Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION The past little while had truly shaped Erik's life in ways he had not imagined. Not only was his life's mission accomplished -- killing Shaw -- but he had learned that he was not alone. That he was not the only one with these, abilities. Mutations, as Charles spoke of. Erik's understanding of the science behind it had grown significantly hearing it from his friend. A friend he wished was with him now, joined his side . . . but alas, some things were not meant to be. It had caused a rift between them, but Erik had found a greater purpose. A life to devote to fighting for mutant rights.
He vowed never to be helpless in the wake of persecution ever again . . . and it started now. He would not see people oppressed for merely existing. Tortured. Killed. If they did not stop it, it would happen again. Just like it had happened so many years ago. But the political thoughts were currently at rest -- for the most part. It was in the middle of the night, and sleep came with difficulty tonight. They were in one of Shaw's estates -- thanks to Emma's information -- and Erik was currently sitting on the stool at the island in the middle of the kitchen, drink in hand. With the team they had among them so far, they could achieve great things.
Angel. Azazel. Emma. Riptide. Mystique. Ah yes, Mystique. Such a magnificent mutant that Erik found quite alluring. He was grateful she had joined them, knowing the cost it came at considering her relationship with Charles. He wondered if the man would ever forgive him for that, but wasn't remorseful enough to regret the offer for her to come with him. He cared for her, and was eager to learn more of her. Learn about the true woman, not the mask she wore to meet societal expectations. No sooner did thoughts of the others enter his mind, that he heard the quiet footsteps enter the kitchen, prompting him to look up after he took a drink of his beverage. "A little late isn't it?" He asked in a slightly teasing voice.

For a shapeshifter who was often quick to adapt, it was taking Raven quite a bit longer than usual to get used to the change of scenery. Or, well, it was more so the company than the surroundings, actually. For so long, Raven had grown up with only Charles for company. Sure, the group of people she was with now had their own telepath.. but, it wasn't the same. Who would she go to when she couldn't sleep? When she was restless at night, when her own thoughts got too much? What would she do then? Wait in her room like some scared child, praying that time would move faster and that morning would come? Knowing that she couldn't just sit in bed and remain in her own worry, Raven just got up. She tugged on one of the shirts that happened to be in the closet of the room she had called dibs on. It was quite fancy, quite big on her, but comfortable enough that she didn't need to shapeshift. With it on and no longer naked, Raven headed on out of the room. She did not expect anyone else up at this hour, so she was more than taken by surprise when she realized the figure in the kitchen belonged to someone. Not just a someone, though. An Erik. "The same can be said to you," Raven spoke, not sparing Erik a second glance as she went ahead to grab a cup. Might as well get something to drink while she was up, maybe a warm glass of milk? That helped when she was young.. "What are you doing up?" /Erik Lehnsherr

Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION She asked him what he was doing up, and he knew the simplistic answer was that he couldn't sleep. Probably the same as her from the looks of how awake she looked right now. He watched as she made her way to get a cup, not failing to notice the loose shirt she wore on top. At least she was in her natural form. Magneto truly wanted to make her feel as if she didn't need to hide, anything.
"Couldn't sleep," he answered simply, giving the generic response. "What's keeping you up?" He asked, genuine curiosity in his voice despite the casual way he had asked. The mutants among them, were ones he wanted to help however was within his power. Especially Mystique. "Or perhaps it is a conversation better had over a drink," he invited, motioning to the glass bottle in front of him. Did she even drink? He hadn't the faintest idea. Even though he had resided in their home at the mansion for the select amount of days . . . he hardly knew anything about her when it came to the small things, and even the larger ones.

