He couldn't withhold a smile as she concluded that it was metal he could control. "You are correct," he confirmed. "I control all forms of metal," he further explained and confirmed. She may not know he was one of the most wanted men in the world, so she was unaware of the specificities of his gift. However, she now had figured it out. And he was glad for it. As it meant she was greatly paying attention to the details. His smile remained when she stopped denying what she was, and instead, questioned his reason for asking. Her questions were fair and completely understandable. "It is not a matter of what I will do to you," he began to say. "But rather, what others will do to you." Others, like those who were coming at some point to take her away for no other reason apart from the fact that she was a mutant. He knew now would be the best time to explain his motives so she would understand that there was more to his presence. He had already rejected the more common reason a man was in her company. Now, it was time to reveal the truth. And if there was one thing Magneto was not, it was a man who lied. "I am not the only one aware of your gifts," he started to tell her.
"There are others who know. And those particular individuals are far less kind in their motives." He paused for a moment, knowing he would have to avoid getting into a complex discussion about his views and politics -- for now anyway. "Many humans strive to understand our powers. They intend to capture you and experiment on you to further discover your abilities." Like a lab rat. It was the harsh reality of how mutants were treated in this world; one that Magneto desperately wished to alter. "I came here with the hopes of finding you before they did." And he had succeeded. "I ask nothing from you, apart from you allowing me to help." By stopping the cruelty of humanity. Later, there may be an opportunity to explain the Brotherhood, but for the time being, he was minimal in the information he offered her, for he knew it was a great deal to process and wanted to give her the chance to do so. "If you confide in me, I can better help you," he added, wanting her to know that his inquiries of her powers were not because he wished to use them against her; quite the opposite in fact.

Ashni smiled pleased that he had confirmed her suspicion that he could only control metal.
"It is not a matter of what I will do to you," he began to say. "But rather, what others will do to you."
For her that seemed a threat. "Others?" she asked as he started to explain. "Humans...you say that like a title. Like you are not human." Like I am not a human.
"Many humans strive to understand our powers. They intend to capture you and experiment on you to further discover your abilities."
She paled "Experiment on me? How? Why?" It was a stupid question he just answered why but it spilled out of her none the less. "What kinds of experiments? What do you gain by helping me?" she shook her head it didnot make sense to her "You saved me on accident fourteen years ago, then you could have cared less about a scared little girl. What has changed?" She met his eyes challengingly. "You dont want my body or my skills, so what do you gain? My 'powers' as well? I dont believe in something for nothing."

He listened to her as she questioned the varying race between humans and mutants. "We are born with a specific gene that causes our mutation and incredible abilities," Erik began to explain. He spoke of the mutation as it was a positive thing rather than a negative one. "It separates us from humans. So now in this world, there are two races: mutants and homo sapiens, or humans." Clearly, they were the superior ones. Though he had previously stated this, he spoke it again, further attempt to allow the words to register in her mind. "You and I are part of the mutant race," he added, once again, ensuring his tone and word selection made it sound as if it was a privilege -- which of course it was. Questions continued to flow from her, which was entirely understandable. She asked how and why they would experiment on her; and she questioned why he would help her. Ah yes. The concept of reciprocity. Erik had been asked this many times before and it was of course justified. People always had their own personal agendas. She was also right in that all those years ago, he had not cared about saving her life; he had been focused on interrogating -- and ultimately killing -- the man that she had been associated with and so she just so happened to be there.
Any assistance he had given her was unintentional. Of course now, it was entirely different. He had come to this place specifically for her. "I do not ask for anything in return," he began to tell her. He knew these words would not be so easily believed as everyone grew suspicious of such leniency. So he would need to further explain. "For your existence is reward enough." It was not a statement of flirtation and he ensured his tone was void of any suggestiveness. Just in case, he further elaborated. "I have made it my life's mission to fight for our rights as mutants. We are constantly hunted like animals by others, seeking to learn of our gifts as well as wanting to eliminate us from the earth as they feel threatened by our superior powers." This was where the Brotherhood came into play. "So believe me when I say that my approaching you today and warning you of this threat, is not to gain something from you." Granted, his mind was always on high alert for recruiting others, but that only came with ease of acceptance from the other person of his views. He could not force it upon another to accept the role of a Brotherhood mutant. "It is an act I partake in to prevent a fellow mutant from being harmed." From being a prisoner in this war and murdered because of it.

