Nothing had been working. Wanda had tried time and time again to track down the man named Erik Lehnsherr, and no matter what she tried to do, everything led her in a circle. The Brotherhood of Mutants... Professor Xavier's school of Gifted Youngsters... these were the factions that she'd heard of, but that still didn't help. In fact, she'd seen a speech on the television made by the leader of the Brotherhood.. his name was Magneto. There'd been whispers about Magneto being one and the same as Erik Lehnsherr, but she had no prroof..and bouncing in on something like that was sure to get her killed.
And so, she did the only thing she could think of doing at that point in her life, and she returnd to Seattle, Washington. She wouldn't stay there, of course..but she felt that if she returned home, that perhaps she'd find something that she had missed. It was far fetched, of course, but it was something at least. She was currently sitting in a coffee shop, watching the rain pour down outside. It was a cool, crisp fall day, and there seemed to be a chill in her spine that she just couldn't shake. It was one of those feelings that people get when something was about to happen. Perhaps something bad, but definitely something life altering.
"Well, Erik," she sighed, staring at a diary that was once her mother's. "I'm beginning to think that you don't really exist. Leave it to me to chase ghosts."

Despite Magneto's wanted status in the world, he still managed to stay well informed. He had to. It was all about the recruiting process. He could not just let anyone into the Brotherhood, for they could easily be spies, placed there by the government to find out more about this group of freedom fighters. So when he heard that a mutant was looking for him, or the Brotherhood, he took action. It was a fairly common occurrence as well, ever since his televised speech which urged mutants to join the cause. And they had. Several of them had. Recently however, word had reached him that someone was searching for Erik Lehnsherr. Not Magneto. Not the Brotherhood. But rather, Erik Lehnsherr. That was his human name; one that only a few ever called him. And so, it was unusual. For someone to be looking for the man he was, and not the mutant he had become. It was why he could not forgo this opportunity. Why he felt the need to act on it and address this inquiry of him. It had not been easy to find a single mutant out of the many. But thanks to the resources available to him -- inclusive of certain mutants powers which helped track this one -- he had managed to find her. He received a physical description of her and where she would be. Magneto was confident that he would find her.
Clad in civilian clothing consisting of a hat to further conceal his true identity, he entered the coffee shop. His eyes searched over the crowd, immediately finding the woman he was looking for due to her most distinctive feature: her vibrant red hair. That had been the one attribute that many people had described her as having. And he could see why. He casually made his way to her, nonchalantly taking a seat on the chair across from her, the table between them. His eyes locked on her face, and there was something about her. Something that he could not describe nor explain. He did not let it effect the way he was, having perfected guarding his emotions after all this time. He remained calm, composed, and went straight to business. "I hear you are searching for a man by the name of Erik Lehnsherr." There was a chance she would recognize him as Magneto, knowing the connection between the two, but he was testing that theory. Seeing if she knew Magneto was Erik, or if she perceived them as two separate individuals.

Wanda had no psychic abilities, nor did she have any sort of sixth sense. However, she had enough intuition to know when something was out of place. She hadn't felt that in some time until a man walked through the door of the coffee shop who looked incredibly familiar. She had lowered her eyes to her cup, deciding to attempt avoiding eye contact. It was mostly to keep herself from staring. From trying to figure out who he was. It wasn't until the man approached her little corner table, and spoke, that she figured out where she knew him from. It was mostly the voice. She lifted her gaze and met his eyes. Those eyes... there was something about those eyes. This was Magneto.. the mutant who was so famous for his televised speech calling out to others.
"I am," she spoke as cool, and collectedly as possible. How was she supposed to be so calm, though? She'd heard rumors circulating that Magneto and Erik Lehnsherr was one in the same.. and now Magneto was here, in Seattle, looking for her. "And since you've come all the way here just to speak to me about him, I take it you know who he is..." Her voice was low, and soft, even though there weren't many others in the establishment, and those who were there were across the room, having their own silent conversations. Magneto had a rather intimidating presence, but yet there was something vaguely familiar about him..Not because of the whole being on broadcast television thing, but it was his eyes that had her wondering.