"Up at this hour and drinking?" Raising a brow, the shapeshifter turned to face Erik. "My, what would the others think if they hear this? The mighty Magneto.." Despite the light teasing-a habit that Raven picked up from living with Charles-the woman bought her glass over to the table and went ahead and filled it. She didn't really care what kind of alcohol this even was; it didn't smell as strong as the Russian stuff Azazel tended to bring back.. which, was good. Her cells might be able to fight off the drunkness of most liquors, but that stuff? That was something even SHE couldn't stay sober with for long!
Setting the bottle down in front of the man, Raven didn't hesitate as she took a big swig from the glass. It only happened once or twice with her, but getting drunk was one way to pass out, right? Charles always scolded her to no end when she got even a tiny bit tipsy, so she couldn't say for sure. Right now, though? Nothing was holding her back. Tomorrow plan was just going over some recon, no physical work. She could suffer with a hangover without risking anyone else's lives.
Taking a seat near by Erik, Raven couldn't help but make a face as the familiar feeling of alcohol burnt as it traveled down her throat. She should have just taken a small sip to test it out, not drink half of the cup! Thank goodness Erik didn't have all the lights on, hopefully he didn't seem the expression she made.

Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik let out a small huff of amusement at her teasing words. "Mighty Magneto," he repeated before taking another sip of his drink. It was not self glorification, but rather, just reiterating the two words together. "I must admit, that name really is growing on me," he told her, considering she had been the one to come up with it. At the time, his response had been a bit of a sarcastic one -- considering the circumstances -- but now, he liked it. It had a rather nice ring to it. All the better that it came from her. Erik slightly waved a finger, moving the chair out for her to sit on as she moved towards it. It was after all, the gentlemanly think to do.
"They might think that I'm a rather lucky mutant," he told her, belatedly answering her question but needing it to be set. What man wouldn't be lucky in the company of a beautiful woman. When she filled her cup and took a drink . . . a rather large drink, he couldn't help but let out a bit of a chuckle at her reaction. He wasn't one to tell her to slow down, or be careful. She was her own woman, though Magneto couldn't help but be amused by the seemingly unfamiliarity of the drink, or the infrequency in which she drank copious amounts at once. "Making up for lost time?" He asked her playfully, regarding the large swig she had taken, and rather enjoying the light, teasing tone between them.

As the shock of the alcohol faded from her system, Raven relaxed as she let the warmth spread throughout her being. It was actually pretty good! She had no idea what she was even drinking, but she trusted Erik enough not to poison her. ...Could she even be poisoned? The way Hank talked about her cells.. and with her own history of how fast her body fought off colds, would it even hold? Colds were always a pain, but it felt like it took FOREVER for Charles to recover next to her only day's worth of complaints. Sipping at the drink again, Raven took more time in savouring the flavour. She allowed it to rest in her mouth for a few moments before she swallowed. Once it was down, she went on with talking, the teasing smirk back on her face.
"You know, we can always pronounce your name the other way. We don't NEED to say Mag-NEAT-o. Just MAGNET-o!" Poor Erik- with no Charles to pick on, he was going to get the brunt of the shapeshifter's remarks! Although he did manage to get even footing. His own answer to her question quieted her down more than immediately.
At least, for two more sips and a refill of her glass.
"You try growing up with Charles. I can't remember a single time he would let me order my own drink at a bar." He had been a tad overprotective, not to mention a worrywart. No matter if they were staying home or not, he always tended to make sure his sister didn't get tipsy and reveal to the whole world what she was. A mutant. A freak.
Another drink.
"Are you going to share what caused you to wake up and open a whole bottle?"

Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Magneto made a bit of a face at the mispronounciation, appreciating the tease as he further engaged in it by lacking any actual seriousness of his dislike. "It sounds like a terrible children's toy," he retorted, taking another sip of his drink though there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. Yes, he most certainly liked his name when said right. Though, he had to admit, was enjoying the light hearted conversation with her. He was wanted to get to know her more, learn about her, in ways that were impossible at Charles's estate. At the mention of Charles, and Mystique stating how little he would let her drink, Magneto responded.
"I suppose that's what family does; try to protect one another." Only Charles was protecting her in the wrong way. He saw hiding her as protecting her. But no. Protecting her was freeing her. Unleashing her strength. "However they deem fit." Meaning, he was not quite in agreement with Charles' way of doing that. It started with a drink, but it was the reasons behind it that made Erik disagree with his dear friend. Charles believed in integration, but it was not integration. It was assimilation. Why should they conform to societal expectations?
But he reserved this political viewpoint, knowing there was no need to bring it up now. Mystique knew about it, considering her views were similar enough to his for her to come and join him rather than stay with Charles. He casually took another sip, pensive as he mulled over her words. "Ladies first," he teased, though meant it as an invitation for her to open up about what was troubling her. For if it was anything that he could help with, he most certainly wanted to.

