Wanda yawned, working New Years 1989 in the ER was not her preferred place to be, especially when she had a warm bed, and an even warmer husband waiting for her. She giggled thinking about him, Ethan and her had only been married six months, and she had never been happier. Of course some of that might have been Ethan's mutation, Pheromone Control. The two of them complemented each other well, her training at Xaivers and with ...Magneto helped her teach him how to control his powers, and her mutation shifted the odds when he DID loose control so that it only affected her.
Wanda blushed hotly, thinking of all the times and trouble they had gotten into, the public indecency charges were getting old, but oh god the FUN they had gaining them! "You are thinking of that husband of yours aren't you?" The desk nurse teased her. "Yup, two more hours and its home in time to ring in the new decade right." Wanda winked at Sally.
Wanda bounced up the stairs to their fourth floor walk up, they could have afforded better, especially with her mutation but they had agreed that staying under the radar was more important, and playing the broke newlyweds also had a lot of romantic appeal. She was covered in confetti from the celebrations outside, "Ethan!" she called out setting the grocery bag down. "Honey I picked us up some Champagne and a pizza." She giggled they were acting like teenagers, doing all the silly things she never had a chance to do as a real teen.
Her hand brushed over the long steamed rose, laying on the counter, 'Happy Birthday, my Scarlet Goddess.' Oh Ethan.. there was a trail of petals leading to the bedroom, Wanda shrugged off her coat, unbuttoning her blouse as she went. "You didnt have to-"
The room was destroyed, feathers drifted in the air from the ruined bed, Why is everything red? she wondered numbly. Her mind refusing to grasp what she was seeing. Fragments of the room flashed in her vision. The bloody hand print on the wall, the broken window. "Ethan..." her husbands crumpled up body.
Wanda dropped to her knees her training leaving her as she wailed his name, hands fluttering around his face, she had seen enough death to recognize it now, but she flailed against reality beating it with her mutation, trying to FORCE fate to bring him back.
Wanda had no idea how long she sat there rocking his cold corpse, her thwarted power ran across the skies as red lighting, reality had gone mad outside of her little apartment, transformers across the city blew, traffic and street lights blinked on and off, everything that could go wrong did, every soul on the island found themselves in the worst night of their llife as Wanda's grief lashed out. Perhaps that would have been all, a few accidents perhaps a few deaths, if she had not seen the scrap of cloth clutched in her husbands hand. 'Genodime Dynamics'.
During her days of at the Brotherhood she had done her share of raids against them, a mutant breeding and experimentation facility. Wanda's scream of rage was amplified beyond imagination. Planes fell out of the sky, as any control she had vanished, 'KILL THEM ALL!' It was humans, always humans that did this.
Buildings crumbled as key supports failed, in the center of the destruction Wanda was caught, a prisoner of her own pain.
