The woman soon enough turned to look at him. She had started to say something, but paused. Big freakin' surprise. Toad rolled his eyes at her reaction. He expected that from humans, but come on now! From mutants? Really. She regained her wits about her, going on to talk about how she did not like it when she interrupted. "Well maybe I don't like it when ye stare," he countered. Both things were rude, even he agreed to that. "I mean, bloody 'ell, you got one bloke over there with spikes comin' out of 'is face, another there with green 'air, and that one who's got fangs. And yer starin' at me?" His voice wasn't angry. It was just bitter.
He had thought that among mutants, he wouldn't have to deal with the staring. Maybe one day he would have fun with it like he did with humans. But today was not that day. He was still recovering over the trauma of flipping burgers in a country that was as hot as hell. "Why don't I give ya somethin' to actually stare at," he began to say. With that, he extended his tongue to one of the packages which was ten feet away. He curled it around and pulled it toward him, dropping it in front of her before he brought his tongue back in his mouth. There. How was that for a show?

Toad was back in the glorious country of the United States of America. Emphasis on the sarcasm placed on glorious. Because it was the country that he had decided to fight for, and the one that had betrayed him by trying to send him to a lab for 'testing'. Experimenting was more like it. But now, he was here for an different reason. Not to serve the country, but a man within it. He, like millions of others he supposed, had seen the speech that someone like them had given. Toad had decided that this could be his calling. So he booked it out of a country that was too hot for its own good and came back here. He wasn't sure where to go though. He figured a fugitive wasn't going to be easy to find, so he would have to do some digging and networking.
Great. Just bloody great.
He came across one of the mutant shelters (which he knew about because this was where he had sometimes spent the night himself before he had enlisted in the army). It was still busy as usual. Same idea of mutants coming in for a safe place to go. But really, was there anywhere safe for them anymore? Sure didn't seem like it. He was dressed in his layers, a hoodie on top though he didn't bother hiding any part of his face. He was used to the stares he got from other people, and in his bitterness, he often just stuck his tongue out at them. His very long, very green, tongue. That was enough to make them look away, or runaway. Whichever one that particular idiot decided to react with. He looked around, trying to see who was in charge. His search had begun at one shelter, to another, to another. And now he was here, needing to find the next one. He guessed this was the way to track down another mutant: ask a dozen of 'em where he could be found. Seeing a woman who was handing out food, he began to walk up to her. "Oye," he greeted, approaching the woman. "Was wonderin' if you knew them shelters like this one, 'round 'ere." More than this one. He knew there were lots, but he wasn't going to waste his time asking someone if this was the only one they knew. ( Lana Kane )

Toad hated his life. He was in a fast food joint, flipping burgers, in a country that was too damn hot. People either looked at him weird for his looks, which he was used to, or looked at him perplexed because of his displaced accent. It was British! But these morons seemed to not have a lot of English people in their midst. Apparently. He could barley understand the owner at times. Even then, the idiot got on his nerves. But what else could Toad do? Where else could he go? The simple answer: no where. He was destined to take these odd jobs here and there it seemed. He pulled off the hat and net they forced him to cover his hair with and threw it on the counter. "I'm goin' for a smoke break," he mumbled as he passed the head cook. "You don't smoke, Morty!" The man reminded him. God. He hated being called that. Mortimer was his name. Mort for short even wasn't dreadful. But Morty? He knew he did it just to annoy him. The same way Toad took 'smoke breaks' every five minutes, even though he didn't smoke. He just needed to get out of there.
Stepping outside wasn't a lot better. It was hot. Humid. Like walking from one oven to another. He leaned against the wall, thinking of how his life had ended up here. Bitter at the world. He had tried so hard to be accepted and he was constantly rejected or punished for it. He was done trying to prove himself. He took off his goggles and tucked them into the pocket of his apron. He saw a shadow approaching, and it did not take long for the figure to come into view. Oh. Look at that. A pretty little girl, prancing around. Alright. The prancing part was a slight exaggeration since she had casually walked up to him. Maybe a little too casually now that he thought of it. By the time people saw his face, they were usually caught of guard and some were less subtle about it than others.