"Who to say you aren't a terrible kid's toy?" ...Was she already drunk? Her flitter seemed to be broken, for she was just sitting here teasing Erik like he was some childhood friend! [At least, this was how she imagined it would be like if she had a friend from one's childhood. The closest she had was Charles, but he was CHARLES! Her brother! He didn't count.] Setting her almost emptied glass down, Raven turned her body towards Erik. She wasn't going to go and get some water for herself; it was too much work! So, the shapeshifter just decided to try and let her body fight off whatever tipsiness she was currently feeling. Hopefully, it would pass, and she wouldn't end up too loose-lipped around the current leader of the Brotherhood. It was one thing to pick on the head of the group when you were family, but when it came to Erik? Not so much. She already embarrassed herself bad enough the night she decided to join him in bed- "Brothers are a bother. You're lucky you didn't see him in his teenage years, let alone deal with him!" And a shame Charles was the one with all the photo albums and yearbooks.. There was some good stuff in there! All perfect for a younger sister to use and blackmail their older sibling with. "Fine. It was bad dreams," Raven gestured to Erik, allowing him a turn to go on. "Your turn," // Erik Lehnsherr

Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik slightly raised an eyebrow, continuing to fuel the playful mood between them. "Is that where you got the name from?" He asked, knowing she didn't but couldn't help but joke about the entire thing. "And to think, all this time I was crediting you for your originality and creativity." He still did, aware that this was all just silly conversation. When she spoke of Charles, Erik smiled a little.
He hadn't had any brothers or sisters, and always wondered if that was perhaps a good thing for either they too would have been subject to Shaw's cruelty, or they would have been subject to the Nazis. Either way, it would have been another life to mourn. "Was it really that bad?" He asked, the question inviting her to talk about it if she so desired. Opening the subject as she led it with the topic. He knew that the topic itself could be a difficult one to engage in but she seemed comfortable with it. "I almost wish I had seen him then," Magneto said jokingly, taking another sip of his drink as he smiled. Turning his attention to her, setting the jokes and teases aside, he took in her answer.
Bad dreams. He could fully understand that. But, then she asked him. He knew it was only fair to answer it and well, if there was one thing he was not, it was a liar. "Bad memories," he replied, taking the last sip of his drink. He turned his head to look at her, really look at her. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked, filling his glass again, holding it towards her glass in preparation, though paused to wait and see if she actually wanted more. He wasn't about to force her if she had reached her limits.

Tsking the man, Raven sat back in the chair as she tugged her cup back towards herself. Yeah, not drinking it was failing. Plus, it was just one sip left! It wouldn't make a difference if she did or didn't. "Erik, I might copy faces, but I don't copy names. Made by mutants, for mutants."
"Yes," Raven replied without hesitation, but it was obviously still a playful answer instead of a serious one. After all, she nearly laughed right away after the word left her mouth! The shapeshifter knew how lucky she really was. Sure, a few times she just hated it and couldn't imagine how things could ever be worst, but that wasn't the case now. She was no longer as naive as she once was. Not only did she lay wittiness to life's cruelty, but she was also reminded of her own. Before Charles. Before getting her very own annoying older brother.
"If he doesn't burn the evidence, I'm sure you can get a peek into his past. I'm afraid I'm harder to spot in some of those photos, so you better not go looking there for me." Teasing the man before her, Raven just went ahead to finish her glass and hold it out for a refill. She would have done it herself, but he was closer to the bottle. Plus, he was offering!
"Bad memories... I'm afraid you won this round," The glass was bought back to her lips, and this time, Raven just used the silence to take a sip. A little sip, tasting the flavour on her own lips.
"Do you want to talk about it?" May it be talking about his own nightmares, or listening to hers. It was best to double-check in these kinds of things. Not to mention that it helped shift the attention off of her.

Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik continued to slightly smile at her words, referencing her powers and stating that she didn't copy names. "Well don't I feel special then," he teased, going back to the appreciation of the nickname. What would become his actual name. Magneto. "Where would the fun in that be?" He asked with the continued teasing tone of voice. "I would be equally interested in seeing pictures of you from both your childhood." As Magneto known that they had met as children and then grew up together.
He poured more of the drink into her glass while she told him she won this round. Oh how he wished neither of them were faced with anything that haunted their nights, be it memories or dreams. She asked him the same question, making him realize how similar they were. Unused to opening up. Not keeping that attention onto them. Magneto turned to look at her, locking eyes with her golden ones. "I'm not Charles," he began to say softly. "I can't see into your mind, know what you are thinking." Reading people was drastically different from telepathy.
"Know what keeps you up at night." Referring to the bad dreams. He was unsure whether Charles used his powers to help calm her back to sleep, or whether he used other methods of helping her. "But, I would very much like to get to know you, Mystique." His words filled with sincerity as he reached holding, touching the loose fabric of the sleeve on the oversized shirt she wore between his index finger and thumb. A half smile formed but just as quickly faded. "The real you." He lowered his hand back to his side, the small reference to his previous conversation with her about not having to hide . . . anything. Physically, or emotionally.

As she sat back in her chair, Raven crossed her legs in front of her. While she did so, her form subtly changed at first before it just became the blonde one she tended to favour. The one she first met Erik in, and the one, as Erik was learning, was what she grew up wearing. Plus, the form did not have her changing her mass at all. There was no need to worry about having the shirt she borrowed ripping or falling off her shoulders. It would be fine, and it would remain that way in this form and her natural one. "I hope you know, the face you would see is this one."
Bringing the now full glass back to her lips, Raven allowed herself to return to her natural one. It was something she needed to get used to, not having to hide. She was safe from any hateful flashes being in a place full of fellow mutants. Not to mention that, the words Erik spoke that followed along with the action itself just proved her point. She didn't have to hide here.
Raising a brow at Erik, Raven glanced down to where he was holding her shirt. Her eyes lingered there for a moment before returning to making eye contact. "This isn't you just being all leadery, is it?"

Tag: Mystique Note: Better layout coming soon! Peace WAS NEVER AN OPTION Erik watched as she transformed into the blond, light skinned woman. The mask she had put on for society so that they would accept her. It was truly a shame. She spoke of how this was the face she would see and well, he had assumed as such. Though it didn't make it any less unfortunate to hear.
"Disappointing," he said almost teasingly, though his words held truth. That night she had been in his bed, he recalled telling her that he preferred the real Raven, and her initial reaction had been to transform into this current form. It had hurt to see that it was who she believed was the real her. The one that everyone desired and longed to see. No. Not him. The real Raven was the most beautiful one. The one he had described as perfection and would stand by that accurate description of her. He felt an almost relief when she returned to her natural blue form, noticing her glance down to where his fingers were lightly on her shirt, lowering his hand with a hint of a smile upon hearing her words.
"No," he told her truthfully. Leader. He never thought to be a leader but if that was what it took for a faction to fight for mutant rights, he would gladly take whatever role required. "This is me taking genuine interest in you, Raven." Lying was not something Erik ever felt the need to do. He didn't intend to start now. "Your choice to join me in this cause, is never one I will take for granted." Because he knew it had not been an easy one. But she had confidently made it. Her views aligned with his and whether she was here just for the cause, or whatever other reason brought her to this side . . . he would never take her actions for granted.
