Nina knew what was happening, and she wanted to help. She was 23 now, and she could darn well help save their race! She was strong, and clever! She had been training for YEARS! She wanted to do it---but her father said no. Always no. This time she wasn't going to take a no for an answer.
Nina 'suited up' in the all black the others wore and zipped up her leather jacket so it formed a fitted look on her. Her hair hung loose like her mother often wore hers. Walking up to her Dad's door she knocked once before pushing it open and walking in. Don't ask permission! Easy! . . . not easy, but she'd do it!
"When we get there I can move toward the west side of the compound and create a distraction. That will help you get in and get the others out without too much trouble." She explained, not addressing the fact that she'd not be given permission to go. Erik Lehnsherr

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Magneto was finalizing the plan with Selene who had just left a little while before the unexpected -- yet never unwelcome -- company of his daughter entered the room. He was suiting up for their latest mission when she spoke of when we get there. Though he heard everything else she said, he focused more on that word . . . not to mention the way she was dressed. As if she was joining them on the mission. Which, she most certainly was not.
"We?" He asked, almost rhetorically. "And where is it that you believe we are going?" His words not condescending but clearly showcasing his refusal to just bring her along, and the disapproval of her speaking as if she was joining them. She even took the initiative of dressing for the occasion. But Erik was not about to let it slide and just accept her decision.

Yes we! Nina knew he knew exactly what she meant! "Papa, you know what I am talking about!" She told him, ignoring his question. "I am apart of the brotherhood, and I want to do my part!" She gestured to her clothes and then to her boots! They were thicker and flat; clearly meant to work in and run around the woods in. She was dressed to impressed! To impress him!! To make her look like the others! She was dressed like Lorna!
Nina repeated what she said before. "If i go into the woods, I can have the wall attacked and they will move toward it to try and protected it. Then you can go in without getting over whelmed! You know the risk of them using non-mental weapons is growing. I can be there to help!" She would be there! No can! Can was asking. "I will be there to help! I'm on the team. I am going!" . . . . she just needed him to let her.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION It wasn't that her plan was not a good one. It was sound. It was logical. Well thought. But, unfortunately, her going was not up for debate. Not because he thought her incapable, but because he wished to protect her from the world of violence he had once exposed her to. That reason, and so many more which he knew he owed an explanation for. "You are as much part of the Brotherhood as anyone else," he began to tell her, taking a step closer to her.
"And we all have different roles to play within it." Hers, did not involve going to the battle field and engaging in these kinds of missions. Potentially dangerous ones. "I trust you emphatically. Which is why I need you to stay here to look after the others in my absence." She had the personality for that. Caring. Strong. Intelligent. Fair. He raised a hand to her cheek, looking intently into her eyes, his next words softly spoken yet held unwavering authority and finality to them. "You are not going."

"You are as much part of the Brotherhood as anyone else," Excatly! "And we all have different roles to play within it." Yes!! Her's could be the first wave! She could help with her powers and save the lives of others! Nina had long thought of her mother's death as her fault when she lost control, and using them to save others was the best way to honor her mother! To undone the guilt! "I trust you emphatically. Which is why I need you to stay here to look after the others in my absence." No!!!!
"You are not going." For a moment Nina almost gave in. It wasn't like she defied her father and never openly! She wasn't Lorna! It was why she came here to push going and not just climbed on the plane! "I am not a child anymore, Papa. I want to be able to help people, and save people. I need to be there. I need to be out there helping." She needed this, and she tried to explain before she would try to rebel. It was who she was. Something she'd gotten from her mother. "I can't stay on this island forever hiding from the world. I need to be apart of the fight." For her and for her mother. Something she could never say to her father without hurting him. Yet she wanted him to understand.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He knew that with age, came the strength of her will. Her want to do more, to be more proactive when it came to the actual mission. To being involved in it. But, he was not about to give in. She was the only child he had been with since birth. And perhaps in some ways, he still saw her as that baby girl he had to protect. It was what Magda would have wanted. Yet, the irony being that her strong will was also something she got from her mother.
"We made a vow to keep you safe. To protect you at all cost." We, meaning her mother and him. Though saying her name cause the permanent wound in his heart to intensify. It was why when they were threatened, Magneto had looked to Magda and they knew that they had to protect their daughter. That his going with the authorities was the only thing that would keep her safe. Or so he had thought. "Putting you in a potentially dangerous mission betrays the vow that I made." And he was a man of his word, especially when his came to his late wife.
"You are helping others, more than you know. You are here, with them. And perhaps, the day will come when you must stand and fight." He was not disillusioned. He knew that the threat of humans would be upon them on this island. "But that day is not today, nor will I willingly put you in such a position." Of that, his decision was unmoved. Unwilling to change. Stubbornly stuck on his answer. She was not going.

