There can be miraclesHe held her. And that was more then she'd had before! Magda held him back as they felt this sadness together. It hurt her to hear him apologize for something that wasn't his fault. When it came to that moment, Erik had done nothing wrong. She didn't want him feeling as if he had done this by existing. Their baby had died. But their daughter had lived. And he was right, they would get through this together. They had each other.
Magda held him to her, and looked into his face. "I know," she whispered, "You're here now, that's all that matters." Pulling his face to her's she kissed him, and then rested her forehead to him. It was something they often did to feel close to each other. She needed that closeness now. Her lips touched his cheeks, and then his eyes, and forehead, before moving to his lips. Her hand brushed back his hair as her tears slowed. "Together," she promised, echoing his words back to him. They would get through this together. Their love was strong enough to face anything.
