Character Basics
.:Name of Character:. Aiden Lianne Davis .:Species:. Mutant .:Alias:. Meek; Madcap, Callous, and Streetwise. .:Year Born/Timeline:. 1989 .:Affiliation:. Undecided
Appearance
.:Physical Appearance:.
Seeing Aiden passing by, the first things you would notice is what she is wearing. She looks homeless. Mismatched clothes that are worn and don’t always fit, her coat is grimy and her shoes have holes. Normally at this point, you would probably look away, feeling it uncomfortable to look at someone who is unfortunate. Like it’s a secret that life doesn’t always provide the bare necessities or perhaps you merely don’t want to feel obligated to help.
If you were to move past that and see her, you would notice that she is on the short end as far as averages are concerned but still average nonetheless. You would then see how skinny and malnourished she is. Not the sort of skinny anyone in their right mindset would envy, but the kind that makes you grateful for whatever few pounds that tended to vex you.
If you looked at her pale face and spoke to her, you would see that she had an upturned nose, thin lips, and a dramatic jawline. Dark, nearly black eyes would appear haunted and shifty. Narrowing into a sparkle and youthful look if you caught her by surprise by cracking a joke. Her eyebrows are sharp and expressive, matching her dark chocolate hair in color. Her hair is short and straight with few layers. It parts on the side and has a tendency to fall into her face if she forgets to tuck it over her ear.
.:Height:. 5'3" .:Portrayed by:. Kathryn Prescott
Personality
.:Personality:.
Aiden has been diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder and schizophrenia, though in a sense she has neither because it is part of her mutation rather than an illness. In another sense, it is an applicable “label” because it carries many of the same symptoms.
Aiden’s “host” personality is comparatively underdeveloped due to a lack of exposure to real life. Her time to “discover” who she is has been stolen from her by her overprotective entity, Madcap. She is very naïve, easily hurt, and frightened of the world. The others call her Meek because of this. If exposed to safe conditions long enough, she will open up to and start to behave like an ordinary teenager. One who can be silly and immature at times but is good natured. Unfortunately, getting that part of her out is very difficult.
Madcap is the dominant personality. She was originally who Aiden wanted to be ideally. Confident, fast thinking, a sense of humor, and a little bit of a daredevil. Unfortunately, because she is exposed to the “schizophrenia” the most, she is the craziest. This causes her to express the most signs of insanity(eye twitches, talking to self, extreme mood swings). This entity can be trusted to side with “good” for the most part but her extreme mood swings cause her to be a might too unpredictable to have full confidence in.
Streetwise is by far the most level headed personality Aiden has. She’s quiet, contemplative and resourceful. She likes to get things done and tends to be extremely introverted. Addictive behaviors are seen in her and she is particularly tempted by mind-altering substances like alcohol. She has a sense of innocence versus guilty that can motivate her to take sides but she feels the responsibility of taking care of Meek the most, causing her to look out for herself before taking care of others.
Finally we have Callous. She is the person Aiden fears she is. She is cruel, vindictive, and bold. Callous is the only personality capable of consciously accessing her telekinesis ability because she is the only one who has noticed she has influence over her powers. She has a low regard for life and shows no moral obligations in the matter. Anger is piped through her veins and her temper is terribly short. She is violent and the pinnacle of her hatred is directed at Aiden and those who defend her. Sometimes she attempts to kill her via suicide but only when Callous is absolutely livid and forgets her own sense of self preservation. Reasoning is lost and interestingly enough, out of all the personalities, she is the only one with a slight southern drawl… like her father’s.
.:Powers/Abilities:.
Aiden’s powers consist of two categories, one is telekinesis and the other is perhaps best described as “creating ghosts.” Presently, her powers are purely subconscious with one exception, one personality or “ghost” can consciously use her telekinesis but only just. Callous can jerk things around but she cannot calmly maneuver anything.
Her “creation of ghosts” is essentially an ability to subconsciously create consciousness beyond her own. Usually they are only voices but sometimes they can possess inanimate objects.
