The day that Magneto had been injected with multiple syringes of the cure, was the day he died. No more was he Magneto but rather, Erik Lehnsherr. It had devastated him. Breaking his spirit and soul. For humans to decide that they should strip a mutant of their powers was beyond cruel. Even though Magneto failed to see the hypocrisy considering his plans when having kidnapped Rogue years ago, but still! How dare they. Erik had truly believed that everything was over. That his life as he knew it had come to an end . . . not to be too dramatic. But then he had felt it. A glimmer of hope. A feeling deep within his soul that he had otherwise believed was broken. He could feel a familiar manifestation of his powers, and sitting in the park that day with a chess board in front of him, had been the beginning. He had gone into hiding after that, not revealing himself to anyone, not even any of the Brotherhood members who may still exist. No. Not may. He knew that they did exist. It was merely a matter of finding them. But he could not do so until he returned to being the Magneto that they knew him as. Anything less, anything weak, left him undeserving to call himself a mutant for he could not live to his reputation and name of Magneto.
He was currently in the former Brotherhood Headquarters, the one used prior to the massive battle that they had fought to rid the world of the cure -- or the source of it. He only knew this was not foolish because of the fact that it remained undiscovered by humans. Besides, perhaps other Brotherhood mutants would return to it should they wish to rejoin this group of freedom fights -- as Magneto perceived himself and them to be. He told very few of his returning powers, but as he was still not 100%, he was holding off on informing the world. So in the meantime, he sat in his chair, metal spheres in front of him, slowly levitating above the palm of his hand. It felt wonderful to be able to have his powers once more, and knew that with the proper training and practice, they would fully return. And when they did, he planned to make such a comeback, that every human would tremble in fear when they heard his name. He was beyond angry at what they had done to so many like him. Weaponizing the cure. Trying to rid the world of mutants. Well, they would soon learn that the tables had turned, and that no matter what they did, they could not so easily rid the world of Magneto. It was a trialing time. Mystique had lost her way for so long while she was injected with the cure. The one person who had wanted her around thought she was disgusting now. All pale and blonde like she was when he met her. She was no longer beautiful, and blue, and Mystique. She was plain Raven. Just like everyone else. She couldn't even show her face to Charles. She had no one..nothing. She fled to Sweeden at one point, just to keep herself away from everyone she possibly knew. And then, something happened one day. She started to feel a tingle that was a sheer memory of something that happened when she had turned twelve.
The moment she started to regain her abilities, she made up her mind to track down people from her past. Namely, Magneto. He was first. The man who could knock her down as easily as build her up. Rumor had it, that he was powerless as well. Despite everything the rumor mill was churning out, she knew that if her own powers were coming back, Erik's would as well. Magneto would be returning, and she knew exactly where he would go.
So, here she was, about to enter the Brotherhood Headquarters. Familiar feelings washed over her as she walked inside. Her eyes scanned the building. So far, no one had returned, but that would likely change as the cure wore off for everyone slowly but surely. It wasn't long in her journey through the Brotherhood HQ that she saw someone who she recognized immediately. "I knew I would find you here," she chimed as she stood across the room from him, leaning against a door frame. The form she chose, was of course her natural blue. Would she use anything else going in to the headquarters of the Brotherhood? "Predictable as ever."
The emotions she felt for Magneto were always...complicated. However, now, she was conflicted more than ever. She felt cold, and angry... yet she loved him as she always had. No matter how much Magneto aged, she'd always see him young, as they were when they first met. Powerful. Perfect. Still, she was upset with him beyond belief, and she was determined to let him know it.

The footsteps that approached were so soft that had it not been dead silent around him, he would not have been aware of them. He did not look up when they stopped. He only raised his gaze when he heard a familiar voice. Could it truly be? Slowly raised his head, his eyes lay upon one of the most exquisite beings that had ever existed. Mystique. Not Raven, but Mystique. He would be lying if he said that he had not thought of her. Having to reject her had not been easy, especially as she had used herself as a shield for his own life. Had she not intervened, he would have been shot with the cure instead. He would eternally be grateful to her for that -- even though his own unwilling administering of the drug had been inevitable. But he had not been able to allow her to stay with them. She had become a human. And they were against humans. Yet now, here she was. In all her natural glory and it was enough to make Magneto's lips slightly curve upward in a smile as he rose to his feet. She looked perfect, just as she always did as Mystique.
"And you look as beautiful as ever" he stated, going off her words of his predictability. He imagined she was not pleased with him, but that didn't mean he was displeased with her. And that he wouldn't welcome her back with open arms -- should she decide to stay. He began to walk toward her, a pleased expression remaining on his face. "My dear, Mystique," he said, allowing his tone to match his expression. "If my predictability is what brought you here, then I am grateful for it." She knew him so very well, and was one of the few people who did. She had been with him through practically every mission he had. And he had missed her so. When she'd been hit with the cure, he had considered her dead . . . and he had truly mourned for her passing. Yet now, just as him, they were resurrected. Revived with their powers. And it provided him with a new level of happiness to see her here before him . . . even if she did not decide to rejoin him. Though, he would still trying to convince her to. How could he not? "How good it is to see you," he continued as he was now standing in front of her, his eyes scanning over her to take in the familiar and missed sight of her rare and alluring beauty.