Magneto often remembered all the faces he had seen. He was certain he had never met her before, yet there was still that strong familiarity about her. It was odd. And though he was pushing it back from surfacing, it was a nagging feeling that he could not ignore. She confirmed that she was looking for Erik Lehnsherr, and assumed he knew who he was. Magneto proceeded to take off his hat, wet from the rain, and ran a hand through his hair before clasping his hands on the table in front of him. "I do," he confirmed, assuring her that this would not be a wasted conversation. "But I must firstly ask, why is it that you wish to speak to him?" He knew he was talking about himself in third person. But at the same time, needed to know the reasons for her inquiries -- if she would tell him. It was just taking necessary precautions. He planned to reveal himself as Erik before they parted ways, as otherwise this would truly be a wasted visit. But he wanted to first determine what the reason so, so he could better prepare himself.
The waitress came over, offering Magneto a menu, though he just ordered a coffee, briefly breaking eye contact from the young woman to the waitress, and as soon as she went to put in the order, looked back at the red-haired girl. What was it about her that he could not ignore? He would never forget such vibrant red hair. Or even such a face. Was it that she resembled someone he knew? He did not often feel like this in the presence of complete strangers, so why her? Surely, the key was her reason for seeking out Erik. And he hoped to find his answer to why she was so familiar tonight as well.

She knew that he was going to ask why she had been looking for Erik. Luckily for Wanda, the proof was right there, in her mother's diary. She always kept it with her, though, so it wasn't surprising that it was in her possession. The small notebook bound with pink lace and a faded silk rose had gone from a relic, and a link to her past, in to a textbook which Wanda studied over and over again. Her mother had placed the diary in to her dresser drawer when Wanda was young, just before she'd taken her own life, and on the very last page was a note, to her, stating who her father was. It never said, however, that he was a mutant.
Once Magneto ordered his coffee, and the waitress toddled off to retrieve a fresh carafe to pour the man a cup, Wanda placed the diary on to the table, and gently slid it toward him. "This is why I'm looking for him. Last page." She lifted up her own coffee cup, and took a sip, taking note that it had gotten cold. She hadn't even realized she'd been sitting in the coffee shop for so long. "According to that, written by my mother years ago, Erik Lehnsherr is my father. I'm looking for him, because I figured he might just want to know that he has a daughter roaming around the world somewhere."

Magneto watched as she moved the diary toward him, and referred to the last page. He watched her for a moment, before his hand moved to the book and opened it to the last page. His eyes skimmed over the words just as she spoke them: Erik Lehnsherr was her father. The words did not quite register in his mind, as he became numbed with shock. No. That was . . . that could not be correct. But the reasons of how it could be outweighed the number of reasons of how it was indeed possible. He had never intended to be a father. Not even when Magda had informed him that she was pregnant, all those years ago. He knew he was in capable of raising a child. Yet, the young woman before him was grown. Suddenly, the striking familiarity of her made sense. She was his daughter. No. She was Erik Lehnsherr's daughter. The words repeated over and over in his mind, but he still could not fully process them and the implications of these words. What they meant.
He was a father. No. Fatherhood entailed many things and he had done nothing for her other than create her life. But he had not raised her. He had not supported her. So he was her father only by blood. And yet, did this suddenly mean he was responsible to take control of this role? To embrace fatherhood? He withheld all emotions that her words caused to arise within him. The only thing that made him finally react was the waitress returning with his mug of coffee. She placed it in front of him, as he gave a slight not to her in gratitude. He then closed the diary and slid it back toward her. "I suggest you give up the search, for Erik Lehnsherr no longer exists." He knew the words were cold, distant, withdrawn. But what could he do? The feelings of having a daughter were so unfamiliar and he could not rid himself of them as they stirred within his heart. And despite his words, something told him that before they left each other's company tonight . . . it would be known that he was in fact her father, if she did not realize that already.

The look on Magneto's face didn't seem to change. He certainly had a strong poker face, she'd give him that. As he read, she lifted her fresh coffee to her lips and she took a sip after blowing on it a little until it was cool enough to consume. The first words that Magneto spoke when he had finished reading the page in question, were 'I suggest you give up the search or Erik Lehnsherr. He no longer exists'. Just.. give up? After everything that she had gone through? Not likely. Besides, why would she give up searching, when what she was looking for could be right in front of her at that very moment?
"That's probably true," She mused, lowering her cup to the table. "Actually, according to the rumor mill, Erik's been gone for awhile. From what I understand, he goes by Magneto now." Her arms rested on the table, and her ruby red nails tapped lightly against the surface of it. "I wasn't sure how true it was until you showed up here. Otherwise..why would you care if someone is looking for him?" Wanda was feeling confident that she had finally found the man she'd been trying to find for so long..but what now? Where would she go from there?
"Look.. you don't have to freak out. I'm not looking to have any sort of father/daughter bonding time.. No princess tea parties or telling me stories before bed. I just wanted to meet you. Call it a right of passage, I guess. Closure, even."