What consciousnesses are made and when completely depend on Aiden’s perception on the world. She may not consciously notice that ominous doorway but if the thought crosses her mind ever so briefly, a dark entity will be born. It is important to note that these entities never know more than Aiden but they have access to every single memory Aiden has made, even if she does not recall them.
How these consciousnesses have any affect on the world is all through Aiden’s actually intricate telekinesis. Her telekinesis is so precise, it can create sound, thus the voices for her consciousness. It is too complicated for her mind to do intentionally but if she were to have severe training and a disciplined mind beyond average, she could do it. These exterior consciousnesses don’t even think about details of their ability to speak but they pick up on the ability to move things quicker because they have more reason to do so, having no physical form.
These consciousness are only really extensions of Aiden, not true individual minds. They disappear completely if she can get away from them. They can only exist where she conceives they exist and usually, because in her mind they have their own lives, they don’t follow her. They can only be brought back if she remembers them and is where she believes they are.
Possession occurs when Aiden perceives the object as the entity she is meeting. Usually objects will only move occasionally but if her power is being especially taxing, the created entity could possess a car and operate it fully on its own. That would stretch her mind thin very quickly, however.
With such an active, subconscious ability packed with a variance of emotions and personalities, Aiden can become overwhelmed to the point that she is disoriented and can barely crawl. She may suffer from nausea and in bad cases, seizures. When this happens, she will find a way to leave the area and force her mind to let go of the consciousnesses. Probably the worst thing that can happen to her is being locked in a room for the rest of her life.
Aiden is not telepathic in the slightest and neither are the entities she invents. Possession cannot occur in anything living, though her telekinesis can put words into their mouths- in a sense. This does not affect the living being in the slightest, as it is only her telekinesis imitating someone’s voice to say what she thinks they would say. With people, this only occurs when she really, really doesn’t believe that they are telling the truth and what she thinks is the truth starts “coming out.” Usually it’s pretty easy for everyone but Aiden to tell when this is happening. You'd notice if someone says something and their lips don’t move, even more so if the new entity starts arguing with the person they’re supposed to be. That, and the voice is never quite right. Essentially, it's no more believable than a seasoned ventriloquist throwing their well imitated voice.
However, one does not need to be a telepath to affect one’s own mind in this manner. The only entities that can successfully use Aiden’s body are those who believe in some warped and twisted way that they are Aiden or an extension of her.
Important notes; Aiden is unaware of her being a mutant at all. Sometimes she believes she is crazy, other times she believes that all of these “ghost” are real things and they’ve spawn all around her for unknown reasons. She has no idea that she has telekinetic powers and is pretty much the reason why she has not even attempted to use them.
Tapping into these telekinetic powers would be extremely difficult, even with a clear head because they are accessed in a similar way that we access our ability to breathe are. You can think about your breathing and cause yourself to breath or to hold it in, but after an hour, you’ve completely forgotten about breathing entirely. Aiden’s main obstacle is the ability to focus.
History
.:Birthplace:. Northern Idaho .:Family:.
Ted Wells; Father Delilah Davis; Mother Carson Davis; Stepfather Joel Davis; Stepbrother Isaac Davis; Brother
.:Occupation:. None .:Current Location of Residence:. USA. Aiden is homeless for the most part and cannot stay in one place for too long.
.:History:.
Aiden was the second child born of Delilah Davis and at the time her last name was Wells. Her father was Ted Wells, mechanic and alcoholic. Her time under his roof was brief yet severe. He was the run of the mill abusive, mean drunk. Ted was nice enough to be around when he was sober but it could never last. With the support of her friends, Delilah was able to divorce him and gain full custody of her son and daughter. He never paid child support but Delilah was fine with that.
Growing up with a single mom wasn’t always easy but Aiden and her brother Isaac were able to understand that their lifestyle had improved. They lived their childhood as well as their peers did. They rode their bikes to school and back, played video games until their consoles overheated, then spent the rest of their time outside with the neighborhood kids.
