps had been what really made it come out in ways he'd not thought possible. This however, was different. With the knowledge he had, the training he had already undergone . . . he surely would be able to train himself more quickly and efficiently so that he could regain full control of his abilities. "I don't yet have the same control I had before." Yes, being the operative word. "But it's a start. This, is a start." He glanced at his hand pressed against her chest before meeting her gaze once more. A hand that he thought to be useless for so long, until now.
Where he could once again utilize it with his mutant powers. "No, it did not." And it felt damn good to know that even after their multiple syringes and repeated torturous acts inflicted upon him . . . they had still not won. And Magneto would be sure they knew that. But, all in good time. "One's mutants abilities are stronger than anything they can create." And this, was clear proof of that. It did however make him wonder, how many more people they had used this on. How many more people had suffered at their hands.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onHe didn't have the same control, but she knew he'd worked at it. The change in him was so much, so fast, and she wanted it to last. So, she was honest with her husband as she always was. "Part of me wants this more then anything, for you and for anyone else this poison had touched. I want to see you happier with yourself. I want them to come back so you have your whole self returned to you . . . . " she told him, "and part of me is afraid this isn't real." That this was just something different.
Being honest with him was hard, but she knew he'd understand. She couldn't imagine what he was feeling right now. To have this hope and he had to also feel this fear that it could go away. "You have always been stronger then anyone thought you were," Magda said in reply to this comment on mutant abilities being stronger then their poison. She kept holding his hand to her, while looking up at his face. Moving to kiss his fingers she let him go, and rested one of her hands on his chest.
"What do you need, Erik?" She asked, wanting to be supportive of him, and not knowing what would happen next. She didn't want him to leave, but she knew his friend Charles had helped him once before. Lifting her hand from his chest she touched his cheek. She loved him so much. Stretching up a little Magda kissed his lips. She felt as if she wasn't be supportive by jumping for joy but after this last year, and the two years before that---she was afraid she'd loose him a third time. She couldn't bare it. Breaking the kiss, she looked up at him, and finally smiled. His kisses always had given her more.
But you will be safe in my arms

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Yes. He wanted this too, knowing the way it had affected his family. A family once happy, so full of love . . . now left to deal with the aftermath of such horrific actions. It made Erik wonder just how many others were suffering in this way too. But right now, his priority was his own family: Magda and Nina. She told him that she was afraid that this wasn't real, and he could most certainly understand that. The first night that the signs had appeared, he had not dared to even consider it possible. But, he knew it. He could feel it.
"I have never to you before, Magda," he told her, looking into her eyes. "So trust me when I say, this is real. I wouldn't even dare breathe a word of it if it wasn't." His own acknowledgement of the repercussions should this not be the case. Of course he was afraid that his powers may not be what they once were. But, all he could do right now was train and work to realize his potential. He gave a slight smile at her words of him being stronger than anyone thought he was. Strength that he had derived from her in so many instances.
He closed his eyes as she kissed him, basking in the sensation before she pulled away and he opened his eyes, prepared to answer her question. "You have given me time and your patience this far," he told her softly. "I still need both." Time. Patience. She had been more than patient with him, but he selfishly would ask for more of it still. Only this time, it was with a renewed hope. "If you can give that to me," he requested, not demanded.

Clouds will race in, storms will rage onNo, Erik had not ever lied to her, and she knew he ever would. She knew that he would only say these things if he meant it, and honestly thought them to be true. This past year had been hard on the family, and while last night had given her hope things were getting better--the idea that he could relapse was one that hung in the back of her mind. A dark fear. Yet one she'd not voice right now as she wanted to be there for him, and for their daughter. Nina had missed simple things with her father, and had grown to not look for him all the time. Magda wanted that bond to grow back between them. For both of them.
Erik asked her for time and understanding, and Magda nodded. She could give him both. She knew that she could wait more for him. "You know you already have both," She told him softly, knowing he was asking for something that she would already give him. Her words were lighter though, not quite a tease but there was hope in them. An underlying emotions of happiness that was just begging to break through with a little push. "I meant it when I told you the other night, that if you love me it is enough. Whatever you need, Erik. You're family is here to help. I want to help you. I need you to talk to me to do that."
After so long of shutting her out, she wanted him to keep talking to her. He had told her this, and she wanted him to tell her more. She wanted to hear him talking again. Smiling again. Happy again. If he let her, she could help him heal from the year they'd tortured him. Getting his powers back wouldn't heal the scars that were there. Love could.
But you will be safe in my arms
