Magneto had gone and got himself locked up. Well, of course Mystique was going to help him to the best of her ability, but she needed to find some answers for herself. There had to have been somewhere.. some sort of country that accepted mutants for who they were, right? Wrong. It didn't matter where she went, it was all the same thing, only with various levels of sinister punishments that mutants had to deal with.
Pakistan seemed to be a good enough place to go. The sights alone were worth it. This time, she was there for pleasure. She didn't want to be part of any sort of middle eastern mutant uproar, nor did she want to stand out in any way. So, she disguised herself as a tourist with black hair and dark eyes. It was a disguise she kept the entire time that she was there, so eventually, she did get recognized here and there, even though it was only at little market places.
This was her final evening in Lahore, and she planned on having a night on the town, even though she didn't know where all of the interesting spots were, so she walked through the streets of Lahore, hoping that by spying on the locals, she could see where the hot spot in the city was. There had to be some sort of lead on something fun to do. Even if it was a little illegal.

Ashni was relaxing in the back courtyard, dusk and the customers it brought was a few hours off, an amused smile graced her face as she saw the dark hair tourist wander the market again, she really did wonder what she was looking for? Just a trinket? A pretty saree? She shook her head amused as one of the street boys formed a pack they were clearly about to try a brush by pickpocketing. "Scat!" she shouted in Urdu as they started to swarm the girl. Ashni waved her hands at them. "Careful of your purse!" she said in lightly accented english.

There were several boys that were trying to pick pocket her. It was relatively amusing, really. She didn't even have money in her purse. She usually kept it in whatever shoe she was wearing at the time. However, muggers always made her giggle with the way they tried so hard. But before she could mock them, someone came rushing out telling them to scat away.
"Oh, it's okay." Raven laughed. "They weren't gonna get anything out of here." she lifted her purse, opened it, and shook it out. "Nothing there. It's just for show." She smiled. "Thanks though. I really appreciate it. It's my last night here, and if my money and plane ticket were actually in there? That would have been horrible."

Ashni smiled at the white girl, "I have seen you around the past few nights, I have been curious what you are shopping for." she cocked an eyebrow as she showed her empty purse. "I hope you DO have some money?" she smiled not threating, simply curious. Ashni smiled. "If not I can offer you some tea." she finished kindly, gesturing to the courtyard behind her, her bangles jingling merrily with the movement.

"In my shoe," she mused with a lift of her foot and a wiggle of her toes. She followed the woman who looked vaguely familiar.. but she was certain she'd never seen her before. Maybe she had just passed her on the street or something. "But.. tea does sound really good right now. Maybe I'll take you up on your offer." Her disguise made her feel much more at ease in meeting new people. No one knew this one. In this disguise, she was Rachel Witter. Normal girl from Kansas.
"Your bangles are really nice by the way. Oh, and I don't really buy anything exciting. A bracelet here, a necklace there.. and I bought some spices a couple of days ago."

Ashni reclined on a set of cushions, smiling at the girl to the same. "Then why come to Diamond market in Lahore?" she asked pouring another glass of mint tea. "Surely..." she looked her up and down, it was not COMPLETELY unheard of but it was rare. "Oh...perhaps you came for...company?" she blinked slightly languidly. "What is your name?" her smile turned a little bit....warmer. Ashni had no particular desire for women, and she had only once had that sort of patron. But if thats what the girl came to the district for, and honestly there were not many things beyond shopping that they were famous for.

The diamond district. Well, that explained a lot. "The diamond.. district." A smile curved on to her lips. "Really? So that's where I stumbled in to." She quietly laughed. "Go figure. Nope, actually I was mostly just following the crowd. Not really in the market for um." She quirked a brow. "Don't get me wrong, you're really pretty, i'm just not in to the whole girl on girl thing." She waved a hand. "I was just looking for something to do and followed the crowd. Next time maybe I'll make sure that it's not men who I'm following. My name is Rachel, by the way."

Ashni laughed at the girls disclaimers, "Which is fine!" she giggled slightly "Simply wanted to be sure." she winked, smirking slightly. "Just following the crowd? That can be very dangerous." she chided, honestly surprised the girl had not gotten into trouble before now. "For a woman alone."
When she told her name Ashni smiled a bit wider "Good to meet you Rachel, my name is Ashni." she held out her bangle and henna covered hand. "How long were you in Pakistan? What did you come for?"

"I'm pretty good at taking care of myself," she mused with a small smile. She could have strummed a story up about being part of the FBI or something like that, but considering the circumstances all the way around, she decided against it and left it at that. She gently shook the girl's hand and nodded. "It's nice to meet you too, Ashni. I've been here for a couple days.. almost a week."

Ashni looked the girl over, wondering what she meant by being able to take care of herself. She didnt seem to be particularly dangerous "Im sure you could" she demurred.
"What did you come for?" she asked again curious pulling off the cover on a patter of fruit. Ashni loved conversing with tourists, it gave her a window in to the wider world, and if she was lucky they would also bring news that she never heard.

"Just touring," she mused simply. "On vacation. I figured I'd see the sights while I was here." Of course she wasn't going to give away the real reason she was there. That would be just silly. Although, she couldn't really think of many reasons why she'd be hanging out in Lahore. "What about you? I mean.. why are you here in the diamond district?" Obviously she knew the answer to that, but she couldn't believe that such a sweet girl was in the business of giving lonely people 'company'.