Of course the first words he spoke to her were compliments. Such pretty things, he would always say to her.. aside from when she was a human. Yes, it was agreeable that she had become the thing that they were against, but that didn't make her any different than the girl he met many years ago. Then again, he always liked her so much better when she let herself look like she was supposed to. "And you're just as beautiful as ever too, Magneto." It definitely wasn't a lie. He'd always be handsome to her.
"I can't say i'm not upset with you." She mused with a rather soft voice. "But I also can not say that I blame you. Obviously, i'm not entirely writing you off since I'm here. But this is the first place I came when I discovered my abilities had returned." She walked toward him, and she placed a small kiss against his cheek. "I am sorry that I failed you.. but you failed me as well." Looking to the side she took a deep breath. "I've also come because I have news about Charles." She didn't know how much he knew about his friend. Her brother. "He's alive. I don't know if you were aware of it or not.."
She had been busy during the time that they had parted. When finding a cure was a loss, she followed rumors back to a facility where they were keeping Charles where she was posing as a nurse until her mutant abilities came in to effect again. "I thought if anyone should know, it would be you." There was also the fact that she missed him. She missed Magneto terribly, no matter how rocky their relationship had been. He was an important figure in her heart.

Her knew that the words following his would determine her perception of him. And whether it had drastically shifted or not. He was prepared for it having done so, prepared to say what he could to convince her why he had ostracized her from The Brotherhood. But her words instead, reinforced so much. Her intelligence. Her understanding. And her loyalty. Her compliment was a sincere was, and though the words that followed were ones saying she was upset, she also wasn't completely unwilling to be in his company -- obviously, her presence here proved that. He continued to listen to her as she explained that she did not blame him. He felt his head ever so slightly raise with pride at the mutant before him. Her intellect was great and it truly was a privilege that she had remained at his side in the Brotherhood all these years. And to hear that this was the first place that she had come upon the return of her powers? Well, how could he not feel pride. His smile slightly grew when he felt her lips on his cheek; an embrace he never thought they would share again. And one that he was not ignorant of the impact of. She had returned as a mutant . . . she had returned to him.
He took her hand in it and raised it to his lips, lightly kissing the back of it. "You are right, my dear," he told her, conceding to the fact that he too had failed her. He did not regret nor feel guilt about his decision to leave her when she'd become human. "I failed to protect. Yet you, as always, protected me." And her self sacrificial action had made her a martyr in his eyes. "But let us not dwell in the past of what has happened. Let us make amends and work toward the future. What is important now is that even the 'cure' could not withhold our powers." Humans could not rid themselves of mutants that easily! "What matters is that you have returned, as Mystique." With her abilities in tact. Or so he assumed. "Will you stand by my side once more?" He wanted to -- needed to -- know whether she would rejoin the Brotherhood. For they had been through everything together. And he longed to have her with him in the fight for mutant freedom once more.
She then mentioned Charles. The mere name caused that pang of devastation to tug at his heart, as it never really left, but occasionally surfaced. His friend. His brother. It wasn't until she said that he was alive that the emotions shifted. He looked at her, his eyes slightly widening. While he was a man who often guarded his emotions, the shock and hope he felt at the news caused him not to even bother trying to conceal his surprise in this moment. "He's . . . " Nor did he usually stammer! But to know that Charles lived?! "How?" He suddenly asked as well, for he had seen the man torn to shreds. A sight that he could never remove from his mind. One that haunted him at night. "Have you seen him?" He asked, a desperation in his voice as he dared to hope and allow himself to feel relief and joy upon hearing that his friend was alive and well. "Tell me all you know," he said, not as a demand, but a desperate and almost pleading urge. He needed to know the details. He needed to know for certain that Charles lived.