"Hello? Is the food any good here?" Toad sharply but slightly turned his head to the side and spit on the ground, revealing a bright green thick mucus substance. He purposely did it because, well, who would want to eat food made by someone who spit out such a green substance? He was purposely trying to gross her out. He then looked back at her. "No," he answered bluntly, revealing his accent. What did he care if this godforsaken place lost customers? It was not sweat off his back. Besides, he didn't plan on being here in this place very long. He hoped. "I make it with my sweat, spit an' tears." Instead of sweat, blood and tears, get it?! Well he thought he was funny, even though he said it dead serious. Making it sound like he literally made it with all those things. He was just trying to turn her stomach off from coming to this place. Besides, it meant one less person he had to serve.

Hello. My name is Toad. I was born in York, England in a year that I will not disclose. I like leaping on people to squish them, eating pigeons and ballet... apparently. Anyway, I am open for posting with anyone who would like to plot with this green haired beauty creature. I have him traveling the world for most his life, enlisting in the war, running off with others, working in a fast food joint that he hates, and then joining the Brotherhood (after Magneto's speech). If anyone is interested, hit me up either with a message, or even just by replying to this thread.
Cheers!

(Place IMG of Character Here) Character Basics
.:Name of Character:. Mortimer Toynbee .:Species:. Mutant .:Alias:. Toad .:Year Born/Timeline:. All of them? According to the movies, starts in Days of Future Past. .:Affiliation:. Brotherhood
Appearance
.:Physical Appearance:. He displays toad-like characteristics as he has light green skin and dark green, short, spiked hair and a piercing in each ear. He has a couple of warts on his face (the most distinct one is located on his forehead) and a 13 foot long tongue, which is later explained as it has to do with part of his mutant abilities. He has a bit of a muscular build, but it is difficult to notice as he dresses in many layers. He dresses in comfortable clothing as he needs to be wearing something that allows him to move freely. He is usually garbed in many layers, including a couple of hoodies, a vest, and possibly another sweatshirt on top. He often crouches, or sits hunched over as that is his most comfortable posture. He can also be seen wearing his goggles. Because of his amphibian appearance, he also ages differently so his exact age is unknown. .:Height:. 5"10 .:Portrayed by:. Ray Park
Personality
.:Personality:. Toad is very sarcastic. He often makes such remarks demonstrating his sarcasm and humor, though some may not appreciate his own, unique sense of humor. When he was younger, and was ridiculed for the way he looked, he was very quiet and shy, which led people to believe that he was mentally inferior, when in reality, he was, and still is, extremely intelligent. He possesses a lot of knowledge, but because he is a creature of few words, few people know of this. On that note, he is still rather quiet and only speaks when he feels he has something clever, witty, or sarcastic to say.
Toad is very spontaneous. He may do strange, unexpected things. An excellent example of this is dancing during a 'fight' with a member from the X-Men team. Toad enjoys this as he likes to confuse people with his actions. He usually gets what he needs to get done, making him task orientated, but having some fun in the process. He often has a strange, sinister, smile...or smirk, whichever you would like to call it, as his expression. He is violent, able to kill without any hesitation, but does not kill needlessly. He does it with a purpose as he strongly believes in the goals of the Brotherhood.
Toad is very intelligent when it comes to technology and science, and is able to build and control advance and complex machines/devices however, once he builds something, it is difficult for him to advance that product into something greater. He also has acquired the knowledge centered around machines to do things like pilot a helicopter. He has undergone training so that he now has complete control over his mutant abilities and is able to use them to his advantage. Being a former soldier in the military, he also has basic military training, which includes survival skills. As well as basic hand to hand combat skills, something that he has further trained in while being part of the Brotherhood .:Powers/Abilities:. Possesses Toad-like characteristics. Toad possesses superhuman leap strength and distance and enhanced balance, reflexes, coordination His ability to leap at superhuman lengths is his primary mutant ability. This allows him to travel much further and higher in a shorter amount of time, than a regular human being. It can also cause him to literally squish someone if he lands on them from a significant distance.
Toad also has a very flexible spine, allowing him to remain in a crouching position comfortably for hours, though he can stand if he wishes. He also has gained the ability to extend his tongue great distances and grasp objects and people with it. His tongue has extreme strength; strong and tough to the extent that it can kill someone by squeezing them, causing them to be crushed to death. His tongue is 13 feet long, which is why he is able to extend it at such long distances.
