Mystique knew that Erik have found someone else like them. She was surprised really that he had done it so easily even without having Charles and cerebro to help them find the others. She knew now that she really needed to stop underestimating Magneto. When he put his mind to something, he got it done. It was something she admired about him. But this new guy, Raven wasn't so sure about yet. She had yet to meet him, but Erik had told her he was on their side. He was for their cause. She knew if he was going to be staying here with them, she wanted to get to know him, see for herself what he was like.
Mystique walked down the hallways to the room that she was told the newcomer had chose. Corin? Was that his name? She wondered if he'd take on a more mutant name like the rest of them. She was happy that Erik had seemed pleased with the nickname she had given him. Magneto. It sounded so powerful and commanding, just like him, so it suited him well.
Before approaching Corin's room, Mystique changed her form to look like Erik. She could at least show the new boy what she could do. She smirked to herself before walking up and knocking lightly on the already open door. I trust you find our accomodations to your satisfaction?" She said, her voice a perfect mimic of Erik's.

It was still a time of adjustment for Corin. A few days ago he had never met someone like him – or a mutant as he was still forgetting to call himself – and now he had found himself joining a group to gain mutant rights. He still felt as though he should have been aware of the problems facing people like him before, but then he supposed that it was better late than never. He’d also found someone who understood his abilities far better than he did himself, and was beginning to look for other uses for them. Gambling was all very well and good, but now he felt more confident about testing the boundaries, to see what he could really do.
At the moment he wasn’t doing anything terribly taxing. He was sat on his bed trying to see how long he could prevent gravity from working on a couple of books which were currently floating in the middle of the room. The first few minutes were fairly easy, but as with anything, the more he tried to keep them up, the more concentration it was taking, but he was determined to keep them afloat for a good ten minutes. Well, that was until a knock at his door caught his attention and the books crashed onto the floor. He hadn’t even noticed he’d left his door open until he looked up to see Erik standing there.
“Er, yes, yes it’s fine.” He replied, half jumping off the bed to pick the books up and then finding himself stood rather awkwardly in the middle of the room. “I was just practicing.” He added by way of explanation, and hoped that Erik had seen more than him just dropping them.

It took more self control for Mystique to not laugh when he dropped all the books to the floor then it took concetration for her to stay in Erik's form. Not that she wanted to laugh out of a mocking nature, that wasn't it at all, but she thought it was cute that she surprised him that much. She really hadn't meant to surprise him that much, and she saw how awkwardly he seemed after the display. It made her feel a little bad for tricking him now.
"That's good, the more you practice, the more you learn to control who you truly are and what you can really do" She told him, still as Erik, before changing in front of him, this time to look like Corin.
"I was just practicing too" She told him enjoying his reaction as he got to see and hear himself say the same phrase. She knew she had shown off enough. She was tempted to change into the human form she had grown so accustomed to when she was with Charles, but she knew that wasn't who she was anymore. She was here so she didnt have to hide. And if anyone couldn't accept that, they shouldnt be here. She then allowed herself to change into her true, blue form. She hoped the apprehension and fear wasn't evident in her eyes as she did so. It was easy and fun to show others how she could copy them, but they usually didnt expect that this was underneath. She was always afraid of seeing fear or disgust on the person's face as they did see it.

Corin just nodded at Erik's words, unsure whether he was supposed to reply or not. It was a feeling he usually had, sometimes he got the feeling that Erik just liked hearing himself talk rather than being interested in holding a conversation. And there was Corin thinking he had an ego- Oh. Corin stared, slightly open mouthed at...himself. For a second or two he couldn't quite work out how to form words before his brain decided to engage properly and he remembered Erik had mentioned a shapeshifter. Now that, that was impressive.
Wait, he didn't actually look like that did he? He could've sworn he was more attractive than that, unless mirrors had been lying to him for years and good lord, what was with his accent? He'd thought he'd lost that public school accent after going back to the USA, apparently not. No wonder he got so many strange looks when he trying to blend in. He walked over to where, well, he, was stood, not even trying to act like he wasn't staring. "You could have morphed into a more attractive version of me." He said with a smile and extended his hand, hoping that his surprise and awe was no longer evident. "Corin Danvers, and you ar-" before he could finish the person in front of him had changed again. "...blue."
He was staring again, this time in confusion and embarrassment as he realised that he'd just been far ruder than he'd intended. His hand was still awkwardly stretched out and he wasn't sure whether he should keep it there or if he'd managed to offend her and so a handshake probably wasn't going to cut it. "I-sorry, I just wasn't expecting-" He stopped, wincing slightly, this really wasn't going well. "Sorry. Shall we start that one again?" He paused for a second, "Corin Danvers."

