Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION This was perhaps Erik's worst nightmare come true. The only thing that prevented it from being utter devastation, was that Nina lived. That the arrow had just missed her, and nicked her skin though not lethally. Still, the same could not be said for =her mother. Magda. Erik knew that with her death, he lost a piece of his heart. The anger felt towards the others enough to send him in a mode of rage, killing them all. In front of his daughter. But he was still processing everything, and perhaps would for a long time to come.
Right now, his priority was getting Nina to a safe place, and there was only one location he could think of: Charles' home. A place that was now a school for mutants. He had arrived, explained everything to him, and he saw the pain of the loss on his friend's face. They would discuss it in more length later, right now, he needed to get Nina to a room, had some fresh clothes to put on, and get her a meal. He had carried her the entire time, reluctant to put her down until they got to a room where everything was already waiting for them. Finally setting her down, he crouched in front of her, putting a hand on her cheek.
"This is a safe place," he assured her, but even he knew it would not last forever. Truth was, he didn't even know what else to say to her. What did he say to his beloved daughter who had lost her mother? Who had been killed right in front of her eyes? "I'm so sorry," he said, trying to fight back the tears as he leaned forward to kiss her forehead. His attempt was to no avail as he knew his eyes were moistening. But, what else could he say? No words nor actions could ease the pain of what they had lost: of who they had lost.

She didn't want to be here. She missed her home and wanted her Mama. Here in America there was too many people and everything was so far away. It took forever to get here and everything was so different. She'd never been around a lot of people and this school was so filled with everyone moving around and bouncing around. It was so busy that she clung to her father, not wanting to talk to anyone. She missed her Mama, and knew that she would never see her again.
Her father put her down, and she didn't want to let him go. She wan't ready to be put down and not be held, but she didn't say anything. Her Daddy kissed her and said sorry. Nina blinked up at him. She wanted him to pick her back up and take her back home. She looked back at the room and then turned to her Daddy and stepped back into his arms to hold his neck.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik held on to his daughter, all too aware that this was all he had left in the world. The only family he had left. He wasn't sure where to go from here. How could he raise Nina on her own? She needed her mother, yet the reality of that not being an option, broke Erik's heart. But right now, he knew he had to be strong for his daughter.
Holding her against his chest for several moments, he eventually lifted her up and moved to sit on the bed, with her in his lap. "I know this place is very different," he began to say, brushing a stand of her hair back and tucking it behind her ear. "But it's a very good place." It wasn't their previous house, and despite all of Charles' offers, Erik couldn't see himself living here. But it was as he had told Magda: they were Nina's home. And now, it was just him. So if Nina liked it enough to stay, he would do that for her.

Pap took her over the to bed and held her there. Nina held him back, needing to feel him close to her in order to feel safe right now. Men had tried to take Papa away, but instead they had taken Mama away from them. Everything was too loud here, and she missed her bed room. "I want to go home," she asked, knowing in a way that they couldn't, but wanting to go where there was memories of her Mama too.
There was nothing here she knew. No signs of Mama, no wood for Papa to chop, no animals to be her friends. The kids here were older, and she hadn't seen their parents here. Did parents not live here too? Would Papa not stay here too? That was another reasons he held on to him. She didn't want him to leave her either. "There are no animals here." She told him, not needing to look around to know. She'd heard a dog in her mind, an there had been a fish, and a mouse--but they were pets and not her's to play with. Nothing else was here. No deer, no bunnies, no chickens. The farm was gone. Mama was gone.

Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Home. In one of the last conversations he'd had with Magda, she spoke of how this was their home; Nina's home. And he had responded by saying that they were her home. "Home is where your family is," he told her softly, encouragingly. He knew this wasn't easy for her, and wished that it had been him and not Magda. Neither his wife, nor daughter deserved this. They had done nothing wrong and yet, were the ones who paid the price.
"We'll find animals here," he promised. There was a wooded area surrounding the school, so he was determined to find some friends for Nina . . . knowing that she must be feeling the loss of them. From going to an environment with all animals, to a place that was mostly populated with people. "And you can make new friends," he tried to say encouragingly, though knew he was probably failing. He didn't know how to do this. He didn't know how to console his daughter over the loss of her mother. No child should have to endure this kind of a loss.

Still sitting on the bed, in Papa's lap, Nina kept looking around. Home is where her family was, but Mama wasn't here! She wanted to be with Mama AND Papa. She knew Mama wasn't coming back, but she still wanted it. She didn't like this place, and wanted t be somewhere better. Too many people was here every time they walked out of the room someone wanted to make her feel better by talking to her. She just wanted to be away from it all.
"Will we stay here?" She asked, wondering what was going to happen. Nina wanted to know what was happening. Ever since Mama died they had kept going and going and she didn't know what was happening. Is this their home now or would they move again?