A tourist? She really did take a wrong turn to end up here! Wanda chuckled slightly at the thought
"I was born here, I work here." she responded to Rachel's question about what she was doing in the district. Ashni wasn't ashamed of her profession, yes at times she dreamed of a life outside, of learning and being free to choose. But those were a child's dreams, she was very realistic about her probable future. "Have you been enjoying yourself then?" she asked taking a slice of melon in her fingers. "What do you do when not on vacation?" she asked popping it in her mouth.

Questions. Those always seemed to come up, which is why Raven usually stayed away from having them with people. Sometimes it was hard to avoid it though, and she had to make things up. "I'm a journalist." She spoke as though it were the truth. It seemed that this was her go-to when she was traveling around and found herself in a conversation. "I'm actually working on something right now about," she lowered her voice. "Evolved humans. Mutants, as the media refers to them." This was her way of finding out how people felt about them in general. She had even found one or two mutants by trying this method.
"Do you mind if I ask you your thoughts on the subject?" She asked with a small tilt of her head. "Don't worry. It's off record." A warm smile donned her lips. "I'm simply curious."

Ashni pursed her lips "Mutants?" she shook her head "Do you mean people with...defects?" she sounded a bit insulted. Ashni didn't understand what Rachel meant, she had never heard of mutants, even her own power she simple though was...magic. "Evolved humans?" she blinked curious "Can you tell me more?" Ashni's thirst for new knowledge coming to the fore.
This is why Ashni loved talking to new people, learning things form the outside world. She leaned forward eagerly, a happy smile pulling at her lips.

"Defects!?" Now Raven was the one who sounded offended. "No, no, no. Not defects." She quietly laughed, trying to remember to play the part of 'Rachel'. "Abilities. There are people that have genetic mutations that can do amazing things.. Some of them can make fire appear out of mid-air. Other's can read people's minds.. Some can even take forms of other people. It's really magnificent. A beauty to behold. However.. there are of course those that are against these people. It's a very strong debate."
Raven took a deep breath. She wondered what this girl would think of the whole mutant movement. It seemed that she had no idea what they were.. could it be that Pakistan was completely deprived of mutations? Or maybe they were just so deep in to hiding here that no one even know the gift existed.

It was the district, they were devoid of outside information, the few mutants that were not in hiding were either assumed to be witches, or 'circus freaks'. "Magic...you are talking about Magic." she said softly, "I have seen a few people that can do that...but I think you dont mean the street performers." she looked thoughtful. What did that mean that there were others...she had met two men before one that could move things with his mind and another that could create energy... "You know any of these... 'mutants'?" she asked curious. "Are they common? This is known?" she waved to encompass the world in her gesture.
If they were common..then maybe Ashni didn't have to be scared of her own growing magic, of the odd things that happened when she was angry or the nightmares of people exploding in a shower of red sparks.

Magic..well, that could kind of sum it up. "Something like that." She gave the girl a warm smile. "And no.. definitely not street performers. Some might use their gifts for doing that to make some money, but usually..they tend to keep it hidden." When asked if she knew those kind of people, Raven, or rather Rachel, simply nodded. "I do. A few of them, actually." That smile remained on her lips. "There are many out there.. but they keep themselves hidden. Unfortunately, general society is afraid.. they don't understand."
She wondered what this girl would do if she realized that Rachel was a rouse, and that she was actually someone else. Would she be one of the people carrying a torch and pitchforks? Or did she actually find someone to fight for the cause like she would? Perhaps this was even another mutant, hiding out, waiting for someone to tell them it was okay.. it was hard to say, really. "In fact.. I know from expirience that there are some close to here. One, in particular." Her eyes flashed slightly from green to bright yellow. She wondered if the girl had noticed.

Ashni's heart fell when Rachel said that the rest of the world was not accepting of people with power, she had hoped that with the revelation that she was not alone would also come the equally welcome discovery that people like her were acknowledged and perhaps even 'normal' she schooled the disappointment from her face carefully. "So then do you know if they are hid-"
Ashni had been watching the girl intent her attention rapt, so when her eyes flipped to a brilliant black speckled yellow she stopped mid sentence. Oh..! "You are one.." she whispered, eyes going wide. There was no fear in her voice only curiosity. "What can you do?"
Ashni wondered if everyone had the same powers, or if they grew over time, would she one day beable to change her eyes?

She smiled when Wanda noticed that she was in fact a mutant. What made her smile most was the reaction. She didn't seem scared, nor worried. The curiosity was either because she was generally wondering about the mutants, or she was one herself and she was in hiding. "This is what I can do. Actually.. I don't usually look like this. In fact.. this is just a form I've chosen for right now." She wouldn't show her normal blue form. Not yet.. this wasn't the time or place. She did, however, shift to the blonde hair blue eyes that was her go-to human form. "And my name isn't really Rachel.. You can call me Raven."
She rather enjoyed the name Mystique too.. however, for now, that name had to be covered up. For now, she had to be merely Raven Darkholme. "I can shift in to any form I choose. What about you? Can you do anything like that?" She asked with a quirk of a brow.

Ashni's eyes were huge as she saw the fluttering blue shift over Rachl-Raven's form. "That's amazing..." she said as the other girl became a blond, blue eye'd girl. Any form she wants? God the things she could do with that!
When Raven asked if she could do anything...it seemed like she already knew Ashni was a little scared, but the other girl had shown hers so...
Ashni's hands glowed as she looked out on the street, her eyes narrowed, trying to find someone the deserved a little bit of bad luck. Her focused on a fat man walking, he had hit Sumi yesterday. Her fingers flicked out, for a moment nothing happened then he tripped somehow managing to catch his pants on a door handle ripping them up the back before he fell face first into the gutter.