Mystique loved watchin Corin's expression as he saw her change into a version of himself. The disbelief at it all. The awe and curiousity as he took into the information. It wasn't everyday someone ran into themselves. Hell, she'd probably be just as shocked to see someone looking like her running around on the streets. He seemed happy and extended out his hand to her, but then she showed him her true self. Blue. The first word to escape his lips as he really saw what she looked like. Mystique's happiness from seeing his earlier reaction to himself faded and she frowned slightly. She watched as he just stared, confused and stunned. She glanced down at his hand, which was still outstretched, wondering if he'd pull it away not even wanting to touch the blue girl, but he didnt.
Mystique was a bit surprised when he apologized to her. That didnt happen too often, or ever. Not when people saw the real her. It was disgust, outrage and sometimes even anger. But usually they didn't apologize. And to be fair she had surprised him, it wasn't as though he was expecting to see anything that she had just showed him. Shock was a normal reaction. Her frown turned to a light smile as he started over, reintroducing himself. At least the guy seemed nice. Even if he was truly freaked out by her, at least he had enough manners, or at least common sense given their situation here, to not be outright mean to her face.
She extended her hand, shaking his as he introduced himself "Mystique." She introduced herself. "I hope you're not mad about that little trick...I find its easier to show people than tell people what I can do"

To say that Corin was relieved would be an understatement. There were very few things that irritated him more than people being rude, and it was especially annoying when he was the one doing it, so he was glad that they had managed to put his outburst behind them. That wasn't to say that he wasn't still surprised at the woman in front of him, far from it, but he had learnt that being shocked and surprised was just something he was going to have to get used to. Besides, he had no idea what it was like to be so different than others. Yes, he had his own abilities but no one would know just by looking at him.
"Lovely to meet you," he said with a smile. Were people usually mad with her? Corin had managed to go from confused, to impressed, to surprised within a matter of seconds. He hadn't really had time to be mad. "Not at all, slightly envious of your talents, but not mad."
He had clearly spent too much time with Erik, because already his mind was reeling with all the possibilities of utilising a talent like hers - he was even thinking in terms of utilising for goodness' sake. "So, can you look like anyone?" He asked, hoping that he hadn't over stepped the mark. He was still getting used to being around other people like him, and was still amazed by what they could do, and yes, alright, he was also thinking about how much money he could make if he could do the things she did, but using his powers for his own gain was all that he had been used to until recently.

Mystique was still feeling a bit cautious around the newcomer. She didnt really know what he was thinking right now, this was sure a time when having Charles around could be helpful, knowing his intentions, knowing whether it was safe to trust him. But he seemed to genuinely be okay, and apologetic for his mistake. She felt like she might be able to relax...at least a little.
"Very nice to meet you too" Mystique told him, returning the smile, not being able to help it growing slightly as he said he was a bit envious. She really was proud of her abilities. It made her unique, and while there was a long period of time where being unique was the last thing that she'd ever wish for, there was something empowering about being able to do something no one else could. And she was good at it too. Erik had helped her to see that she really should be proud, and feeling that way wasn't a bad thing either.
She nodded at his question. "Yep, I can look and sound like anyone, at least so far I've been able to. It requires a bit of concentration, but I have pretty good control over it" She told him. "What' about you? You can levitate things?" She asked curiously, having seen the book floating earlier.

Corin found himself rather happy with how the conversation was going, his faux pas was seemingly forgotten and he had already decided that he liked Mystique. Then again, he had found himself increasingly more inclined towards mutants such as himself simply because they were mutants. It gave him a sense of belonging which he had never really experienced with his family. He'd gone from simply being the youngest son to an anonymous drifter, but now he was starting to feel like he was part of something and therefore rather excitable when meeting other people like himself. What was surprising, however, was how quickly he was accepting the fact that she was so physically different. Of course he wasn't going to say anything again even if he had felt differently about it, but when he had once been in shock it seemed like the most natural thing in the world that he should currently be talking to a woman with blue skin, red hair and yellow eyes.
Unlike the shock, however, the envy wasn't wearing off, and he couldn't stop thinking about all the things he could do had he her gift, all the money he could make. Actually, he wouldn't really need money. He could just impersonate a monarch or someone and demand people just gave him things. He was able to alter luck, but she could literally do anything she wanted, as long as she chose the right person to look like.
He found himself smiling, rather unconciously, at her question. There were very few things he enjoyed more than talking about himself and showing off, especially in front of someone who thought that levitating objects was the limit of his abilities. "Yes," he replied, pausing for what he considered to be dramatic effect, "But that's not all." He glanced around the room, trying to find something that he could show off with. His eyes fell upon a glass of water he'd forgotten he even had, sat next to a pack of cigarettes on his bedside table. A small smirk found its way onto his lips and he turned back to Mystique (he'd been practicing manipulating things without actually having to look at them) and with a flick of his wrists the water in the glass began to bubble and eventually boil. "I can alter the likelihood of something happening." he explained before letting the water return to normal. "To a certain extent, anyway."