He is also able to secrete an adhesive resin from his hands and feet which enables him to climb up walls among other things. He also has an ability to secrete paralyzing mucus, which is emitted from his mouth. Toad also possessed the ability to psionically communicate with amphibian life. .:Weakness:. Toad does not blend in well. He can not camouflage or blend in with the general public because of his physical appearance. His limitations all involve the energy it may take. While many if his powers are natural, his secretion of adhesive resin can only be created every so often (usually not a lot at one time). His ability to communicate with amphibian life is also limited, especially since he doesn't reside in a swamp or anywhere that he would have access to such creatures. He must be in their presence in order to communicate with them.
History
.:Birthplace:. York, England .:Family:. Unknown, was placed at an orphanage right after he was born .:Occupation:. Former soldier, former chef, currently member of the Brotherhood .:Current Location of Residence:. Wherever the Brotherhood is .:History:. Mortimer Toynbee was born in York, England and was quickly abandoned by his parents for his hideous appearance, as his toad-like qualities were with him at birth. They put him in an orphanage, where he spent many years and where he was constantly tormented by other children due to his ugliness and strangely shaped body. Needless to say, he was different than majority of the children and he was constantly reminded and teased of this fact. He was ostracized, and was considered to be mentally inferior due to his extreme shyness and mild learning disabilities during his primary school years. In reality though, he was actually quite intelligent.
He dropped out at an extremely early age and decided to fend for himself. Based on years of abuse and knowing full well he was a freak, Mortimer developed a severe inferiority complex, becoming indebted to anyone that showed him the slightest bit of affection. He was not used to people showing kindness to him and so when he received it, he either thought they had ulterior motives and were further ridiculing him, or he ran away too afraid to find out.
Throughout his ventures, he traveled around the world, where he believed he could have a fresh start. Unfortunately, the issue of 'mutants' and their unacceptable existence in most all societies were still present. Toad was still made fun of and feared for his ugly appearance and so felt that he was right back where he started.
Still, he fought to be accepted. With this being his ultimate goal, he decided to enlist in the army during the Vietnam war. He hoped that by doing this and proving his loyalty, society would accept him. Unfortunately, things happened way differently. He was set aside along with a few other soldiers, and it became known that they were going to be sent to a medical facility, to be tested on. This infuriated Toad, to know that despite his best efforts, he was still seen as a freak and allowed to be experimented on. He fought against the army and thanks to Mystique, escaped from near capture.
He fled elsewhere, finding a job as a cook, which he hated, but it was all he could do to make money and find some degree or normality in his life. It wasn't until he saw Magneto's speech that he became intrigued in the Brotherhood. He felt inspired and decided to join the fight against humans. When going there, he felt immediately accepted and this caused him to become a very loyal member of the brotherhood for all the years to come.
Sample Post
Bloody hell, this was fun. He owed Magneto one for giving him this wonderful job. The mutant sometimes let Toad be creative. This was one of those cases. His instructions: get rid of security. Toad's methodology: leap from man to man and squish them to the ground. It was fun! Almost like that whack-a-mole game only they weren't comin' back. This was why he liked The Brotherhood. Well, one of the many reasons. Acceptance had been the big one years ago. But now, it was loyalty and the cause. And his freedom to pull stuff like this. Toad was leaping from man to man, the sound of squashing them like music to his ears. They all deserved to die, really. And everyone had their part to play. Sabertooth was with Magneto. Mystique was inside to stop the spandex loving team. Speaking of which... Toad was supposed to meet her there. He best hurry.
After eliminating the security, he looked at the field, the ground stained with blood and guts. Beautiful. Toad took a bow, to no one in particular but himself, before he looked to the building. His mind quickly assessed the best course of entry since he had to be right there waiting for them. Instead of following them from behind. No matter. Where there was a will, there was a way. He looked toward one of the balconies and lowering himself for a second, then leaped up to easily land on the ledge of it. He then kicked open the door, even closed it behind him, and ran to the main entrance. He and Mystique would be quite the welcome party for the X-Men, and he couldn't wait to take them down.