Her mother. He spoke of her mother too, and she knew that he cost him, in the same way it cost her. They both missed her, but it was not her father who had gotten her mother killed. It was her inexperience and lack of control. She didn't have either now. "One day I might need to stand and fight, but I will not know how." She told him, not in an angry way, but in a strong soft voice. "I will never have seen it. Is it not better to let me learn with you by my side then to wait for the next time something happens and I am useless?" They both knew that one day the humans could come. Even her mother had known it if the stories she'd heard where even half true.
"My mother fought for mutants, my father does too. Yet you hide me here, in fear that I will hurt. I am not afraid! I want to help in more ways then making soup and tea!" She didn't mean it in a negative way to her mother but more a need to be be more then she was now. Her father's hostess in a way. She wasn't going to be happy taking are of everyone forever. "I'm an adult. I made my own choices. My choice is to go with you, and to help our people." It was a quite sort of strong in her voice. Not a rebellious or angry tone. She wasn't temperamental, but soft in her words. Yet under that softness was steel. Her mind was made, and she was going to try to do this.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION He did not lack faith in his daughter's abilities, knowing that if they were forced to fight for this land and their rights, then she would stand strong. "You are never useless, Nina," he immediately corrected. "You have control of your powers, you have the ability to fight within you if need be. But your need to fight is not right now." He would prolong it as much as possible, knowing it was what Magda would have wanted. How could he betray her trust in their daughter by putting her in situations that would compromise her safety.
"Your mother helped mutants in ways that not many did." As some families had in the days of the Holocaust, Magda risked herself to offer safe haven to mutants. "And she did not have to stand in the front lines to fight in order to do so." Her way of helping mutants, and fighting for their people had been far different. "Sometimes, ones strength of heart is more valuable than their ability to fight." Their combat skills, specifically. "The others here feel safe with you. They know they can trust you." And in his absence, he needed someone like that here.
He saw so much of Magda in Nina, unable to resist speaking of her mother so that she would understand that she too held her mother's strength. "This is not up for debate, Nina," he said calmly, almost too gently considering it was a flat out refusal of her words. "The decision is made. You will stay here." But as she said, she was an adult which was why he was explaining things to her and talking it out. She was after all, not just any other mutant showing defiance. She was his daughter, and he loved her more than words could say.

Nina loved hearing about her mother, but right now she felt he didn't understand what she had taken from the stories of her mother. Magda had given what she could as a human. She had protected the only way a woman alone in the worlds who didn't know how to be violent could. She had hidden others, and worked in secret. Her father had been the face of the mutant fight. He had been the one to take the bunt of the fight with the humans. She'd come from these two worlds, and she was trying to find her own part int he world--and her father wanted her to be her mother.
"Mama was an amazing woman. She had a great heart, and I miss her so much . . . but I am not my mother." She told him softly, reaching out for her Papa knowing these words were hard for her to hear as they were to say. "I cannot hide from the fight, and pretend this is enough. If she had the ability, she would have helped you. I have the ability, and I plan to help you and the mutants who are trapped there."
"You have an idea of who I should be, because it's who Mama was. And I love that you see her in me, but I am capable of more. You take Lorna. You trust her, so trust me! I am going and I can help everyone! The plan is a good one and you know it, Papa! Let me prove I can do this!"