There was not much that could pull at Mystique's heart strings, but there were certain people that were close enough to her that they could play them like a violin. When he kissed the back of her hand, she knew it was their way of mending what had been severed. The cure was a vile plague on mutant kind. Something to make them just like every other lemming in the world.. but even that wasn't strong enough to keep the two of them down forever.
"Of course I'll stand by your side. Always." She had taken a silent oath when she stepped foot back in to the headquarters of the Brotherhood that she wouldn't leave again. Not unless she'd once more have to. She hoped that day would never again come. She was more than happy to put the past exactly where it belonged, and to never look back.
And now, there was the conversation at hand. The important one, that he needed to know about. "Charles.. he.. He's at a secret facility. I infiltrated it, disguised as a nurse. I couldn't stay for long. My abilities were only just starting to come back, and so they came in spurts. He's growing stronger, Magneto. I can feel it. And now that my abilities are back in full force, I would like to go back. Perhaps to try to speak to him through his telepathy. I want you to come with me, Magneto." She took him by the hands, and clutched them. "I know we could come up with a plan if we work together. I honestly don't think that even his x-men know, unless he has gathered enough strength to reach out to one of them."
She paused for a moment, and then continued. "I tried looking for an antidote to the cure. It led me to your daughter, Wanda. She wanted to know where Charles was in exchange for the information on where the antidote was.. but I refused. I apologize, but she is against you..and my loyalties lie with you, and Charles. No one else." Of course she had worked with the brotherhood, and she would even form an alliance with the x-men if the situation called for it, but her trust was a very hard thing to obtain.

She was with him. That brought a whole new wave of determination to Magneto. While he knew that the Brotherhood would always live, losing Mystique had been a heavy hit to it. He had been with her since she 1963, where she had chosen him, chosen to fight for the cause. Since then, they embarked on every mission together. She had even freed him of his longest imprisonment when wrongfully accused of killing the President. She had been, and always would be, an integral part of the Brotherhood. As Mystique, not as Raven. Yet today, that is who she returned to him as. And words could not express how pleased he felt, nor how much joy swelled in his heart. It was difficult to express this in words, but if anyone was able to read him and understand the array of expressions he held, it was her. For she had known him the longest. He had been with her the longest. He remained attentive as she further explained the truth about Charles. To hear that he was alive . . . well, today truly was a joyous day. For two people he greatly cared about had resurrected. What more could he have ever hoped for? Well, apart from the destruction of the homo sapien race. But that would come with time!
She had seen him, managed to track where he had been held. Not only that, she wanted to return with him. Magneto was already anticipating seeing him, and what better way to do so than with Mystique at his side. For he would not have to attempt to track Charles. She would take him to him. He had so many questions, and yet none of them seemed relevant in this moment. For what mattered was that she was here with him. That Charles was alive. And that she was willing to take him to her. Together. United. He gently squeezed her hands as she held them in her own. "Today is a day that I will remember as bringing me much joy," he admitted. His life had been filled with so much hate, bitterness, anger . . . but today, he would set that aside. He would even set the cause aside. If only to see their brother. "I long nothing more than to see him as well." Even though they were constantly in conflict, Charles would always remain his brother. "How far is this facility?" As she said, they would indeed need to plan on how to get in. But with his returning power and hers as well, he did not doubt they would find a way. After all, they had executed a great many plans when it had just been the two of them. "Then we must not breathe a word of this to anyone until we have seen him." It was not safe to reveal Charles' existence until they knew for certain that human enemies would not take advantage of this opportunity.
It wasn't until Mystique mentioned Wanda that his mood shifted. His daughter. Fatherhood was not exactly a role he had overly embraced, particularly when she chose the other side. However, it was not hearing her name that had caused an anger to build inside Magneto. It was the fact that she had blackmailed Mystique. The fact that she held knowledge of an antidote, yet refused to give it. Who was she to hold such power and withhold it from another who's mutation was forcibly stripped from them? He was ashamed to call her his daughter. For this was a betrayal that he was unsure he could ever forgive. It also had to do with the natural protective instinct he felt for Mystique. She had been with him for so long, so as much as it went against his nature, he could not help but take it as a personal attack. "You have nothing to apologize for," he said, the anger more for Wanda's actions than Mystique's, and he hoped she understood that. Even though 'the cure' was reversible, it had not been known at the time. So anyone who held knowledge of how to reverse it, should have given it freely, not with conditions.
"You made the right choice. Not only for me, but for Charles. As I know you always do." For she cared for them both, he was well aware of that. And she would not do anything to compromise either one of them. "I will exchange words with her regarding this, unforgivable act of blackmail." He was not going to suppress his disapproval. For as Mystique said, Wanda was against him. And her actions showed how against mutants she was. It shamed him. Truly shamed him. His hand pulled from hers and raised to gently rest on her cheek. "Never fear my doubt in your decisions. I trust you emphatically." He wanted her to know how proud he was of her for refusing to reveal Charles' location, and he wanted her to know that.

