Character Basics
.:Name of Character:. Jayden Romero .:Species:. Mutant .:Alias:. Gesga'sit .:Year Born/Timeline:. First Class/Days of Future Past .:Affiliation:. Neutral
Appearance
.:Physical Appearance:. Jayden is of native descent so his skin is tanned, and his eyes are dark brown. He has black hair that he keeps somewhat short which he styles in various ways. His face is a bit narrow, and he has a piercing in each ear. He is rather tall in height and broad in muscles. He often has a smirk on his face, or a look that is just calling someone to come and challenge him.
His style of dress is very casual. He is often dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with a leather jacket on top. Jayden’s gait is confident, and his demeanor may appear as cocky to some, which he certainly can be at times. He also does not exude the most friendly air about him. .:Height:. 6"1' .:Portrayed by:. Alex Meraz
Personality
.:Personality:.Jay is a sarcastic, aggressive, arrogant individual. He gets angry very easily and when he does, it can be difficult to calm him down. His volatile tendencies and lack of sympathy caused him to have a rebellious childhood, and made him get into quite a lot of trouble. While he doesn't overly engage in much conversation, as he is very distrusting of others outside his own culture, and has a short fuse which can result in him mouthing off and eventually encouraging fights, not afraid to throw the first punch. Because of his large size, he is also rather confident when he does engage in them and it does not take a lot for someone to make him snap.
While Jayden has this side to him, he also has a lighter less guarded side but one that only comes out with those he is extremely close to, which is basically limiting to family. He does have a sense of humor and though it may be a sarcastic one, and one that is encouraged by irritating others, it is still there. Those who know him, know what can set him off so sometimes it is just better to let him act in the juvenile ways that he does instead of try to change his mood to a more negative one. He is impatient, stubborn, unsympathetic, seemingly antisocial, and very impulsive. He acts before he thinks which has also landed him in trouble on more than one occasion. He is always ready for a fight, never risking the opportunity to walk away from one. He takes life as it comes, not worried about the consequences of his actions, which goes back to the fact that he is not one to think before he acts. He has few regrets for he usually thinks he is right and/or justified in what he does.
His mutant abilities add to his cockiness as he casually uses it to steal what he needs and does what he wants. He is fiercely loyal and protective of his family, and doesn't talk about them much when he is off the reservation. In fact, he does not talk a lot about his personal life. He often deflects conversation that may lead to that. As well as conversation that involves talking about his emotions and such. .:Powers/Abilities:. Invisibility and Phasing. Jay has the ability to turn invisible and reappear at his own will. With this ability, whatever he touches also turns invisible (i.e. an item he touches, the clothes he wears, anyone he touches etc). He can also phase through solid matter, however can only phase when he is invisible. This includes walls, people, items, etc. He has fairly good control over his abilities, however if there is something unexpected that touches him when he is invisible, then he may not be able to make it invisible as well and thus, reveal his shape. For example, if it starts raining, if someone unexpectedly throws something at him, etc. It can also be draining for him to be invisible and make other things invisible; the same goes for phasing. As well, though he can make his appearance invisible, mutants who are telepathic or who's powers are less physical and more of the mind or heart, would be able to sense another presence for he cannot deflect those powers.
History
.:Birthplace:. United States .:Family:. Mother, five sisters, two brothers, extended family (i.e. cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandfather, etc) .:Occupation:. Construction worker, works for hire .:Current Location of Residence:. The reservation and his own place in the city. .:History:. Jay was born on a reservation in a large family of very simple means. His family struggled to make ends meet, but his people have a strong unity and they function as a cohesive unit, always willing to help other families. The reserve has a fairly decent population, but they lack simple commodities. Their standards of living are fairly poor, as they have no running water, no electricity, etc. Jayden's grandfather is one of the most respected elders on the reserve and it was believed that one day, Jay's father would become that man. Unfortunately, when WWII broke out, his father went to fight and did not come home. This led to more struggles for not only Jayden's family, but for the entire reserve for many of the men went to fight and did not return alive. Because of that, many of them had to find work elsewhere. Jayden joined them looking for work in construction however once he reached the city, be broke off from them and found his own place to work.
He mostly lives in a very small apartment in the city, returning home once every few weeks to check on things, while sending money back for his family. He often is seen as the black sheep of the family, for he seemingly wants no ties to his people. In actuality, part of the reason he left was because of his powers, unable to tell anyone for he had no explanation of it. However, with this time alone, he has managed to get fairly decent control of what he can do and in fact, uses that to his advantage to steal food and money if needed, most of which he takes back to the reserve, everyone assuming that he has just gotten really decent work.
Sample Post
Jay made his way to work, clocking in despite his lack of motivation today. Work was, mundane. It was the same old thing, and he was not oblivious to the discrimination that he faced because of his heritage. While he tended to mouth out, he didn't even bother wasting his breath for these guys. He had other ways to deal with his annoyance. Entering the main area, he clocked in and then went to change. Once inside the locker area, he looked around to make sure no one was inside. He then closed his eyes and channeled his energy into disappearing, literally. It didn't take him long to do with how much practice he had gotten, but he looked in front of the mirror just in case. No reflection. Perfect.
He then walked through the door rather than opening it, making his way right back out the way he had just come. He was hungry, not having had time to eat this morning. There was a convenience store just down the street and so he casually walked down there, walked through the door, and grabbed a bag of chips and a chocolate bar. All of which disappeared upon his holding of them. He even saw some random woman do a double take and walk over near where he was standing, screaming something about having sworn she saw something disappear into mid air. Moron. Ray then took his time, walking back to work, eating the chips which caused whomever to pass him, look around. He even heard someone say 'do you hear that crunching?'. Idiots.
Though Jayden was rather amused by it. By the time he got back to work he had finished his breakfast though did not make his presence known quite yet. He saw the site they were supposed to be working and he saw his boss there. "Where's Romero?!" He demanded, the other worker just shrugging his shoulders. "Dunno boss! Haven't seen him." Jay just walked right passed his boss and began climbing up the ladder. "Well his bike is out there!" His boss yelled up at him. "Like I said boss, haven't seen him." At this point, Jayden was standing on the other side of the guy, taking a few steps further down and then turning around. He then closed his eyes, not that anyone could see him do so, and made himself reappear. "What the hell are you talkin' 'bout? I'm right here." The worker did a double take, while his boss looked between Jayden and the other worker. This was fun because it made the worker look like a complete imbecile. He started stuttering, clearly unable to comprehend how he had gotten here. Too bad for him. "Just get to work both of ya," their boss stated before he walked away. Jayden flashed a cheeky grin at his co-worker at which point he heard the man mutter 'Asshole' before turning away to continue his work.