She listened silently as he spoke explaining that they were a different race then the rest of humanity. Or at least he believes that...i wonder how much is true? Ashni shook her head, a paladin? Is that what he thought of himself? A man on a crusade to save people like them? "Are there that many with...powers? With this mutation?" she ran a finger around the rim of the table as she sat, her posture unconsciously still seductive too many years of training held her habits in that lean. She pursed her lips. "How would you 'save' me?" she asked curious. Any other man and she would suspect to offer to take her as a kept woman, but he had made it very clear he had no desire for her. "You and I are not of the same place in the world." Either money or racially....except if he was telling the truth and they were now part of a larger race.... "You flaunt your power, do you not fear? Are you so strong to hold everyone away from you?" she asked leaning back at last to run her eyes over him, again the habitual hint of heat, but now there was a much clearer sense of the woman behind the seducer. Logical, calm, and slightly sad but a product of her environment and upbringing. She really didnt see a way out of her life EXCEPT as a mistress to a more powerful man. No matter that she had deeper dreams, that she kept hidden even from her self at times. That she craved an education that was simply beyond her reach. She had had to survive on native intelligence and luck for her entire existence.

She questioned as to whether there were many who possessed gifts like them, and such a question had an easy answer. "Yes," he confirmed. "More than you may assume." More than he even knew. For more and more of them came forward. Their powers being exposed either willingly or against their will. In Ashni's case, it was clearly against her will. But this is what Magneto wished to show others. That they should embrace their gifts and with it, they would be able to better protect themselves against the threat of humans. Usually if they accepted that mentality, then Magneto could further convince them to join the Brotherhood. But it did not always work that way. She then asked how he would save her and wondered if she was speaking longer term of short term. "I will start by eliminating the direct threat against you which I expect will reveal itself tonight sometime." He paused for a moment, finding it much more convenient that they were in a slightly more private area so that those who came here to take her would be more obvious.
"But it also depends on how you want to be saved," he further added. He did not see himself as a savior, but right now, he was talking about helping her. She was right. They were not of the same world. "But we are of the same race," he said and that was enough to create a strong bond between them; a solid link. "I did not come to take you away from your life here," he told her, not wanting her to think that was his true intentions. "But if you wish to escape, then I will help you do so." He was unsure how much of her being here in this occupation was out necessity and how much was out of desire. She may have willingly chose this life, but was it because she saw herself as having no other option? She then asked whether he was afraid for he used his powers so openly. "I do not fear my powers," he told her, which was something he often tried to deter other mutants from feeling. "No mutant should have to fear their powers." Under the proper guidance and acceptance, they could embrace them.
But that was not the way society taught them; they made them feel afraid and fearful for their lives just because they possessed unique gifts. "I lead a group of fellow mutants called The Brotherhood. We fight against the threat of humans and the persecution they place upon our kind." He knew there was no danger revealing this information to her. Many knew of his politics and of The Brotherhood. He was however, refraining from giving any details of their location. That was more closely guarded to protect his brothers and sisters. He would allow that to sink in, allowing her the opportunity to ask more questions if need be. He knew what he was telling her was a great deal, especially since she had not been exposed to the mutant world prior to this conversation.

"Eliminating...as you did the men so many years ago?" She was no stranger to violence since he had left. But even so these men came to take her the soft part of her soul cried out against needless death. "Is that necessary? No other way?" she asked softly, wondering if she offended him. After all he had come here with apparently the express purpose to save her. He had no responsibility to her except what he imposed on himself. She bit her lip an uncharacteristic expression of uncertainty, that she had tried for years to suppress. "What would you do to help me 'escape' here." her bangles chimed as she waved her hand to encompass the quarter. Ashni's mind raced trying to think beyond her limited world, she had no real concept of what her options were if she left. What the world was like, "I only know one profession." she said quietly. "If I leave....I'd not wish to ply it." but what else could she do to earn her keep? "If I had to...well at least here I know who and what I am. I am known and have a place." and if she had to be a whore outside the quarter...what was the point? She would gladly be his mistress for he had impressed her again with his character, but if he didnt want that? He spoke of a Brotherhood, she shivered, Ashni had seen religious fanatics, and to be put to work among them to earn her keep? She straightened her back, she was MORE then a camp follower! Pride filled her features, she was Wanda Ashni Bedi, and perhaps she was uneducated but she KNEW who she was!

