GENOCIDE: AN AU PLOT
In the mid 70s, the murder of Trask set off a series of events that would threaten the entire existence of both the human and mutant race. With his death, came the approval of the Sentinel Project. These were machines designed to identify and eliminate mutants. They were perfected through experimental research and using the powers of mutants that were integrated into this technology. Therefore, Sentinels were able to counter any powers and attacks from mutants when they attempted to destroy them.
But the death count did not only grow for mutants. Technology was later developed so that the Sentinels could detect whether humans carried the mutant gene or whether any of their offspring would. Those humans were also killed.
Eventually, it led to worldwide devastation as millions of mutants and humans were killed, threatened to extinction. Mutants joined forces to try and stop them, even humans did too but it was too late. And it would only be a matter of time until the Sentinels wiped out the entire population of the Earth.
[the following statements contain spoilers from the movies]
- Days of Future Past: Although this was the plot for Days of Future Past, because the timeline was altered, the Sentinel genocide would now be considered an AU plot as it never technically took place in the movies due to the stopping of the program.
- All can join Because this is AU, all are welcome to join the plot (whether your character has died in the movies or not)