Mystique was naturally pleased at the joyous news that she brought to Magneto, but she was also aware that it was going to take work to get inside of where Charles was being held. The only thing that made her feel better was the fact that he wasn't being tested on, or anything of the such. It was, for all intents and purposes, a hospital. A very large, very sterile, very protected hospital. And on the other side of the coin, she also knew that she was bringing him bad news on the front of his daughter, Wanda.
"I began to turn. My skin started to turn blue as we spoke of the cure, and she touched my hand. She told me the cure was merely suppressing my abilities. I think that perhaps she was afraid to admit it." She would have defended Wanda further, but as she knew that the Scarlet Witch was against Magneto, she simply couldn't bring herself to be a turn coat. "Try not to think about her, Magneto," She spoke softly. "Focus on what's in front of you. Me, taking you to see Charles once more." A smile - one of the first genuine smiles that she wore in quite some time - curved on to her lips.
"The facility, or dare I say 'hospital' that he's in currently, is not far from the mansion. I have my theories of who could have possibly taken him there." Of course her theories could have been far out of whack.. "Jean Grey. I believe she has something to do with it. After all, she was the cause of his..." She swallowed a lump that formed in her throat. "Demise, when she was under the reign of the Phoenix. If she sensed, when it was over, that he was still alive, I believe that her medical expertise would have kicked in and she removed him. However, if it was not her.. then there must be a third party whom we don't know of yet. We can make it to the hospital by night fall. You and I could likely get in easier after it closes."

She spoke of how her powers had begun to return as Wanda had spoke of the 'cure'. It of course had merely temporarily suppressed a mutant's powers, but it was the fact that it was against their will. Even if it was temporary, the very name of it 'The Cure' implied that they had something that needed to be cured. It was revolting. And to hear his daughter and blackmailed a mutant in attempt to extract information from her . . . well, Magneto was very displeased. Even though Mystique attempted to ease his anger, it was still strong in Magneto's heart. Of course he managed to calm himself enough to keep it inside and no longer reveal it. Mystique had always had the ability to calm him when those slight -- though infrequent -- moments arose. And here she was once more by his side. "We will focus on Charles for the time being," he agreed. For right now, that was far more important than an estranged Wanda. He was still unable to so easily use the term daughter . . . especially now. He would have to put that thought aside for Mystique was right. The focus should be on Charles right now and getting to him. Dealing with Wanda would have to wait. He listened attentively as she spoke of the facility that he was being held in and it's close proximity to the mansion.
It must have been very well concealed then, but Mystique had already done the necessary research to have located it. Getting in again was an entirely different issue. Especially since his powers were not yet at their full potential. He still grew weak when using them for a long duration of time, or manipulating extremely large objects of metal. Her theory of it being Jean Grey was indeed a possible one, based on sound logic. "Wolverine struck The Phoenix, enough to make her fall," Magneto stated, revealing to Mystique what he had witnessed the battle. "Perhaps she has now reverted to her former self." Magneto had never wanted Jean to be controlled; to withhold her true potential. But Charles had made the decision, and unfortunately, over two decades later, it had cost him his life. Or so he thought. "Jean had always been a mutant of great power. Anything is possible with her." Her abilities should never have been suppressed. "Where is the best point of entry?" He asked. "My powers are, not quite yet to their full potential." He hated admitting that; but he trusted Mystique with it. Anyone else however, he would not so easily admit that his power was lacking. He said it so that they could form a plan that did not overly use his abilities, and perhaps hers if she was still regaining her powers. He however had been struck with multiple syringes so he feared it would take longer for him.

A wave of relief washed over Mystique when Magneto decided to focus on Charles for right now. The time for fighting would be upon them again soon enough, and Magneto didn't need any more distractions of anger. It was a time to think, concentrate, and worry about tasks at hand.. not to mention, it was a time to bask in the glow that Charles Xavier was alive. For no matter what came between them, they were family at the core. When Magneto spoke of Wolverine killing Phoenix, Mystique gave a small nod. "He killed the Phoenix, and she managed to rise again.. Jean Grey is too stubborn to stay dead. Her and Charles really do have very much in common." Her wit managed to stay with her throughout the years, at least.
"The best point of entry is simple. It will have to be through the main doors. I'll find you a doctor's uniform, complete with a surgical mask. We will have to find a way to hide until it is time for the medical staff to switch rounds at midnight. The doctor and nurses on staff will of course have to take a little nap for awhile, but it will be long enough for us to at least see, and hopefully speak to Charles. We won't have long.. possibly an hour tops. And that's if we're lucky, but at least it will be something." It was clear that she had done recon on the situation. "He has a window outside of his room with a fire escape that leads to the roof where a helicopter sits. That will be our way out."