She spoke of what he had done to the men before, and then asked whether it was necessary. Magneto remained calm, rather used to these type of conversations -- more so when he conversed with those outside of his Brotherhood circle. "It is," he told her. The idea of killing someone was not something that everyone was comfortable with. "For they will not stop hunting others like us, unless they are dead." If not her, then they would continue to find another. "If we allowed them to live, then would you ever feel safe, knowing they were alive and may come for you again?" He asked, not meaning it as an entirely rhetorical question. He was asking her based on a very natural feeling of fear; of one feeling unsafe because of a looming threat that haunted them. There was no closure if they lived, and that fear would always exist. Perhaps one day even being proved true by their return. She then asked what he would do to help her escape from here, going on to say that she knew of only one profession.
He was still trying to determine whether she wanted to leave, or whether she knew how to leave. It was one thing to physically depart from a place, but walking away from a lifestyle and all that had become rather natural and normalized for her . . . well, he could understand the difficulty in that. Which was why he would not place any pressure on her either way. "Is there nothing more that you want from life?" He asked her, knowing it was a deep and perhaps loaded question, but asked it regardless. "Is this how you always envisioned your life to be?" Surely there was something more she desired from life. Even if she just dared to dream about it. "As I said, I am not trying to take you from here against your will. But if you wish to leave and experience what else this world has to offer, then know that I can provide you a way out of here." It was her decision to make. He had the transportation necessary to cross countries borders . . . after all, he needed a sophisticated method of transportation for being one of the most wanted men in the world forced him to be very meticulous in his travel plans.

Ashni chewed her lip thoughtfully. "Who are these people? The government? or a gang?" she asked trying to determine the scope of the threat. "And even if you kill them...wont there be more?" Her mind was trying to expand enough so see outside of her little pocket of the world. But it was extremely hard for her, "I did once dream..." she muttered. Of leaving of getting a real education, she read everything she could get her hands on but in this time and place that wasnt very much.
"How would you help me?" she asked again needing details, her life was in his hands and as altruistic as he seemed to wish to be, she had to be realistic, had to know how she was to survive. And WHERE.

She asked whether it was a government or a gang, another fair question. "It is a group of scientists part of a private organization." That was all he knew. He was unsure of how many of them there were -- which was something he hoped to find out tonight from them. She then questioned as to whether there would be more after this, or well stating that there would be and thus implying that it was redundant killing them. "Yes. There undoubtedly will be. Which is why opposing them and retaliating against them is an ongoing process. But each threat we eliminate, is one less we need concern ourselves with." Such was the way of war and battle. Besides, it meant one less mutant that would be in danger because of one more human that they eliminated.
She seemed to be about to say something about what she wanted from life . . . but then stopped herself and asked again how he would help her. "I have already told you," he began to say. "My extent of assisting you is dependent on what you want. And in order to know that, you must answer my questions rather than ask me how it is I can help you. In order for me to plan to help you, I need to know how you want to be helped." He had already told her that he would keep her from harm tonight against those men. But as he had said before, he needed her to tell him whether she wanted to leave here or stay. Because both would have very different plans of action. And if there was one thing that Magneto did, it was plan for every contingency and strategize. "What was it that you dreamed? Is it relevant to your future and what you want from life?" A question that he had already asked yet one that she had not directly answered.

He wanted more answers from her, asking her to expose inner most wants. Fine. "I wanted to be a doctor." she said almost defiantly, crossing her arms defensively, she knew it was a silly dream from a silly girl. She was too old and uneducated to even pretend in her imagination that it was possible anymore. "When these men come will they hurt the other girls?" she asked, she had the feeling the wellbeing of the women in the house was less then nothing to him, but for her this was her family, these girls she was taking care of to an extent.
Ashni forced her posture back from being so combative. "If I leave now...will they hurt them to find out where i am?"