Aiden and Isaac were very close during those years. Though Aiden figured Isaac for a dork at times with his imagination and love for pretend, she was happy playing with him so long as they kept a clear definition of what was real and what wasn’t. She was a very grounded literalist at the time, and only agreed to play games like “alien invasion” if they had actual toy guys to play with.
When she was ten, her mother married a man called Carson Davis who was also a single parent. His son, Joel Davis, was seventeen. He had very little interest in his step siblings and was always moody. The two kids couldn’t help but be interested in him. Joel had a motorcycle and his own computer, for Pete’s sake! Aiden’s stepbrother didn’t stay in the family for long, however. He knocked up his girlfriend and disappeared with her after a huge arguement with his father.
Isaac really grew to appreciate his stepdad and Carson, who had already had plenty of experience raising a son, connected with him well. With Aiden, they just didn’t know how to get close with one another. They were always like roommates rather than relatives.
Everything was civil in the household until one day, when Aiden was twelve, she started to show signs of schizophrenia. These changes were noticed quickly, as Aiden never seemed to have trouble separating reality from her imagination. Things got worse enough for her to go to the doctor’s and by then, things spiraled out of control. Scared by the voices she was hearing and what they were telling her to do, she drew within herself. When her doctor attempted to find the source of her issues with hypnosis, he discovered that she also had developed multiple personalities.
When the voices were bold enough to speak to other people, those involved with Aiden found their lives were thrown into insanity. Her mom lost hope in her capability to take care of her and sent her to a psychiatric ward. She didn’t last six months in that hospital. In a confused panic, she and the small army of entities she had created broke out and escaped.
Things got better but they would always worsen if she stayed in one place for too long. Eventually, the fear of her confused, warped world caused her other personalities to hold more dominance. Each of them, except for Callous, had a desire to defend her. Her teenage years were spent in the streets. She survived through “helpful” vending machines and Streetwise’s ability to get things done.
Sample Post
The hour was four, and Aiden was asleep in the sanctuary of a subway station in Chicago. Draped in old newspapers and her coat, she flinched restlessly through a nightmare. Images of demonic creatures leering for her, hissing through their teeth rose her heart rate quickly. In her mind, she screamed but she woke with only a sharp gasp. Aiden laid her head on her knees and rocked herself back and forth. Her breathing was unsteady as she tried to comfort herself.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha haha haaa… a dry, unnerving cackle echoed throughout the tunnel. Growing pale, Aiden pressed her body against the icy concrete wall. Her right eye twitched and she heaved deep, rapid breaths.
“Who’s there?!” Aiden cried finally, when the laughing did not cease. She blinked her eyes firmly.
Eerily, Aiden’s demeanor shifted. Fearful, meek eyes melted into spry confidence. A crooked smile crept on her face. She pulled herself to her feet and began chuckling.
A foot in his grave? Ha- this fool is sleeps in his grave, tempting death with his alluring pose. the cackling voice chanted no louder than a whisper.
“Oh now that is funny…” Madcap laughed more boldly, skipping to the edge of the platform. She squatted down and peered at the body below. “I know they cushion the casket but I hear it gets stuffy in there!”
Madcap tilted her head, musing. The fellow laying on the tracks was laying face down. It would be funnier to have him lay on his back with his hands resting on his chest. It would express the grave joke better.
With a stiff sniff of air, she hopped down and rolled the unconscious man over onto his back. His forehead was bleeding. She repositioned him then stood back, grinning brightly above. The voice chortled with approval. Madcap circled around the man, who was starting to stir.
Give him a proper funeral. the voice urged.
Madcap spied a paper straw sheath. She grabbed it and snapped it in two. She tied it into a cross shape then put it in his hands. Standing up, she daintily placed her hands on her chest. Teary eyed, she said, “Dearly beloved, we gather together today in loving memory of…”
Pausing, she knelt beside him, prodding his shoulder.
“Psst! What’s your name?” when he didn’t answer, she shook his shoulder. “Wake up!”