She spoke of how she wanted to be a doctor, and did not find that to be a ridiculous dream. The fact that she envisioned her life to be something beyond what it was, showed that she did not want this life for herself. But rather, that she had done it out of necessity as oppose to want. She then asked whether the others would be harmed to get to her. "Not unless we permanently eliminate the threat." Which is what he had been referring to before; the reason they would have to be killed rather than merely just stopped and set them on their way.
"Once they realize you are no longer here, I doubt they will fixate their efforts to finding you. The organization will either seek out another mutant, or cease their activities. Most likely the former." They would most probably just find another mutant to hunt down. If they were not a government funded organization then they would not have the resources to focus their search on her specifically. Especially once they knew who had come here to stop them. "So what is it that you wish to do?" He asked her directly.

Ashni chewed her lip thoughtfully not bothering to stop the habit this time. "If I leave they are safe. " she said thinking out loud. "And you are on a crusade to help other...mutants." she was still hesitant to use the word. "I escape and put another one like us in danger." she shook her head, she might not know this theoretical other mutant, but she still had compassion and empathy for another life torn apart. Ashni nodded making her choice. "I will go, but." she raised a henna stained finger. "I want to make sure the girls will be safe. And." she took a breath looking around the room this might be the last time she was here... "I want to help protect others like us." admitting finally that they were the same.
Ashni stood sweeping her saree out of the way, already pulling her jewlery off her hands, the large ring in her nose was the last to go. "What happens now?"
She was already planning on what items to take, how to pack, how to say good bye.

Magneto listened quietly as she seemed to consider the possibilities and outcomes of each option. She acknowledged that he was on a mission to help others, and then decided that she wanted to go. He gave a small nod but she continued ands he said that not only did she want to leave, but she wanted to join the fight against humans. This was the most ideal outcome. Magneto had come here with the intention of stopping humans, yet in the midst of their conversation, she had decided she wanted to protect others like them. This was most excellent. He smiled, rather pleased, as he rose to his feet, seeing that she was already preparing to leave. "Then we will have a lot to discuss on the way to the United States," he told her, as that was where his current base of operations was.
He of course still had to talk to her, for it was always a risk to bring new mutants into the Brotherhood headquarters. So he had to ensure she could be trusted. But he tended to trust his instinct and it told him that she was not going to betray other mutants. "Why don't you go pack your things and prepare to leave within the hour. In the meantime, I will ensure that the men who came to take you, will not harm anyone else." He did not make it his mission to protect humans, but he was not lying either. For he planned to kill the men anyway, and in doing so, he would stay true to what he had told her. Besides, the humans here were not his targets. The ones who were targeting mutants were. "Where is the best place for you to meet me?" For he was unsure if she was able to freely leave this job, or if she would have to plan to slip away without being seen.

Ashni felt a shiver of excitement, America so very very far from here. From the one world she knew. "In the back courtyard." she responded to his question about where to meet her, her lips quirked, she could almost read his curiosity if she was free to go. "Dont worry about me, I'll see you there in an hour." His killing of the old boss had caused drastic changes, and one of them was that now the girls were much freer, of course in most cases there wasn't any where for them to go was beside the point.
Ashni nodded to him as she left the room, her bedroom was larger then many of the other girls owing to her status among them. She pulled out a duffle bag looking over her things pensively. "Nara." she called to her maid. "I need you to get Latka, Sumi, and my mother." the little girl scampered off. Ashni was putting in all her western clothing, what there was of it, many of her jewels and only a few of her sarees the rest would stay here and help the others. It took most of the hour Erik had allowed her to gather them all and explain. '-No mother I cant tell you were I am going, but I promise its for the best." she tried to calm her near hysterical mother. "I dont trust him! He could be lying to you, trying to take you for his own!" Latka was the pessimistic one. Ashni was hit was terrible sadness she was almost sure this was the last time she would see them all.
Ashni was waiting for Erik when he came out into the courtyard duffle at her feet, she was dressed in her one of her few western outfits, cut off jeans and a tanktop. "What now?" she asked again, Ashni would be brash and confidant no matter what happened now. She had to be.
